Great little Mexican restaurant - Edit
Came here at the recommendation of a friend. Great little spot, clean and great service. I had the gorditas with barbacoa. Very tasty. The only slight negatives were that the portions could be a little bigger (I’m a big eater) and disposable plates. I’m coming back next Saturday to meet up with friends. Give the place a try! We need more good vegan restaurants!

Wonderful! - Edit
I had a chimichanga al pastor and a slice of a sort of pudding pie. I ate too much, as the food was too tasty to stop. The chimichanga was much larger than the menu picture seemed to show. I love this place and want to go back.

Inner child is very pleased - Edit
Everything was totally vegan! They offer a large selection of "meat" styles and delicious dairy free cheese and sour cream. The Nachos Norteños are heaven. Tamales were fantastic as well. And I loved the baked goods!!!

100% Vegan Mexican Place - Edit
Hardly ever see a 100% vegan Mexican place so I wanted to stop in while passing through Dallas to check it out. This place was really neat. The 4 taco plate was insanely delicious. It was pretty awesome trying all the different vegan meats/marinades on each taco. Flautas and Gorditas were also really good but I'd highlyf recommend the tacos plate to get an idea what they're all about.

Truly amazing - Edit
I am Mexican born and raised. I’ve been vegan for 5 years. The vegan options where I currently live are not abundant (in fact they keep closing) so my husband agreed to drive us an hour to El Palote for my birthday. We went at around 2p without having eaten anything. We got a jamaica and horchata for our drinks, a torta (chicharrón con salsa), flautas, 3 tacos (barbacoa, chicharrón con salsa, and al pastor), loaded fries with al pastor, an enchilada, a tamal, menudo, concha, and a rebanada con mantequilla y azúcar. This is by far the BEST vegan Mexican food I have had since I’ve been vegan and since I moved to the US. The experience was so great, we stayed for an hour and a half because we were just savoring everything. The flavor of the barbacoa is so spot on, my husband (who is not vegan) said it was the closest to real barbacoa he’s ever had and I agree. I have no clue how they make their meats but it’s no wonder they sell them by the pound. If I had a chest freezer I’d buy 10lbs so I could always have some at home. The flavors are so great, it reminded me of home. I hadn’t had menudo in years. I hadn’t had vegan tacos that good in years. The whole experience made me want to cry. It was truly so special.
Read moreI would have paid any amount to eat here but it’s so reasonable, we spent maybe $100 for everything I listed.
Muchas gracias.

Just okay - Edit
I've eaten here about four times over the years. The first time I tried a meal was at a vegan or veggie food festival, and it tasted delicious. The times after that were through delivery or dine-in at the restaurant, and the meals just tasted okay. I've had their nachos, tacos, rice, and beans. While dining in, I didn't like that flies were flying inside of the glass or plastic containers where the food was. I was concerned about the cleanliness, as there was no urgency on their part to get rid of the flies.

Amazing authentic street tacos. They are so good you doubt it's vegan. Awesome family owned resturaunt, the al pastor taco platter is the best. I even take my omni friends/family, and they love it.

Pan Dulce! - Edit
Not gonna lie, I went because of the pan dulce lol. I miss pan dulce so much so to be able to order from a case full of vegan pan dulce was amazing and we did go a little overboard lol.
Read moreFirst off, the staff was amazing. They have a lot of protein choices so we were asking about them and they offered to let us try them…so we picked out 4 and they brought samples. We liked the al pastor and the fajita the best. We got the loaded fries, the elote, and horchata. The loaded fries with the fajita protein was so good and the elote was good too but it came in a cup and did feel like it was missing something.
One complaint I did have was that our food and drink all came in styrofoam and this was for dining in too…so that was a bummer.
Pros: Helpful staff , Let us try proteins , Delicious food
Cons: Styrofoam plates and cups even for dine in

The crispy chicharron was out of this world! They have the vegan meats down to a flavorful and delicious science. Also, their desserts are phenomenal! Will be going out of my way for many years to eat here for sure.

