Sensational, magnificent, sublime - Edit
It's not often you're left speechless after a breakfast meal but that's just what happened on our recent trip to Edinburgh. The tofu royal and tofu benedict dishes were sensational. The hollandaise sauce was magnificent and the salmon and bacon were sublime. We savoured every bite and wished for more. We also visited again the next day but this time just for a shared cruffin and two spiced lattes (pumpkin and ginger bread). Again we were not disappointed. Staff are friendly and we will definitely visit again next time. You should too...

Wonderful spot - Edit
Incredible choices served with love and passion for vegan food. Had a ‘salmon’ and ‘cream cheese’ bagel that was out of this world! An almond choc croissant made on the premises and we were offered so many tasters of cheese and even a pastrami style meat option! Will definitely head right back there next time we are in Edinburgh 💚

Really excellent food! - Edit
A complete find. So many vegan options we wanted to buy everything. The rabbits horn is excellent and the bacon and egg roll is the closest I’ve had to the real thing. The cruffins are excellent and great coffee. I can’t fault the food and the staff were so friendly and chatty and welcoming. Shame we aren’t local as i would be back in a heartbeat. Great to support a small vegan business.

Most likely best coffee shop in Scotland - Edit
A small gem near the center of the city. During my trip to Scotland, I ate in about 5 coffee shops. This was hands down the best one. Owner and staff are so nice, and for funny prices you get so much delicious food. Best vegan scramble and best vegan bacon in Scotland. I was there with a meat eater who described the bacon as very close to the real thing. The PBJ banana is also very very good. On the day I visited they had a salad with beet which was also perfect. I really wish I could stay more and eat all of the menu. For any vegan visiting Edinburgh, this place is a must.

A tiny place worth your visit! - Edit
When we got there all the seats were taken but we took a cupcake and another bun that I don't remember the name of, also a latte. Very friendly staff, she told us about places nearby where we could sit, by the church and in the park right outside. The prices were good, wish I could have had the time to test more items on their menu!

Yum! Great food and very inexpensive. - Edit
Just back from my first visit and will definately be back again soon. The menu offers a great selection and prices are excellent. There were two of us for lunch and we both had fruit scones with jam and cream with coffees after our food and juice and it only cost £22 which i think is BRILLIANT.

So so - Edit
Thought I would try this new place when on a visit to Edinburgh. Food was OK without being great - it's all a bit average.
Read moreThe savoury options are a bit limited and to my mind, not particularly appealing. Eventually, I opted for the quiche of the day, which was disappointing in terms of flavour, presentation and quantity,
I would say this place is better if you are after a cake and a coffee but not at all good if you are looking for savoury food.
I am still searching for a really good vegan food outlet in Edinburgh, Glasgow options are still better.
Pros: All vegan
Cons: Location, Savoury options are poor, Ramshackle presentation
Soulfulmean
Hello, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, we are very sorry you did not enjoy our quiche, and we regret that you think we don’t have enough savoury options on our menu, as we have been only open for a month we are still working on it, but to start we thought 12 savoury options vastly different from each other would be enough considering we only have 3 tables, we will take your feedback onboard and endeavour to expand our savoury selection so next time you’re in the area please come by so we can have the chance to show you what we can do.

I had a scrambled tofu and seitan / egg and bacon roll. Very rich and delicious so I followed up with a big kale salad, also yummy but in a green healthy way. That put a spring in my step.

Black Rabbit is such a gem!
Read moreAll the food I have had here was amazing, both lunch and baked goods. They have loads of variety in their vegan deli items and almost everything can be made gluten free. They are extremely affordable (large lunch for less than £5, most baked goods around £2) and open pretty late.
Highly recommend cruffins, parfait style desserts (I had an apricot parfait and can't forget about it), quiches and the Hungry Rabbit (sourdough bread with smoked mushrooms, Greek style cheese and veggies). The coffee & teas are great too, the staff is friendly and passionate.
Pros: Loads of options, great food, Very low price, Open later than many other places

Great vegan croissants! - Edit
Three different kinds of vegan croissants, almond, plain and chocolate - tried the plain and almond and they tasted great! We sat outside on our last day in Edinburgh, it was a nice spot to finish our holiday. This is a great little cafe, I got a vegan BLT to take away and ate it on the train. The staff are really friendly too. Highly recommended.

Great vegan bacon. - Edit
I've been twice since they opened. I got a take away bacon and egg roll and a lotus biscuit cruffin the first time. It was all very tasty and filling. Great value. The bacon - they make it themselves - is very good.
Read moreWhile I was waiting, I spotted the BLT and so I went back to have one a few days later. I had that sit in and got a fruit loaf slice to take away. The BLT was perfect! The fruit loaf was good - perfect base for the most amazing raspberry jam I have ever had.
Looking forward to lots more great food from Black Rabbit.
Pros: Friendly staff, Great value for money, Home-made bacon
Cons: It's very small.
