Water Way To Start The Day - Edit
Seeking morning sustenance on a grand scale in a refined setting, I pointed myself in the direction of this tasteful breakfast buffet restaurant. What I found here was exactly what I was looking for, though not in the manner in which I had anticipated.
Read moreRather than overt, knockout dishes, it was the culmination of small touches and subtle details that made this a delightful start to the day. From smooth, paprika-laced hummus, to better-than-average beans, and from unfathomably good roasted seasonal vegetables that were gloriously sweet, to perfectly al dente, incredible mushrooms, it was obvious that care and attention had been given to every item on the spread, even the most lowly of offerings. Even the bread, a fresh, locally sourced sourdough, elevated a simple staple.
That being said, there was one element that did get me truly excited: the vegan banana bread. I would earnestly love to tell you that it was magnificent, but alas, I cannot. It had a decent flavour, but it lacked sweetness and, crucially, was incredibly dry - even an almond milk bath did little to alleviate the issue. And I know it was a fundamental problem as the second batch (yes, once I’d exhausted the first, I had to test the second, purely for scientific purposes, you understand) had the same flaw.
Despite the slight tinge of sadness that came from the arid slabs of cake, it was by no means enough to mar what was otherwise a truly pleasurable and satisfying meal.
