Great vibes and great food 🙌🏻 - Edit
Really enjoyed our visit to Down the Hatch. There was so much choice and all of it sounded so good. The salt and pepper seitan wings were my favourite part! The mac and cheese was great and so was the burger.
Read moreThey had a great selection of drinks, we had the mulled wine which was part of the Christmas menu and it was so tasty!
Can’t wait to visit again when we are next in Liverpool!

Cozy little vegan restaurant - Edit
This place is so good looking and cozy, and the food is very heart warming (mostly it's junk food, but It doesn't even feel like it). Definitely to be tried out!

Lovely Staff and Food - Edit
I wanted to start by saying how exceptional the customer service was here. Staff was friendly, and accommodating, and went above and beyond for us.
Read moreI ordered the Char Swoo Chicken with noodles and my partner ordered the Zinger Burger.
I enjoyed my dish, great portion size and the noodles were good. The burger was yum, but not rave worthy.
The venue itself is cool, and has a great atmosphere.

Bit disappointing - Edit
I loved the vibe and the staff were super friendly. There was a really nice atmosphere, unfortunately the food let it down. Since the food should be the star of the show, I'm only giving 3 stars.
Read moreI ordered the salt and pepper fella (oyster mushroom) burger with salt and pepper fries. My friend ordered the royale with cheese burger (soy patty) also with salt and pepper fries. My burger was saturated in oil, so much that as I picked it up to take a bite, oil literally poured out. It tasted okay but that amount of oil is so off putting. I enjoyed the salt and pepper fries which randomly had some part cooked onion scattered amongst them. My friend said his burger was okay. He didn't eat all his fries as he felt full. He had several sliced chilli peppers in amongst his fries together with the onion. We weren't sure how, although we both ordered the same fries, that his had so much chilli whereas mine had none. The only conclusion we came to was they were cooked together and he ended up with all the chilli by chance. On a positive note the portion size was good.
We didn't try a dessert but the dessert menu looked good.
Woo Tan Scran a vegan Chinese takeaway is based in the same address and so there's an option to try some of their food on the menu too.

10/10 food, drinks and service - Edit
It was so hard to decide what to order everything looked amazing! I ordered the royale burger with cheese and bacon with the 4/20 fries and my boyfriend got the zinger burger with kebabish fries, the buffalo cauliflower wings were unbelievable🤩 all of the food was amazing and the staff are so friendly! I can’t wait to return. We also had a few desserts all so delicious (especially the brownie!). Can’t wait to return☺️

The equivalent of two menus with a good variety of choice (faux meat and not). Friendly staff and various happy hours to help keep the price down.

Would recommend, the sundae was amazing!! Wish I got a burger instead of the wings though - as they were a small plate they weren’t filling.

Worth a visit - Edit
I’ve been in Liverpool 2 nights for a conference, luckily found this on the first night, and came back for the second. Had Chinese the first night, then tofu meatballs and seitan wings the second. Lovely friendly staff, quick service, good selection. Cosy basement vibe, nice atmosphere, didn’t feel uncomfortable at all there eating alone. The lemon beer is great too.

This place is wonderful for people with many dietary needs. I brought 10 meat-eaters here for my birthday as I am vegan and they all really enjoyed the food.

Looking for comfort food - Edit
Really cool place with warm vibe. Fantastic service. We had sweetcorn ribs and frickles to start which were delicious. For mains, hubby had the carbonara which he said was really tasty and satisfying. I had the Woo tan burger with salad and coleslaw. This was tasty and a sizeable portion. There was a bit too much sauce for my liking and the tofu was ‘floppy’. Maybe better with crispy fried tofu and then the sauce applied at the time of cooking rather than as a marinaded?
