Good for a change. - Edit
Basilicom is a great place to eat when you want a change from spicy Asian cooking. We had the humus and mushroom bowl with flatbread and a quinoa salad. We weren't sure that it would be enough for us, but actually we struggled to finish.

Pocas opciones veganas - Edit

Excellent hummus and falafel on Samui! - Edit
It's not a vegan or vegetarian restaurant, but there's a variety of safe options like falafel, hummus plates, salads, bread (more options for ovo-vegetarians). And I must say, their falafel and hummus deserve an honorable mention- much better than Falafel Factory's.

Best hummus in Samui - Edit
The hummus at Basilicom is just amazing. In my opinion, the best in Koh Samui.
Read moreThe falafels are also some of the best I've had. Other dishes I particularly enjoyed are the roasted baladi eggplant and the focaccia (different flavors available, just tell them no cheese).
After eating more than a few times at Basilicom I can say that the service is, to be nice, hit and miss which is a bit of a shame. Waiters are often shouting at each other and you can tell they rather be somewhere else. This aside, strongly recommended for their hummus and falafel!

Homemade falafel & hummus, great coffee!! - Edit
Stopped here for lunch as nearby falafel factory wasn’t open and had cravings for falafel!! Really friendly staff, hubs & I ordered hummus & falafel plate each with homemade Israeli bread and sweet potato wedges to share, hummus was lovely and comes with 4 falafels each and pickles/chilli sauce. Sweet potato also had tahini dressing and we left super full! Finished with Turkish coffee which was 👌🏻. Total bill about £15. Down a side street next to Chaweng Muay Thai stadium just off Chaweng Main Street. More veggie than vegan but enough options that you can change things up of on holiday, highly recommend 🥙

Disgusting uncaring staff - Edit
Disgusted and angry me and my husband ordered the vegan pad Thai as it was clearly labelled with 2 'v' symbols. The waitress consequently asked if we want chicken or vegetarian so I clarified again we want the vegan option and pointed at the symbol on the menu. Halfway through eating it was looking and wondering what these yellow prices were thinking they could be tofu. We asked a waiter what it is and they said egg. This place should not be listed on happy cow as the staff clearly need better training. It's misrepresenting food as vegan and feeding it to unsuspecting customers. Nobody should eat here if they don't know what vegan actually is

Fed us egg! - Edit
Genuinely Livid. Everything was great until half way through eating the vegan Pad Thai. We specifically asked for the vegan Pad Thai and triple checked that it was vegan "yes yes yes". Whilst eating the food my Wife noticed some small yellow pieces we assumed must have been tofu... You know? Since we asked explicitly for the Vegan option that was marked vegan. What do you know. Turns out it was egg. Either there is just 0 care or the kitchen require educating on what Vegan means. Very disappointed as we unintentionally ate egg really really poor service.

Disappointed, but okay. - Edit
Terrible pizza. Good staff, nice atmosphere. A few Vegan options. The mushroom hummus was yum. The Eggplant Pizza which was “recommended” on their menu was terrible - basically just a base with a tiny bit of eggplant.

Not that vegan friendly after all - Edit
At the first sight you think there are a lot of vegan and especially vegetarian dishes but then you have another look at the menu and see that this isn’t true - tuna dishes are considered vegetarian...
Read moreThere was no plant based milk options for coffee and didn’t serve potatoes in the morning. Falafel hummus was okay but not the best I’ve had. Juices were very fresh and nice. Quite pricy for the quality and variety of offerings.

Unfortunately had poor service - Edit
I ordered 3 starters for my dinner. The dishes arrived at least 10 min apart and the third dish never arrived. I enquired, but still nothing, while tables seated after me were being served starters and then mains. I paid and left unhappy. It is a shame, as the food I had was yummy. Also, cash only.

Wasn’t impressed with the food offering here at all. Food is super oily and greasy. Nothing appears to be made fresh (could be wrong but certainly tasted that way). Not recommended.

Delicious Food! - Edit
The food here is great, if a little pricey. Rather than going for a main meal, I tend to go for 2 starters which ends up cheaper, I love the falafel and baked potato. They also have a very reasonably priced local flavour part of the menu, serving Thai food as well as Israeli food. Pad Thai and spring rolls are both vegan and are delicious!
