Lovely takeaway

Lovely little bakery, we had a cruffin and a cinnamon roll. Both delicious and reasonably priced. They also have vegan cheese and vegan meat free on sale too.

Some stuff great, some not

We had a mixed bag from here. I loved the smoked ‘salmon’ and cream cheese bagel loads, and the egg and sausage roll. The haggis turnover was okay but lacked filling and the cruffins were too bready and not actually anything like a croissant. It’s also takeaway only which we didn’t realise. I would go back but I would only get savoury I think.

Pros: All vegan , Hot and cold food , Interesting options

Cons: Takeaway only , Underwhelming desserts

Wow. We were considering coming here for my birthday, but after seeing the way you're responding to customers, no thank you. Don't care how good your food is (or not).

Panini galore

The place was super well know, so I did already know that it was good and I was not disappointed. They have a good variety of weekly specials and lots of bakery goodies. The panini we got were amazing, the persone i shared those is not vegan and liked it so much nonetheless. The sweets were good but not that special tho. Huge problem: the place is tiny and is impossible to eat nearby.

Pros: Lots of meat substitutes for curious vegans

Cons: Only take away

Lovely takeaway lunch

We left it too late in the day to visit and their sweet options were pretty much all gone 😔 but we grabbed some sandwiches for a picnic lunch and they were great

Wanna go back!

We had their chocolate croissants- which was amazing! Enjoyed it with their great coffee.
They also sell some vegan packaged products apart from the baked goods.

I would definitely go back when I visit Edinburgh again.

Pros: Lots of vegan baked goods

Takeaway pastries

We used to love the Egg-Alternative Benedicts and would be great to see them return! During the summer months we’ll sometimes stop by for a pastry (recommend the croissants) to take into the park and browse the fantastic array of plant based products. We don’t always feel the most welcome when we walk in but don’t think it’s personal.

Tasty Food

I absolutely love finding all vegan places and Black Rabbit are fantastic! Seeing all of the vegan items on offer is incredible. I had the tastiest sandwich and cake. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Pros: Loads of choice , Affordable , Friendly staff

Cons: Shame it’s only takeaway only

Ralph’s Hasenhüttl

An absolute phenomenon of a place. Vegan deli and bakery with an element of grocery thrown in. We entered with nothing and left with a bag full of sweet and savoury bakes and pastries, artisan cheeses and some plant-based salmon and tuna. A very excited black rabbit awaited our return home.

Pros: Cool staff , Vegan delights

Bakery with fun extras

The cheese cruffin is delicious. Chocolate cherry cruffin is perfect balance, not too sweet. Lots of fun treats and cheeses as well.

Amazing

I had the black rabbit bagel and my partner got the BLT. The portion size was huge!!! So worth the money. Amazing flavours too! (Warning, they were super messy to eat 😄)
I also got a chocolate orange cruffin and an egg, sausage roll. The pastry and dough were delicious! Highly recommend 👌🏻

Pros: Great size, Independent, Delicious

Vegan croissants, cakes and more!

One of the best vegan spots in Edinburgh. The pastries and cakes are really something else. They also have some deli items like vegan cheeses as well as chocolates and sweets. Worth a visit!

Top cruffin shop

Only issue I had was that I got icing on my nose and in my beard and my girlfriend took a photo and won’t stop going on about it. So eat alone and near a shower.

Super tasty!

Really loved their baked goods, so far I’ve tried their cruffin, cakes and croissants. I also love their range of vegan cheese! Their sandwiches are a bit of a hit or miss. They did a special Katsu baguette a while back which was absolutely delicious! If you see it on the menu again, try it!

Fantastic bakery / deli

Really nice place to get lunch and treats. We visited Edinburgh for the weekend and walked about 45 in the rain to come here and were glad we did. There were so many baked treats to choose from. We had a cheese cruffin which was very nice and also a bagel which had avo and fake bacon and other salad in. It was great. We also had one of their chocolate croissants and it was gorgeous! Would definitely return when next in the area, would love the option to sit in in the future.

Pros: Vegan bakery!, Gorgeous savoury and sweet foods

Only takeaway

Was expecting the place to be a sit down cafe, but they only offer takeaway (and has no toilet). Lots of pastries and baked goods, we tried the charcoal croissant with white chocolate and the cruffin (mix between a croissant and a muffin) with biscoff spread. Both really good!

Really Satisfying Bagel!

I've just tried Black Rabbit for the first time. What a find! I went for the special of the day; a sourdough bagel called Emile Veganzola (named after their homemade Gorgonzola... as well as the French legend). It was bloomin' amazing! Chunky, satisfying and tastier than anything I can remember from before I went plant based. I'm looking forward to trying their array of pastries and cakes in the future. Top marks!

Pros: Very tasty, Lovely staff, Lots of goodies to try

Cons: None

Excellent options

I wanted to climb Arthur’s seat so I didn’t want to have a massive lunch. I ordered the haggis and cheese toastie. I’m enjoying the different flavours of a vegan haggis. The sandwich was a good size and was filling enough. I liked the haggis too. My partner had a hungry rabbit which included mushrooms and peppers and feta in it. Had a bite of this and it was nice too. I would have liked to order other things but u was so full from breakfast and didn’t want to overeat before climbing.

It is take away only so we sat in a park and ate it. It is very close so I’d recommend that. Nice staff too. They also sell some vegan goodies so of course I couldn’t resist buying chocolate. Everything I’ve tasted from the Gnaw brand is delicious.

Great little find!

I just ended up getting a few savoury things - the egg & sausage roll which was nice, and the cheese cruffin which was delicious! The banh mi sandwiches looked lovely too, and the cakes, didn't try those though unfortunately!
Some good vegan snack/speciality options you can't get many places like a big selection of cheeses...all in all, a great little find!

10/10 food to take away

I love this place, have been more times than I can count! My favourite options are the “salmon” bagel and the “egg & sausage” roll - so good. Really cheap for what you get and the staff are lovely. Delicious desserts and good coffee, plus the deli has amazing vegan cheeses and charcuterie and chocolates.

Pros: Cheap, Amazing tasting foods , Lovely staff

Cons: None!
