Huge thumbs down on this place - Edit
Went there on a Friday night, I think about 9:30 pm?
Read moreOverall very disappointing.
First, we seated ourselves as there was no host (which is fine, probably the late hour). Eventually someone noticed us and gave us a cocktail menu. A little while later a server gave us our food menus and took drink orders. The late night menu is very limited so we chose quickly, but then waited quite awhile for the server to return and take the food order. They were out of the falafel so I got the bean burger and my husband chose the chopped cheese sandwich. The food came out quickly, and both meals were very bland. We were given no napkins or utensils, and no one came back to see if we wanted any.
AFTER eating, the drinks finally showed up. Even if it had been busy in there, 30 minutes seems ridiculous to make 3 drinks. The cocktails, described as "boozy," were very sweet.
Neither service nor food nor drinks are worth your $70! Don't waste your money.

Delicious! - Edit
I got the smoky quinoa bowl and shared the patatas bravas. Both were delicious, and there were plenty of clearly labeled vegan options to choose from. Would gladly return! The cocktail menu looked great, too.

Too many menus - Edit
This place has so many different menus set during different times that it's a little confusing and overwhelming.
Read moreWe were in a mixed party where everyone had different dietary preferences looking for somewhere to eat. Settled on the Daily Planet since it seemed like a good compromise, but their menu online doesn't match up with what they're actually serving that hour in the restaurant. Which was a bummer for some people in the party that had to pivot what they wanted to eat.
We ended up getting some nachos to share, which were great. Loved the house-made cashew cheese.
Also tried their sandwich that was tofu, pickled carrots, and peanut sauce that was banh mi inspired (omitted cilantro).
It was okay overall, the tofu was good. The peanut sauce was too thick and lacking flavor. Could have use some greens and extra sauces as it was very dry.
They were probably having an off day but the service wasn't very friendly or attentive.
Pros: Nice location, Vegan options

Cool bar with vegan brunch - Edit
Our B&B's breakfast disappointed us, so we headed here for the frittata and fancy mushroom omelet made with JustEgg, cheesy and delicious in the side sunroom on a bright day. You can get these with home fries or a side salad. This place has been going since 1982 and is likely a busy bar scene at night. Parking lot next door is a tight fit. Super sweet service. If I were a local, I would come here all the time. Cozy dining room in the back looked inviting.

I liked the nachos - Edit
I got the vegan nachos and tofu peanut hoagie with vegan Parmesan fries. The whole table shared the nachos and everyone (vegan and non-vegan alike) thought they were terrific. The tofu hoagie was also good although I wish the veggies had been more pickled. Service was also attentive and good.

Good but expensive 😅 - Edit
Good food, ordered the peanut tofu hoagie and tried some small plates (which were large!) Expensive but worth it for a special occasion…and the half price Tuesday cocktails make it worth it. Lovely decor as well.

Super cute place but a little uneven - Edit
This place is super cute and the staff is friendly but I found the food a little uneven. Some dishes, like the cauliflower steak, are awesome. Others, like the nachos, don’t really work. If you end up with something you don’t like, you might have a better experience next time, but I know people find that frustrating.

Everything from beyond burgers to vegan ragu and my personal favorite cauliflower steak. I love having a number of options to choose from. Everything is delicious, and I’ve been back so many times I’ve tried just about everything.

Perfect for mixed diet company - Edit
Daily Planet is the perfect place to go when you have a mixed group with lots of different preferences. There are quite a few vegan options so you actually get to pick something that sounds good, but there are plenty of non-vegan options for omnis as well so it's not a hard sell. This is where I go when I want to have dinner out with my immediate family, who are not only omnivores but also kind of picky.

Delicious vegan/gf options and great service - Edit
Went here for an anniversary dinner. Amazing service and really delicious food. We had the gazpacho, bok choy, vegan ragu and the cauliflower steak. The service was exceptional and the food was awesome. For a restaurant that is not all vegan, they did the vegan options incredibly well. Will definitely go again.

Great vegan options - Edit
We had dinner here last night. Eating out for me is why I am not 100% vegan. I am vegan at home, but because my husband is not veg in any way, shape, or form, eating out means I always have to find a place with good options for me (and that isn't always vegan). The Daily Planet has that for sure! There were plenty of options for me, and everything I had was tasty. I made my meal from the small plates just because that is what most tantalized my taste buds last night. I had the bok choy, the black bean cakes, and the potato bravas. They were all very tasty. For dessert, I had the chocolate mint oreo cheesecake, and it was velvety and delicious. I will definitely make this a regular part of the rotation!
Read moreThe service was great too, and the only complaint was the terribly small bathroom. Sitting in the stall, my knees touched the doors and were at the bottom of the door so anyone entering could get quite the view. It's NOT a pleasant experience. It's an old building, so I get it, but if they ever renovate, they should make the bathroom a priority.
Great vegan options, great service, fun, bustling atmosphere....it's a winner!

Many yummy vegan options - Edit
I loved the food and the vibe in here! Got the pasta bolognese which had a rich cashew cream and the mint chocolate cheesecake with Oreo crust that was tasty and not too dense. I also had a mocktail that had grapefruit juice and maple syrup. There were vegan options to choose from in all parts of the menu.

Nice vibe. Had the vegan nachos--really tasty cashew cheese and veggies without needing fake meat. The Beyond burger was good, but could use a slice of tomato. Excellent fries. Minto oreo chocolate cheesecake was more like a mousse, but very tasty. Would definitely go back.

Yummy Takeout - Edit
It was very rainy today, so I was glad to be able to order online, take my food back to my hotel, and have a cozy evening. The buffalo seitan sandwich was delicious, especially with the vegan ranch on it. I definitely felt like the amount of fries I got was adequate, but I do think the prices were a tad steep.
