From excellent friendly service to a truly inspired menu this restaurant is definitely a haven for vegans. So good we went back twice in the short time we had in Nelson. Everything we tried was wonderful!

Pros: Food is ALL vegan so choose with abandon, We each had 3 courses all were delicious , Creme Brule excellent!

This place is just the best. I am avoiding added artificial preservatives as they seem to trigger migraines for me. So finding vegan without artificial stuff and not smothered in oils, can be a little tricky to say the least. These guys rock. Try them!

Fully vegan menu. Ate here both nights I stayed in Nelson. Cool and quirky vibe. Had the house special which was a lasagne on the first night and quesadilla on the second. Happily recommend both. Also I had the hot chocolate with macadamia milk (out of curiosity) but may be stick with something like oat milk. The sell vego bars!!!! and other little vegan treats at the front too. Decent and varied menu; you are bound to find something you fancy.

Lovely interior, great garden seating & the best menu covers in town. Poke bowl was tasty, filling and very fresh, one of the best I've had. The noodle salad was ok but missing a bit of flavour. Try some of the homemade cool drinks, they are an interesting mix of flavours. A little shop at front for your vegan treats

Nice burgers, salads, soups, and quessedillas. My favorite was the garbanzo fingers and the 2 above, not to mention the chocolate cake. Great hot drink options and take-away foods like muffins and cookies 🍪. Always nicely presented, and they use local ingredients. They also have daily menus. Unique ambience and design inside. Worth checking it out. Oh, and often they have live music on Saturdays! 😉

Really great food (I'm an ex chef), presented well, very tasty, good portions for price. The setting is interesting & fun, well set out & not cramped. Staff are always polite, friendly & honest. I cannot find fault in East Street. I've been on many occasions, slowly trying everything on the menu, all of which I'd definitely return to buy again. 100% 👍

My hubby and I come here as often as we can because the food never disappoints. We would eat here everyday if we could afford it! We've tried nearly everything on the menu and can recommend everything. All of the food is top notch, 100% vegan and the people who work here are all lovely and friendly. We also love the abundance of plants everywhere, which makes it feel like we're eating outside amongst nature. 100% recommend!!

Be warned these are anti-vaxxers in disguise. Huge disappointment after nearly 7 months of doing it hard in lockdowns in Auckland with my vegan kids and hubby. Road trip and THIS CAFE was among main reasons to head to Nelson.

At least come out and post your anti-science views friends. Don’t try to have it both ways. Needless to say good didn’t taste great once we realised it was drizzled into defiance of public health measures in the time of covid.
Kia kaha, fellow NZ vegans and science believers. Give this one a hard pass. So disappointing.
Pros: Anti science folks so, Not thinking anti-vax tastes good, (But desert delightful)

I was in Nelson only for 1 night and now I'm really sad not to be able to return to East St! I loved everything: the vibe, the decor, the friendly staff, the amazing choice. And the food was out of this world! I had the "Friends' salad" and it was fabulous, so fresh and full of flavour and love (bits of smokey vegan cheese, nuts, beautiful dressing...). My friend had the tempura veg which I tried, and they were bomb. Fab!

Such yummy food! Lots of great food and drink options! A fun atmosphere and the food is absolutely delicious. The food is creative, good portion sized and in general just fantastic. Fully vegan too which just makes me want to go there 100 times and over!! Amazingly well priced with fantastic service. So cool to go for a full vegan dinner experience. A must go if you are in Nelson
