Good lunch buffet - Edit
Went here with two friends who both are raw vegans and we were all pretty happy.
Read moreThe selection was fresh, dressings mostly on the side and despite neither of us eating gluten or processed foods there was still a variety of dishes for us. One of my friends, who had been twice before, said the buffet had been quite different each time which is nice to know. Nothing was super good, but everything okay when you put it together and I would consider coming again if I needed to eat out in Gothenburg.
The main thing that brought my experience down was that one large dish contained beans (which I couldn’t have) and when I tried to take a little less beans so that they wouldn’t go to waste from being left out at my plate a staff member quite unfriendly told me off for ”only talking the goodies” which wasn’t at all what I was doing. Felt unfair that he made assumptions and also kind of weird that he told me off for just a few spoons, so energetically the visit wasn’t great. Gave my friends a good laugh though as they HAD been picky and not gotten told off 😆😅
Pros: Lots of whole food options , Lots of raw , Seasonal
Cons: Staff was rude

Above fastfood, and a good atmosphere - Edit
We enjoyed pizza's and wraps and found the price-quantity-quality ratio improved compared to one year ago. We were treated with live music during our dinner so we were most satisfied.

Bohemian cafe vibe - Edit
This cafe is much bigger then I expected with many rooms indoors and places outdoors. The buffé had many options as vegan and overheard someone ask for one or two option that wasn't vegan if there was some left of vegan versions which they fixed for this person. Nice staff and great food, sad not to be living in Gothenburg to be able to go here more often.

Superb brunch buffe on Saturdays - Edit
Damn, what a buffet. I've been there today and I was astonished by the quality and quantity of the food. Lots of vegan options marked with a "V" including vegan cheese, vegan cream and lots of vegan dishes. There were sallads, hot dishes and desserts. Even the coffee was of excellent quality. I've been to the buffet in Andrum Café in gbg but this was by far way better both in terms of variety and quality. The only cons for me would be price (179 sek on a Saturday).

good vegetarian buffet - Edit
They have a good vegetarian buffet but I waned more vegan options, from the hot dishes amiably half was vegan and no vegan butter or cheese! The salad selection is very good though!

Superb Lunch Place - 5/5 stars - Edit
My Opinion:
Read moreThough I work far from the City, When given a chance, i do not miss on landing at Cafe Hangmattan on weekdays, merely of its Wide-ranged delicious Buffet food.. truly a delight....
Mix of both Warm and cold dishes, hot soup and bread.... all are fantastic......
Important to note: Keep 2 hours blocked to have lunch here.. because you will like to fill yourself with one dish after another....
Must-taste Item: Falafel, Lasagne, Chickpeas, rather all :)
Cost: 90-100 SEK/For Lunch Buffet (Mon-Friday) - Reasonably priced for the big sortiment
Highlight: Being a restaurant in a Music House, some of the days, there could be live events ongoing. I like that...
Updated from previous review on 2016-09-03
Pros: Wide-range of excellent food, Friendly staff (EN/SE), Musical place, few days could be event days
Cons: Bit Old-school, but I love it...

Incredibly delicious - Edit
I travel to Gothenburg for work. I eat the majority of my meal here and have started staying in a nearby hotel to accommodate this. The buffet is delicious and fresh, the platter with the hummus, falafel, etc is my favorite and I tend to buy up all of the jam filled cookies. They even have Sam Adams, my home town beer (Let's go Red Sox!).

Best Buffet Ever - Edit
I usually only eat a buffets because I eat so much food. So I've been to a lot of them. This is by far the best place I've ever eaten at. From the quality of the fresh vegetables to the homemade falafel and hummus everything tastes absolutely amazing. The personal is nice and the cafe is really pleasant to dine at. Definitely worth coming to Gothenburg just to try this place. I hope they keep the same quality next time I come because I'm looking forward to it.

Favorite lunch place in Gothenburg - Edit
My partner and I always come here for the all you can eat buffé when we visit Gothenburg. The food looks fresh and most of the cold food is actually vegan. It's a very cozy place with a good mix of people.

Good vibes and good food - Edit
I went to Cafe Hangmattan last summer whilst visiting Stockholm and wandering around the area.
Read moreReally liked the atmosphere of the place; alternative, relaxed, inviting. Unfortunately, they were all out of the main dishes and only had salads/sandwiches left, so I went with the owner's suggestion and it certainly didn't disappoint. Hearty portion size and really healthy and filling. The smoothie I had was awesome and the crumble for desert was heavenly. Big thumbs up.
Pros: Nice atmosphere, Great food, Friendly owner
Cons: They were all out of main dishes..., ...but my fault for arriving a bit late

Great Place! - Edit
My husband & I ordered take-away lunch here last week during a visit to Stockholm. The owner was super nice & spoke English pretty well, although we weren't entirely sure what we were getting after his explanation. We knew it would be vegan though & didn't worry about it too much. We were not disappointed in the least! We had a salad & an open-faced sandwich. Fresh, flavorful, & filling. The presentation of the food was nice too, even jn the take-out containers. We would definitely return.

great alternative place - Edit
I visit often there. A place has Brazilian roots, but not only South Americans visit this place, as it is open to every kind of initiative, so that now and then you can see some alternative band playing there, a meeting for some NGO or a lecture being held, etc. - this attracts activists and alternative folks, and all in all this place gets really good vibes, despite being so small and simple in their interior design.

Funky little place - Edit
My BF and I were walking around SoFo and decided to try out this cafe for some grub. We ordered a salad and a sandwich that also came with a side salad, both of which turned out to be HUGE. Two soft drinks were included in the price. All for SEK115 only. Water was free as always, but there was also a homemade, cold (what I think was) elderflower blossom tea to boot. The owner is a very kind man that puts a lot of heart in this place. I also liked the laidback atmosphere and the eclectic decor. Perfect for a lazy afternoon.

Great, satisfying lunch - Edit
We stumbled across this place on our recent trip to Gothenburg, as it was near our hotel, and what a great find it was. We went for the buffet lunch, 75 SEK (about £7.50) which included a varied and extensive salad bar, various breads, soup, and several hot dishes including lasagne, potato dauphinois, and a veg bake. Tea/coffee and water also included. It was a filling and hearty lunch and set us up nicely for an afternoon of sightseeing. Casual, relaxed vibe in the cafe, plenty of seating, and a mixed crowd from local office folk to families and us! There is also an a la carte menu in the evening, but unfortunately we never got a chance to try it out - next time!
