Can’t recommend enough - Edit
Must go vegan place in San Cristobal. The owner was lovely and explained all about the food and his philosophy. The food is all organic, locally sourced healthy Prehispanic style and it did not disappoint. The guacamole was the nicest I’ve ever had, and all the vegetables were delicious.

Gerardo was so welcoming and his passion and love for food came through in each bite. Could not recommend this place more - amazing value (so much food!) and even better conversation and ambiance. Thank you, Gerardo, for all that you do!

Tipica acojida chiapaneca - Edit

Amazing food and experience! - Edit
ART Libreria is amazing! Gerardo makes a lot of different dishes from scratch with only local organic ingredients. We had a very nice cold cocoa drink, guacamole, beans with local herbs, fresh corn tortillas, spicy salsa, fajitas and mole (which is a must try). The setting is really nice too, it’s like a living room where Gerardo cooks, with lots of books and one big table that you share with other people. We had good chats too.

Communal dining - Edit
The food was so good, such good value for the small price, and the owner is so nice. He makes a daily menu with such love. The guacamole is out of this world good.

OUTSTANDING - Edit
Gerardo cooks with so much love and passion. This is far from a typical dining out experience - it's like going to his house for lunch/dinner. There is a single large round table for a communal experience. He prepares the food with such care using fresh ingredients. His guacamole is amazing. And he serves organic corn tortillas. He will feed you until you are full - it's not one single dish - it's multiple dishes and all you can eat. He is saving money to buy his own land to grow his own fresh organic ingredients. Eat here! You'll be glad you did.

BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER - all you can eat vegan 🌱 - Edit
Amazing experience here and the most lovely gentleman who runs the homely and cozy restaurant. For 200 pesos we had the most tasty 3 course meal. These courses consisted of lentil soup and potatoes, followed by THE BEST guacamole 🥑, and a cacao mole with a hint of chili. There were lots of crispy tostados served to fill with the various dishes. Finished with the most delightful cacao drink that make our minds ALIVE.

We had a mix made from left lentil and broccoli soup for tacos, tostadas, tortillas, rice, hot sauce, guacamole, mole, lime water and Gerardo also whipped us up Mole to try.
We enjoyed the conversation and insight into his life, plus what he hopes to achieve through healthy organic vegan food.
Pros: Great host, Won’t need to eat all day after , Mole and guacamole were mi favorita

Most incredible, memorable night - Edit
I can’t reccomend this gem more. I’ve been travelling for months and this evening stood out above anything I’ve ever had. The food was absolutely sensational, the space was so intimate and special, a single large round table which we all sat around. The host chatted to us whilst he cooked, telling us about his inspring life, and then played some piano as we ate. He used to be a professional pianist so the music was beautiful. It’s such a unique space, decorated amazingly and just the opposite to a normal restaurant. Don’t hesitate, go go go

Wow. - Edit
I’ve travelled the world as a vegan and this has got to be one of the most unique and special places I’ve stumbled upon. In the middle of the small place is one table where a group was already eating. Gerardo, the owner and chef welcomed us and told us to sit down and join them, immediately serving us delicious homemade soup made exclusively from produce from his and his friends gardens. He told us it was all we could eat soup and fresh guacamole made from his avocados for not even $7!!!!!! We made friends with the people we sat with as we shared life stories and Gerardo told us about his life and his permaculture knowledge. He’s truly doing something revolutionary at this place; the fact that the food was absolutely delicious and fresh was an added bonus!! I can’t recommend this place enough.

Gererdo is a gracious, kind and generous host. He wants to make sure You're comfortable and well taken care of. It's like sitting at the Chef's Table. All the Food is made in front of You and everything is Organic. If he doesn't grow it himself he sources it from his local Permaculture Community.
