A very uncomfortable dining experience - Edit
After wanting to try out this restaurant for months and getting turned around the first time, this restaurant ended up being quite an awful experience for a few reasons.
Read moreBackground: I have been travelling for six months and usually don’t have time to write reviews, but feel compelled to comment on the worst service I have experienced in quite some time.
Unwelcoming, abrasive service:
After getting turned around afew days ago 30mins before the restaurant shut, I came back again as I was really excited to try. I arrived with a friend at 7:15pm, Yuri the main hostess checked her watch and repeatedly warned us that the restaurant closes at 9pm. We were aware of this. Later on, she welcomed other local guests without questions. I later saw Yuri roll her eyes after we followed up on not receiving our tea or dumplings after our two main dishes were already served (40mins passed), to which when I looked over and saw that she spoke about us to a colleague and started laughing. I felt really uncomfortable, why were we being treated like an inconvenience after being so excited to try this? They then declined splitting the bill, and also avoided any sort of contact with us during our time at the restaurant, all the other tables were given the checks before us, even tables who came into the restaurant after us. One saving grace was an elderly woman server called Boe, who was much more warm and welcoming. Unfortunately it seemed the other staff made her collect dishes more than interact with guests even though she was the most kind.
The food:
The food was rather bland, and more expensive then any other restaurant we ate at in Taiwan. Additionally, there is a complimentary salad bar but I only knew about that thanks to reviews. They took no effort in explaining how ordering or how the restaurant works
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting, or locals who would like a warmer environment that doesn’t feel so rushed. Frankly, it was a sour end to our day to the point that I wish I didn’t have dinner at all.
Cons: Unwelcoming staff, Bland food, Expensive in comparison

Really good - Edit
This food is very nice. They clearly indicate the vegan options. Salad buffet is included. Minimum order is 350 NTD per person. Highly recommend to go with a larger group to share the dishes. I especially liked the radish cakes. Overall nice place! And they use a robot to serve part of the dishes!

High quality vegan food! - Edit
My friend and I met up here for a quick lunch. We ordered four dishes and everything was delicious! Our favorite dish was the sweet and sour vegan fish. It tasted nothing like the sweet and sour dishes I’m used to from the states. It was exceptional! Not sure what the “fish” was. I was not familiar with the vegetable they used. I predict it was a vegetable from the radish family but I’m not sure, all I know is that dish was really good! I also really loved the thai fried stinky tofu. I love stinky tofu and I love thai chili so the combination was excellent! I can’t wait to come back here when I visit Taipei again!

Delicious food - Edit
Lots of vegan options and clear labeling. Service was excellent and our waiter spoke good English.
Read moreEverything we ordered was delicious, especially their mushroom truffle dumpling which had a wholesome whole-wheat wrapper and a rich filling. The double cooked cabbage was tender and savory, and the lions mane main was hearty and satisfying. We also loved the self-serve salad bar where we could sample some tofu, pickles and other sides.
Ordering is via app, but they don’t have Wi-Fi. I’m sure they’ll help you though if you don’t have mobile internet. No AMEX excepted, only Visa & Mastercard.

Great for lunch, not so much for breakfast - Edit
Everything I’ve ever ordered here for lunch has been fantastic, and ordering the set meal is a good value since you gain access to the unlimited salad and sides bar, too which they recently added soy milk and barley tea. My favorite entree is the spicy noodles, but it’s probably not for those who are faint of the tastebuds. Their dumplings are also delicious, as are their desserts.
Read moreBe aware that the vegan chicken is actually ovo-lacto-vegetarian. If you’re vegan, order and help yourself to dishes from the buffet labeled 全素, not 奶素, 蛋素, or 蛋奶素. For instance, one of the salad dressings is lacto-vegetarian (奶素).
Their breakfast menu was not as vegan-friendly as I would have expected: even the Taiwanese crullers (油條) were ovo-vegetarian because they add eggs to the batter. I had to order the rice rolls (飯糰) without the crullers for a vegan version.
Pros: friendly service, high-quality food, delightful salad and sides bar
Cons: some tricky labels, unexpectedly non-vegan breakfast items

這是在台北市東區附近,口味清爽可口,服務也很不錯,中式(蔬)素食店,交通也很方便,座位也很多,也時常推出不冋口味(蔬)素食餐點。

High quality Taiwanese cuisine - Edit

Read moreDeliSoys is a high quality vegetarian restaurant that serves traditional Taiwanese cuisine in a modern setting.
Most of the items in the menu are vegan. The ones with eggs or milk are marked with 蛋素 or 奶素. Most of the main courses are vegan. Breakfast and tea sets have more non-vegan items.
One of their signature dishes is the pan fried dumplings with a crispy web-like crust attached to it. Although it’s a bit oily, the dumplings are crispy with great flavors.
Other dishes are also impressive. Bean paste noodles with its salty flavorful sauce, fried radish cake with its crispy edges and firm consistency, and tofu pudding “douhua” with its perfectly light, soft and smooth texture.
Overall Delisoys is a great place to try out some well-made traditional dishes.
Pros: Many vegan options and clearly marked , Delicious food, especially tofu pudding

Try it if you love soy! - Edit
Try the food there if you are soy addicted! All the courses which are related to soy are delicious! However, the food is pricy and you have to order at least 350NTD per person during lunch and dinner hours. The breakfast menu is different from the lunch and dinner one. The service is nice while that costs you 10% of your order as service fee.

We had a delicious Chinese style breakfast here with tofu, you tiao, peanut-rice milk, and turnip cakes. The restaurant has a peaceful, trendy interior. Looking forward to trying their noodle dishes for lunch.

Loved their tomato-flavored tofu skin - Edit
I loved their tomato-flavored tofu skin and organic soymilk (unsweetened). The portion sizes of the set meals are good, which includes a main dish, rice, side dishes, and a dessert. Some of the dishes are a bit greasy (for example, the fried dumplings, and the tofu skin that goes with their noodle dishes).
Read moreOrganic tofu blocks and soymilk in bottles are also for sale in restaurant.
Pros: awesome tofu cuisine , friendly staff
Cons: no WiFi for customers, could be very noisy when it gets busy, some dishes are greasy
