Best japanese food - Edit
As someone who's japanese, lives in London, and has travelled to many places, I can genuinely say that Comeco makes by far the best vegan japanese food I've ever tasted. The food is very authentic and amazingly flavourful. Both me and my girlfriend were surprised over the intense and rich flavours all the food had. Make sure to try their onigiri! Definitely a must if you ever come to Sydney and want to have japanese food.

Beautiful Vegan Japanese Dishes - Edit
Masa and Team, my husband and I were so impressed and cannot fully put into words how much we enjoyed our lunch at Comeco. You went above and beyond to make my husband’s birthday lunch special, and were also attentive to my allergies. You can tell how much effort and care is put into all of the dishes, and they are beautiful beyond words. You should be so proud of this wonderful cafe, with attentive service, and delicious food. We’re so lucky to have vegan Japanese options like this available to us. I could eat the agedashi plate every day. We loved every dish we tried.

Tasty but expensive - Edit
This place was super cute. The onigiri was delicious but they don’t offer sushi in week days and some menu items are only for lunch. It is also pretty expensive for what you are getting.

Tan tan ramen - Edit
The cozy atmosphere makes this place worth a visit.
Read moreI tried the Tan Tan Ramen, which was flavorful with, tender noodles. It had just the right amount of spice, making it a satisfying meal.
I've also had their sushi, which was fresh and nicely made. The ingredients were of good quality, and the rolls were well-prepared.
Looking forward to trying some of the donuts on offer next time

Pricey lunch, but worth it - Edit
Honestly it’s authentic, high quality and you just feel good after eating. It comes with a proper price tag around 26$ for a meal, but they use organic ingredients and the dish I had, had a wholesome taste. I had their onigiri platter with tofu and it comes with Enoki mushrooms in sesame, some king oyster, two onigiri (I was expecting filling though) and a side salad with ginger dressing (?). The taste is great and it’s just like back in Japan. Seems very light - no bloating or upset stomach afterwards. I have to admit I was hungry after a few hours (but maybe because I haven’t had eaten for a while). Place is nice and simple. Service was ok-ish but it’s more self service. You order and pay at the counter and also have to get your own cutlery. They provide water and you can buy some products there. They have donuts too & on the weekends Mochi and sushi.

Love it 💚💚💚 - Edit
Love the menu, the staff, decor and healthy vibes. I had already eaten when I'd popped in to Comeco Foods but found room to try the Organic Vegan Chicken Karaage. I wasn't disappointed, those cubes of yumminess were divine. Can't wait to go back and try all the food on the menu!

Words cannot describe the pain it’s been finding vegan sushi options (Anywhere in the world). Comeco completely caught me by surprise and I’m glad it did. My two favorite items were the eggplant and the Smoked BBQ 🤤🤤.

The vegan sushi is very good. We had three rolls and all three were gone in 5 minutes. If you’re looking for sushi, this is a good spot. Not a lot of options, but what they have are great.

Hontou No Tabemono - Edit
Ordered the Miso BBQ Sushi Rolls, the young girl at the counter wasn't confident in what the ingredients actually were, but we ordered them anyway.
Read moreThe sushi was well presented and tasted real and fresh. The sauce on top was nice, but the filling was just cucumber and shredded carrot only. All of the sushi contains cucumber, which I personally don't like, so that was a bit annoying but that's my problem.
As others have mentioned it could be considered a bit pricey, ($15.9 + 15% (Sunday surcharge) + card surcharge, = $18.75 for 8 small rolls) - but as the Comeco has commented on other reviews, they are using fresh, organic, natural ingredients and make everything from scratch; so if you value that kind of food, then I'd say it's worth it. Personally I just want my food to be delicious (even at the expense of my health!), but I understand and appreciate what they are doing.
I don't think I would get the sushi again, but I will definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Cozy Vegan Café - Edit
I love supporting Yu & Masa’s little business whenever I can. Their team are so warm, friendly and attentive that it gives a warm/fuzzy feeling dining here. Their sourdoughnuts are pretty good. The Japanese katsu curry 🍛 at the time was a tad salty but I’m sure it has improved by now. Their iced hoijcha latte was hands down the best vegan hoijcha latte I’ve ever tried!!!!! Because of Comeco that hoijcha is now my new favourite flavour. I still need to try the newer stuff including their vegan soft serve icecreams.

Simply the Best! - Edit
This place jumped to my top 5 vegan eateries in Sydney right at the first try. It’s a Japanese, small, family-run business with great customer service. Their attention to quality, taste, as well as the presentation is next level. It can get pricey, but considering they predominately use organic ingredients is definitely worth it. Plus, the amount of love they pour into it their creations is also rewarding. It’s a must-try place for anyone vegan visiting Sydney.

A bit disappointing - Edit
I was excited about coming here, although I’d read a review that said they ran out of sushi early. I was still disappointed when I turned up just before 2pm and the only thing savoury they had left was the curry. We ordered this to share (two felt like overkill) and a few sides for variety. The curry itself was underwhelming for around $23, with little substance, not much flavour and only a small amount of katsu. I asked for chili oil with the curry and didn’t receive it. Of the sides, the least boring was the tempura vegetables. I was surprised they came with no dipping sauce and they were bland and a bit slimy in texture. The chicken karaage consisted of a couple of dry unappetising chunks of mock meat with toothpicks in them, and I couldn’t even see the karashi mustard sauce I’d ordered with it there was so little. I couldn’t believe I paid over $6 for a tiny amount of lotus chips. The only real upside was the iced matcha and sesame lattes with gelato, which were delicious. I so wanted to rate this place highly, but I’m going to need a much better experience than this if I’m to do so.

Absolutely delicious food but severely overpriced.. $15 for sushi, $25 for the Katsu curry which as beautiful as it looks and tastes barely fills you up.

Read moreI was able to alleviate my allergy symptoms by eating organic clean food, and COMECO CAFE was born out of my desire to deliver this to people who also suffer from allergies.
So we do not use all the additives, such as MSG, preservatives and colorings. We use fermented seasonings to add umami instead of using MSG, use fresh ingredients instead of using preservatives, and use organic seasonal vegetables & fruits from local as much as we can. The breadcrumbs covering the organic tofu cutlets are also handmade from bread. We make everything from scratch.
That makes our price slightly higher, but we believe that is good for your health and our earth.

Good food, but a bit disorganized - Edit
We went for a "late" lunch at around 1:30 PM, all the sushi rolls were gone, they only had katsu curry, drinks, and some doughnuts available. The place still had around 90% occupation... I don't know whether they usually run out of stuff, but, since they still open later in the evening from 7-10 PM, they should definitely make more rolls... I plan on going back, but I really felt like the most important part of the menu was gone, good curry though.

What we do nowadays is order 1-2 hours before leaving, sometime before noon, then it usually works. But they only serve the sushi Saturday and Sunday, as far as I know.

We apologize for not being able to provide you sushi you wanted as it was sold out.
Read moreTo avoid disappointment, we would recommend to pre-order online in advance.
We are open on Friday & Saturday night (7pm-10pm) as a dessert bar, we only serve dessert. We'll add savory items soon, but not sushi.
We only serve sushi on weekends. On weekdays, onigiri lunch plates are served in addition to curry.
Since all of our products are additive-free, we cannot sell what's left from one day at a later date. Using organic ingredients to make everything from scratch, all by hand and without any processing, means that having an excess of products is the biggest threat to our business.
However, we do not want to disappoint our customers because we are sold out, so we would really appreciate it if you could place your order online in advance.
We appreciate your understanding very much!