Great place! - Edit
They’ve got everything you could hope for. Plenty of protein flavor options and everything we tried was delicious (good texture and ‘meaty’ flavor). The rice and beans are solid. Got a filling chimichanga plate and taco plate with drinks for under $40 and it’s all vegan! Very nice staff as well.

Amazing, authentic Mexican food with 9 options for vegan meats! I got four tacos, with four different meaty fillings. They were all great and the rice, beans, and salsa were perfect. I wish I lived next door

Excellent authentic Mexican vegan food - Edit
Visiting family in Dallas for Thanksgiving. Had to try this place and not disappointed. I got to sample several of their mock meats at the counter when ordering. Fajita was the all around favorite for my vegan family of five (kids ages 8, 11, and 13), especially on the torta. We also got the nachos supreme, several a la carte tacos, flautas, and the classic pan dulce box. The only thing we didn't finish were the fries that came with the torta, which says everything about how much my family enjoyed the food.

This place takes Tex mex to the next level, taking traditional Mexican flavors and finding new innovative ways to present the food. I ordered the flautaritto which is a burrito filled with flautas. Enough said, right?

Always worth the visit - Edit
Discovered this restaurant was two miles from where my mother grew up and knew I had to visit it when I was in Dallas late 2019. Everything was good! Tacos were my favorite, not to mention all the desserts. Ended up taking extra to eat later. I’ve now ordered their tacos and nachos online multiple times and I never want to share!

Vegan Tex-Mex and Trad Mex - Edit
Im Mexican first and vegan second. So my review comes from my Mexican side . Also I’d been wanting to go to this restaurant for years but had never been able to time our road trips through Dallas when they’re open.
Read moreThe service was lovely. The girl up front was sweet and knowledgeable and patient cuz it was our first time there.
The place looks just like a traditional Mexican panadería and café and “tiendita”. Very clean , warm and welcoming. Norteña music was blasting from the TV. Reminded me of our parties with my family when I was growing up!
Now the food :
The marranitos (piggies) were a little dry.
The fries were decent but most Mexican restaurants are not known for their fries.
The coffee was ok but I’m a total coffee snob so I am a harsh judge. I won’t even drink Starbucks. They had Califa hazelnut and silk vanilla soy creamers as options. Not my favorite creamers but they were fine.
The rice and beans were perfect. Great flavor and texture.
The salsas on the table were excellent, not too spicy tho.
My flautas were delicious! It had been years since I had flautas cuz they’re not typically vegan so I almost cried with how good they were. And they were not greasy just flavorful.
My daughter and husband had the BBQ sandwich. I had a bite and it was so good! Very smoky and sweet.
My son had the enchiladas and he inhaled them
Before I could get a taste. He said they were “just fine” .
We all shared the loaded fries. Amazing ! Even tho the fries are just decent/ok, the toppings were so good and flavorful. We devoured the whole thing between 4 of us.
Now for the best part: the pan dulce . Oh my. I had pretty much accepted when I became vegan that I’d never eat pan dulce again. Oh my. Seriously better than I remember “regular” pan Dulce. My husband is not vegan and he does not like regular Pan Dulce because it does tend to be dry. He loved the custard/strawberry pan he got. Not dry at all . We each picked one (different varieties) and took more to go. The only one that was so so were the marranitos, but these are made to dip in coffee so they’re meant to be dry.
Please check them out when you’re in Dallas. Hoping to be able to hit them up on our way back from our road trip.
Pros: All vegan tex Mex , Excelent service , Pan dulce !

Best Mexican food I've had in my entire life. - Edit
El Palote Panaderia is more than just a restaurant. It is a humble, wholesome, family owned and operated open hug! The food is leaps and bounds better than any other Mexican restaurant that I've ever ate at. The hospitality is second to none. The prices are more than reasonable. This is love in action folks. I encourage everyone to come support this Superb place!
