What a delicious treat! After over a week of trying local kiosks and restaurants we finally got a home run. Everything was delicious and well seasoned. Staff was kind and helpful. Expect to wait for food to be prepared, but it’s well worth the wait. Our thanks to the chef for blessing us with your gifts! No complaints.

Each plate was excellent and prepared with caring. We had the tof’dodo—which had a perfectly dense and chewy texture—in a sauce with ripe plantains. It was served with fluffy rice that had a subtle spice that balanced out the sweetness of the plantains.
Read moreWe also had fufu with a mushroom stew. We opted for yucca fufu, which came prepared as a large sticky ball. You wet your hands, tear off a piece and dip it in the stew. It was spot on.
For fun we opted for some Nigerian hot sauce, which definitely had some kick.
A green juice was absolutely tasty.
The staff, including the proprietor were friendly, sweet and helpful. The atmosphere is bright and cheery. When we were there, there was a large family and also a table with what appeared to be grandmother and granddaughter. Sit back and enjoy the food, which is all made to order.

Awesome food! This was my first time trying Nigerian food, since it's rare to come across a vegan version. Everything we tasted was flavorful and fresh. The moi moi (steamed legume-based mash) was excellent, as was the Nigerian empanada. For the entrees, we got the jollof rice bowl and the rice/beans/stew bowl. Both excellent! The fresh juices were great also. I'm really happy this place lived up to its excellent reviews. I will definitely come back the next time I am in San Juan.

Delicious food. Extremely kind service. Great experience. Made fresh so takes more time but its 100% worth it. If you ever come to dine in when they’re closing soon they never rush you out. These vegan versions of traditional African food is on point and such a pleasure to enjoy what you love but vegan.

We stopped by here on a Sunday morning, and unfortunately for the owner it seems like her staff couldn't make it so she had to cook everything herself. It took around two hours to get our food. It was all very tasty, and the one person was working hard, but we weren't expecting to spend half our sunday in a parking lot.

The mushroom skewer was so good, like words can’t describe! and the empanada was tasty as well. I also tried the fufu n egusi, it was diff from what I was used to and didn’t like it at all. But I would def go back to try new things, n of course the mushroom again. There is an also a real long wait time since there is only one person working, but the owner is the sweetest soul ever.

Amazing Flavors, Frustrating Ordering and Pick-Up Process - Edit
I made a pick-up order through DoorDash and it was almost 30 minutes late. This is a ghost kitchen and the pick-up point is in front of a laundromat that’s not related to Afro Vegana. So it was very frustrating having to drive around the neighborhood in search of a parking spot as we waited past the pick-up time (pick-up was suposed to be at 12:20pm and they ended up arriving at 12:45pm). They also almost never pick up the phone, so we didn’t know the status of our food for a while.

Everything was INCREDIBLE. We were in Puerto Rico for 10 days and it was easily the best meal we had. DoorDash dropped the ball but the restaurant was incredibly helpful and amazing. We highly recommend the tof'dodo and definitely get the suya too. Perfectly spiced and delicious. I will now forever dream of them opening a location in Philadelphia. If you are only visiting PR, do not miss this place.
