Decent donuts - Edit
Vegan donuts have gotten MUCH better over the years, so my standards are pretty high and getting higher. I sampled a couple in the early morning and felt they were not especially fresh (had sat for at least a day or more?) and tasted more bready than donutty. Flavors were fine, but I would not make a special trip.

Amazing donuts - Edit
We love their Boston Cream donuts, and they also have at least one unique special donut daily. Check their Instagram for the specials. I never was big on donuts before being vegan, but these are donuts I actually crave.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Edit
I may be overselling these donuts because I just miss yeast donuts sooo much. I only had donuts here once—and delivery, no less. I could tell the donuts weren’t optimally fresh but kinda expected considering midday delivery. The best donut was the glazed with sprinkles because it was the freshest. The Boston cream donut was a bit disappointing because the cream tastes like (and has the consistency of) pudding. I want it thicc! The daily flavor was cookie something or another and it was basically just a glazed donut with cookie crumbles on top, only not as fresh as the glazed donut and therefore nothing to write home about. BUT I MISS YEASTIE BOIS SO MUCH and I could kinda tell that if I’d visited the location and gotten fresh donuts it would’ve made a big difference.

I think I got them too late in the day - Edit
So I am fully aware that Dottie’s is a Philly vegan staple, and by no means am I discouraging anyone from all of the other great reviews, but my experience was quite mid. I got there in the afternoon, which probably affected the taste being a bit less fresh, and I ended up going for two traditional donuts- hibiscus lemon and chocolate frosted. Hibiscus lemon was better than the chocolate, but both were kind of lacking. I wish I went for a filled one… or even better the apple fritter. I don’t know if I’ll be back but my best advice is to try a deluxe or filled donut there.

Donut Worry these are delicious! - Edit
On my second day in Philly, I treated myself to a breakfast fit for champions: vegan donuts! Facing the delightful dilemma of choice, I ordered two tempting treats.
Read moreThe first, an Apple Fritter ($4.25), was delightful and delectable. Fresh, flavorful, and generously iced, it boasted hints of cinnamon and hearty chunks of apples. The size was impressive, nearly tempting me to devour it in two sittings, but I resisted the decoy.
The second choice was the Staff's Choice Matcha Pistachio donut ($2.50). Though the donut itself was enjoyable, the pistachio flavor took a backseat to the dominating matcha. While the taste wasn't precisely what I expected, the donut was still a tasty indulgence.
The overall experience left me eager to return during my next trip to Philly. If you're on the hunt for satisfying vegan treats, this spot is definitely worth a visit!

Worth a Trip to the City For - Edit
I live in Central Jersey with minimal access to vegan donuts, so I was so happy to finally get to Dottie's Donuts. The only problem I had was making up my mind about what tasty treat to get. Our group tried the Boston Creme, Apple Fritter, and a chocolate. There was no consensus about the best one because they were all delicious. I only wish someone had tried the donut with the pickle on top!

Best doughnuts in Philly - Edit
Such unique flavors that are so good they fool non-vegans. I haven't found a place that makes a vegan doughnut this good. They just started making cake doughnuts for those who prefer them over the yeast variety. Be sure to try the dunkaroo if it's available; it will make you feel like a kid again! So excited for the Wissahickon location to open; perfect for any cyclists who need a sweet treat pick-me-up!

We visited Dottie’s donuts twice on our 2 day trip to Philly because they were that good! Actually the second time there we got fritters and cinnamon rolls. The apple fritters were hands down our favorite! But I think you could probably feel good about anything you order there!

Bland donuts - Edit
I’m really not sure why this place has 5 stars. These were some of the most bland donuts I’ve ever had. They weren’t that soft, the texture wasn’t amazing, they had hardly any flavor, they weren’t even that sweet. And listen, I love me some vegan donuts. I even seek them out when I visit new cities. But these are far from exceptional. I wouldn’t even bother, honestly.

Dottie’s makes me wish I lived in Philly just so I could order there every day. I’ve only been here once and had the cinnamon bun & glazed doughnut holes, and they were absolutely amazing, which leads me to believe their other options are equally as yummy. The staff are kind & the feel of the spot is comfortable and clean.
