Underwhelming

I was very excited to try a lot of french pastries that I hadn't had in a while but they were pretty underwhelming. The croissant sandwich I had felt cold and the croissant felt soft and squishy like a whole foods croissant

Not fresh

Went during opening weekend and was blown away, it was so good. Lots of buzz and a large crowd. Very little seating in the bakery, but beyond the bakery is a sit-down restaurant.

The subsequent times we went back were not so good, and each time we saw fewer snd fewer customers. Their method for several items seems to be to reheat them when they’re ordered, but on our last visit we received an item that was not sufficiently reheated (still cold inside) and the filling had an unpleasantly stale, refrigerated taste. Even the other pastry, which needed to be assembled fresh, came out a worse, more amateur version of what we had opening weekend. It seemed as though they had a more skilled kitchen crew opening weekend than they did later on.

It was my first time bringing a dish back due to quality issues, and the experience was awkward. They did not offer any kind of apology or concession or inspect the food at all. I said we’d like a different pastry, and they had me purchase it. I was disappointed that they didn’t offer to replace the item, given that it was their error. My general impression of their operation is that they are stsndoffish, inconsistent, and unable to sustain their customer base. We won’t be going back. Unfortunate, because they started out strong.

indulgent pastries that are a must if in NYC

Be warned, you will be addicted. With one taste of their pastries you'll want more. I find it hard to limit myself when choosing what to get. Everything I've had has been fabulous, and their offerings are unique. One of my favorites is the eclair croissant. I don't even remember the names of all the things I've tried, but you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. The staff are also wonderful.

Oui Oui!

Little compares to an early morning in NYC, when the streets are quiet and the city feels all your own. Though the experience is enhanced when your walk is accompanied by a delicious Délice pastry. The French baking is so equiste, you are bound to feel like you took a quick trip to Paris, bringing home croissant flakes on your shirt as a souvenir!

AMAZING all vegan restaurant!!

The food here was SO good! As a lifelong vegan, I had never been able to try much vegan French food. And oh my goodness, it did not disappoint! The man working up front said that it was a family-run business. He was very kind and attentive, and when we got our food, wow! It was so delicious! I got a savory crossaint, and for dessert, I got a madeleine. The options were so hard to choose between. Such a great find!!

Pros: Endless options, Great service, Wonderful ambiance

I had been to the attached restaurant before the bakery opened so I was ecstatic to be able to try the delicious eclair croissant! I had never seen such a croissant before and I was ecstatic to try

Good but not great

Tried the pain au chocolate and hazelnut roule. Perhaps I picked wrong but they were simply nice enough, and the pain au chocolate made me think wistfully of the melting quality of Portland's Sweetpea bakery croissants. I will come back to try again if I get the chance though!

Delicious with lots of variety and friendly staff

We got several pastries and loved them. I ordered ahead and they were out of one of the items. Instead of refunding or exchanging it, they were baking it fresh when I arrived and I only had to wait a few minutes.

Amazing! 🥐

This place is lovely! Had a “meat” and cheeze-filled croissant there, which was delicious, and got a variety of sweet pastries to go for a party - all were great and people didn’t realize they were all vegan.

Delicious croissants and quiche

I come here often with my partner. They have a great variety of options, both sweet and savory. Their quiche is very good and so are the croissant sandwiches. My favorite is the petrossian, with cream cheese, caviar and capers. 🥰 My partner’s favorites are the croissant tournedos and the fruit danish. Their lattes are pretty good too.

Pros: Really good savory options, Everything is vegan

Disappointing

I was so excited to see another vegan bakery opening ! We got a "ham" and cheeze sandwich which was way too salty. We also got a cinnamon roll that tasted like coconut and was very dry. I got a lemon cookie which was ok. Lastly, we got an almond croissant that tasted like straight cherry from the almond extract and almost wet feeling (I think from the butter). I don't think I would come here again except maybe to try the chocolate croissant.

French pastry in NYC

This all-very French bakery is run by the folks at Delice & Sarrasin, and house in the same address. However, Delice de Bernay has has different hours, and a complete separate location within this address to sip your coffee/tea and eat your pastries (or savory baked goods). You order at the counter, and they begin the food to you... there is a table up front, an outside table in front, and a patio with a bunch of tables and seats in the back.

They have loads of pastry items. I had a macaron, Madeline, and a fruit tart, along with a praline latte. Everything was delicious. I should note that the Madeline and fruit tart were a hearty, rather than light and airy...that's how I like it! I don't know what a non-vegan Madeline is supposed to taste like, admittedly, my guess is that it is lighter and airier, so non-vegans might have a different opinion than I did...but again, I loved the baked goods I had here.
