Yelp Top 100 Vegan Restaurants - Edit
Unassuming and modest tiny hole in the wall. They didn’t even know they earned the accolade.
Read moreFlexible menu allows you to build your order with mains and sides.
Ordered the Sweet Tea and Classic Rib plate that came with sides of Cole Slaw and Mac & Cheese.
Service was slow but worth the wait. #Veganuary
Pros: Vegan, Aristocrat Figurine instead of Table Numbers, Pre-Set or make your own plate combos
Cons: Slow Service

Always a favorite - Edit
I stop here everytime i’m in town! The food is unmatched. Probably one of my top 3 favorite mac n cheese of anywhere! I love the infamous bowl, which is a fun twist on the KFC bowl thing. The fried pickles are always a must for me as well.

So good! - Edit
I'm visiting Portland for a few days and had to try this place. It did not disappoint! So good. I ordered the ribs basket. Ribs were delicious, and the fries were some of the best I've had. Do yourself a favor and come here.

New favorite restaurant in Portland! - Edit
Absolutely everything is incredible. My husband and I split everything. We got the catfish platter with hush puppies, coleslaw, Cajun fries with a caramel apple cider. It was all to die for. I got the fried chicken platter with jalapeno poppers and fried okra with a sweet tea. It's all fabulous!

100% Vegan Restaurant! - Edit
Dirty Lettuce offers authentic Southern cuisine by way of Mississippi. I was able to visit their previous establishment years ago (Cool Al's in Memphis) & recently ordered for delivery from their Portland brick & mortar location. There's no better Southern vegan food in Portland, in my opinion. It's also in the running for my favorite overall comfort food in the city.

Fried Deliciousness - Edit
We visited on a Saturday around peak dinner time. The food was fantastic and we were able to enjoy their outdoor seating. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but everything came out hot, fresh, and crispy- so no complaints! My popcorn chicken plate was great, I had sides of Cajun mac and cheese and fried pickles. Large portion(s) and overall a good time!

I tried a few items from the menu and was not disappointed. I had the Catfish, bbq ribs and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the catfish. I highly recommend it. I will be back when I visit Portland.

Outstanding Cajun South in yer Mouth - Edit
“Best ribs” was a comment from my non vegan friend. I agreed. Texture and flavor were spot on.
Read moreLoved the hand helds, had the “meet” and spinach. Order either.
Mac was good
Greens were good
Cornbread good (and hard to find!)
Mud sauce excellent. Remoulade paired nicely with the ribs.
Popcorn chicken had a good chickenish flavor but didn’t remind me of chicken texture.
Another customer recc’d the chicken sando which he said was much different than the popcorn.
The scallops and calamari (special) were both (nicely) fried mushrooms and although didn’t mimic the seafood was still flavorable but honestly they were a fine delivery system for the mud sauce. Truth be told I could dip my shoe in that sauce and eat it. Def get a side of that and the bbq
Pros: The food, Friendly staff and chef
Cons: Small chef driven restaurant -which is also a plus, Can be a wait for food. (Worth it)

Fantastic - Edit
Ordered like 7 things between my friend and I and everything was great. Only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because with many things being fried, subsequently a lot have a slightly similar taste IMO. For example I ordered the chicken and catfish and had the expectation that the catfish would if not taste like catfish to not taste almost the same as the chicken but that was what what my experience was. Still delicious though.

Let-us eat here! - Edit
Great food! Hardest part is deciding on what to get. I got the fried chicken plate with mash/gravy and the jalapeño poppers. Chickun was crunchy and had a mild poultry seasoning to it. Mash was creamy and gravy was rich and flavourful. Jalapeño poppers were crunch and had a smoky cheese filling. Perfect to dip in ranch dip.

Fantastic! The fried chicken is better than real fried chicken. The walla walla onion rings are awesome because they're not oily but totally crispy. We will be trying everything on the menu!

Best vegan fried chicken I’ve ever tasted! - Edit
Incredibly authentic southern vegan joint in Portland. Made me feel like I was back in the south (without the humidity and deadly mosquitoes). As the title says, the chicken was scarily chicken-like! Very moist (sorry, I know that word triggers some), delicate, not overly greasy, and very tender. Side Mac slapped, hush puppies would make a Louisianan proud, and the dipping sauce was a perfect addition. Take anyone and everyone you know here - this is the perfect place to convince an annoying anti-vegan that they won’t miss anything by ditching animal products!

My partner and I came right around opening at lunch. It took a little while to get our food (~30-40), and was very worth it. I had fried chicken, greens, and Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese and greens were good but not great. The chicken was incredible and has the best breading.

Order with your heart - Edit
The hardest thing here is deciding what to order. There’s so many delicious choices and I just wanted to try every single one. Our server was so helpful and patient. My fried chicken was amazing but my husbands cat fish was next level. Our favourite side was either the pickle fries or the portobello fries. Mac and cheese and collard greens were still awesome. We had leftovers and were kindly given take out boxes.

I was so pleased. I’ve missed catfish and theirs more than hit the spot. I’d never had fried chicken before and this was amazing. Both had perfect breading.
Read moreThe Mac & Cheese, greens and coleslaw were average, compared to the southern food I grew up with, BUT, the infamous bowl was great, so were the hush puppies and cauliflower bites. Definitely give them a try my friends! Immediately hooked!

This is the best vegan restaurant I have ever eaten at. There isn’t anything that isn’t good! My hubby loves the fried chicken, and I keep coming back for the bbq ribs. If you are looking for some authentic southern comfort food, your wait is over. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the service is great. It’s a come as you are eating establishment which my family loves, comes some days are PJ wearing days! lol! My daughter loves the Mac and cheese, and the fried pickles are seriously the best I’ve ever had. Large portions, I had a full belly off one plate of ribs two nights in a row. You won’t be sorry!
