Amazing lunches, cakes and pastries. - Edit
Fantastic range of tasty sandwiches, breakfasts and treats plus tea, coffee etc. Our favourites are the incredible sandwiches (eg the augbergine parmigiana toastie or BLT), the vegan breakfast and breakfast rolls with delicious home made bacon, egg or haggis. Not to mention the amazing tofu Benedict!

AMAZING vegan treats! - Edit
I went to black rabbit mid afternoon on a weekday to try some of their vegan bakery items. I decided to try their vegan Boston cream and croissant. Both were delicious! Since I arrived later in the day, selection was a little more limited, but they still had plenty available. I can’t wait to go back and try some of their other items, such as their lunch!

Great haggis sandwich! - Edit
I ate here twice in a few days as it was close to my hotel (Novotel) and both times had the toasted haggis sandwich, which was very satisfying and tasty. It's a small menu, but something for everyone. The cafe itself is also very small, so avoid peak times or grab a takeout.

Best vegan breakfast - Edit
The BEST vegan breakfast i had, especially the egg!! If you try one thing here, it should be the vegan egg, it's delicious! The prices are totally reasonable, i've paid way more money for way worse breakfast! 100/10 recommend

Black Rabbit - Edit
A small, cosy café with just a few tables, but clearly a local favourite — it was busy when I arrived, so be prepared you might need to wait for a spot. The space has a relaxed vibe, perfect for breakfast, brunch or lunch.
Read moreAlthough there were plenty of tempting options on the menu, I couldn’t resist the Tofu Benedict — and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The hollandaise sauce was so rich and creamy. I don’t know if they make the bacun or buy it in, but it’s genuinely the best vegan bacun I’ve ever had. I wasn’t the only one in the café with a squeaky-clean plate by the end!

Delicious! - Edit
Went here for breakfast and had the tofu benedict which was so delicious (albeit maybe a bit on the salty side). The hollandaise was so moorish I could have had a bowl of it.

Best Tofu Benedict ever! - Edit
Popped here for lunch today. Tiny friendly space - the tofu. Benedict was amazing with homemade seitan bacon and a delicious sauce. Also stocked up on some vegan ham, sausages and cheese which look exciting. Smashing.

Extremely cozy, delicious food. We both got the Full Breakfast, and while I don’t really know what it’s “supposed” to taste like, I thought all of the substitutes were well thought out and delicious.

Worth a visit (or two) - Edit
We are visiting and came here upon arrival and we are not disappointed. The full breakfast was amazing and the 'nae egg' was some of the best scramble we have ever had. They make it in house and it was shockingly good. Also had a biscoff bun that was good. Coffee was good as well. As mentioned very small space so plan for possible take away. Service was amazing and friendly. Highly recommend.

Delicious all-vegan breakfast at Black Rabbit—small spot, big flavors! - Edit
We had an excellent breakfast at Black Rabbit, a cozy, fully vegan café in Edinburgh. The Full Vegan Breakfast was absolutely delicious—hearty, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. A perfect way to start the day!
Read moreJust a small heads-up: the standard breakfast contains gluten, but they do offer gluten-free bread and are happy to accommodate dietary needs—just let them know. The chef is clearly thoughtful about options.
The drink menu features a nice variety of hot teas and specialty coffee drinks, all plant-based, of course. The café itself is quite small—it seats about 10 people max—so you might need to wait a bit during busy hours, but it’s well worth it.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality vegan meal in a relaxed, welcoming space. A real find in Edinburgh!
