Great pizza - Edit
I started eating here before I became vegan and their mushroom pizza was the bomb. I. January when I switched to a vegan diet I started trying their vegan pie and it is so incredibly flavorful. Their pizzas always look like a piece of art and are quite filling. It is well worth the price and the 30 minute wait. I always order online. I want to try their mushroom wings but they are never offered on their online app which is a bummer. They have a good vegan salad too.

Worth the cost - Edit
$30 for the vegan pie after tax tip but man was it flavorful. Really one of the best vegan pies out there. Two people can probably split one and be mostly full. Green Goddess salad was an inventive option too. Reflecting now, I wish I got the mushroom wings for the vegan trifecta.

Prettiest and best pizza I've had - Edit
This is probably the best vegan pizza I've had. Along with being visually impressive. Also has some mushroom wings and a vegan salad. Worth a stop if near Santa Cruz.

Can I rate this place without eating there? - Edit
I so wanted to go to this place cuz the pics of their one vegan pizza looks bomb, and I really wanted to try something different (crust, toppings). I called and called and no one answered the phone. Their machine says to order online or leave a message. I just wanted to know how much pizza I was getting for $24 cuz I read a review that said they were very very small, like a personal pizza. Well, I didn’t get any answers till i went back to that review and saw she had posted a photo. The pizza was the length of a butter knife. Not sorry-I’m not paying $24 for one personal sized pizza, mostly bread, regardless of how good it is. All their pizzas are really pricey. They even have one (not vegan) that’s $42 cuz it has morel mushrooms!
Read moreBe careful about the way they market-they say their bread is more like thick focaccia so it’s really filling but another reviewer said it’s not the dense kind, it’s the more airy kind, so no, not as filling as they said.
Again, I really wanted to go here cuz I love unique style pizza. Huge disappointment that they are that expensive even if they are uncommon-even more so than all vegan establishments.
Pros: Unique style pizza I’m sure I’d have devoured
Cons: Way too expensive, Only one vegan pizza option on the menu

I've eaten at Bookies a number of time. I always share the pizza with a friend or end up bringing half of it home. The crust is thick - more like bread - so it's very filling. It feels like a good value to me.

Quite a creative pizza place - Edit
As the description even says on a sign outside of Bookie’s, they are an “inauthentic detroit-style pizza”. They have a large menu of craft beer as well as a good mix of different pizza toppings- and so far only one vegan option. The vegan pizza had a fabulously airy and crunchy crust, with some very peculiar toppings. Overall quite delicious. If you are adventurous and not looking for traditional pizza, this place is for you. They’ve got a really great happy-hour, high energy type of vibe, but please note that you order the whole pizza, there is nothing by the slice, and it serves about 2 people. We had a great time.

Delicious pizza - Edit
Bookie's (which is located in Sante Adairius Rustic Ales) describes their pizzas as "inauthentic detroit-style pizza". And their vegan pizza is different. The crust is almost bread-like but delicious. The toppings are unlike any other pizza you've likely had but really tasty. The vegan option has zucchini harissa / vegan mozz / sungolds / black lime / basil / vegan feta. I haven't yet tried any of their other vegan options but will one of these days.
Read moreThe place is hopping so expect a crowd but the wait isn't too bad. You order your Bookie's items at the Sainte Adarius counter (lots of beer and wine options if that's your thing).
They also have board games available to play while you're there. It's a fun spot.
