delicious but not worth it imo - Edit
You already know this place will be super expensive, so I'm not telling you anything new. And the food was delicious, the restaurant was beautiful and the staff were lovely. It just speaks more to how many amazing vegan restaurants there are in Berlin, that I didn't think the meal we had was much better than tzu tzu, or la stella nera, or 1990 (if you'll tell me that yes, other places are good, but a tasting menu is something special), or any of the other great Berlin vegan options that are available in the 10-20euro price range. We had a great time, and I'm sure a crazy amount of work goes into it - I'm not saying it's an unfair price, I just wasn't blown away enough to justify spending 100euro.

Once-in-a-lifetime (Maybe twice 🤭) - Edit
My girlfriend took me out for a very special dinner. You have to make a reservation and it's very pricy. We had a five course menu and drinks and it cost around 300 euros total. I enjoy it a lot! Every bite was full of taste and I will never forget it.

What a way to wrap up our European trip! - Edit
Every trip we take, my husband and I always book a special restaurant on the eve of our departure to home. Frea definitely did not disappoint us. Impeccable service and absolutely delicious food. Our four-course meal was a festival of unique and delicious flavours. The love and passion put in the creation of each dish are surely evident. This experience was a real treat!

Good stuff - Edit
A bizarre amount of work goes into the experience here, from baking the bread in-house to alcohol-free drink pairings with each dish. They forgot the pairing for my dessert and the service staff looked crestfallen and apologised profusely. I didn't mind, that's just how it goes, but they gave us a free drink and deducted a fraction of the price for the pairing so I'm more than happy.
Read moreThe zero-waste thing isn't a joke; for example, the bell pepper dish has the juice of the roasted peppers poured over as a jus. The flavours combine really well for my liking and there are a few bold choices of ingredients, which is right up my street. Glad I've been but I couldn't afford to go to such a place too often.

High end tasting menu - Edit
The recommended 4 course tasting menu was so creative and appropriate for the summer season. We loved that they used the whole kohlrabi in a creative dish that included savory and fermented elements. The croquettes made with eggplant (aubergine) and potatoes were delicious, but a little too oily for our preference. There was a roasted cauliflower dish served with a warm chickpea and almond based sauce that was delicious. We liked the dessert course the best - it was a black rice cheesecake served with a plum sauce. We tried both the alcohol and no alcohol pairings (we shared each) and this really added great complementary tastes to the meal. We will definitely come again if we are in Berlin!

Great concept, but didn’t love it - Edit
I thought I would absolutely love this place, but in the end it was very nice but I won’t be rushing back.
Read moreWe chose the 4 course menu. My friend and I picked different dishes. They all looked amazing, the servers were able to talk through what they were. We had several different servers. They all seemed to have different jobs. Getting the bill at the end of the meal took a little while because at first they weren’t paying attention and then the person we asked had to tell someone else, which she was in no rush for.
For me, the taste was not as flavoursome as I expected and so I’m glad for the experience but won’t be rushing back.

Mixed Feelings About Frea - Edit
The service at Frea was friendly and accommodating. The food was tasty, but I think my expectations were too high, influenced by what others had said and the green star rating. It didn’t quite live up to the hype. The dishes were good but lacked that special spark that some other fine dining places have. Additionally, the drinks took longer than expected to arrive, and our food was already on the table by the time we received them. This was unexpected for a Michelin green star restaurant. Consequently, I felt the price wasn’t justified by the quality. We had planned to return, but we canceled that idea. It was okay but somewhat underwhelming, possibly due to the menu and flavors.

Great evening - Edit
We had an amazing dinner. Each course was very well put together. Tastes complimented each other without drowning each other out. We chose a 4-course with the non-alcoholic pairing and the accompanying drinks were very well chosen. Our waiter was very attentive, accommodating and just a general joy. Each dish and drink was explained which we enjoyed a lot.
Read moreAlso the complimentary dishes from the kitchen were a nice surprise.
Even though the courses are somewhat small, they are rich in taste and after the 3rd course we were actually getting quite full.
The zero footprint circular dining concept is a marvel as well. Products normally seen as waste are now being used in making drinks, sauces and other food items. Everything that can't be used for food or drink will be composted and given back to the farmers where the food comes from.
We reserved our table well in advance and were originally seated inside. Due to the lovely weather they had no problem accommodating us by switching us to an outside table. The only downside to sitting outside though is the rather busy road located directly next to the outside seating area.
The restaurant is not cheap but fairly priced.
Upon arrival we were made aware of the 2 hour table reservation, meaning we had 2 hours to dine after which we would be expected to take our leave. Though this is a foreign concept to us, which is within reason as we are not from Germany, we did not feel extremely rushed and had enough time to finish our 4 course meal and enjoy our dining experience.
Our after-dinner tea was a bit delayed which meant we were already past the 2 hour mark when the tea arrived but we were not rushed or even notified that we were staying past our reservation time. There is some wiggle room and it came across more as a guideline than a rule. So again, we had enough time and did not feel rushed although I did feel distracted by having to keep in mind what time it was.

Cons: 2 hour dining limit, pricey, Next to busy road, When it gets busy service consitancy wavers

Mixed feelings - Edit
We had a nice evening with 3-5 courses, food was delicious or good, Service was ok- the waiting times were very long (it was very crowded), they forgot a drink, mixed up the orders, took away my plate I was about to eat... Pricey but nice concept and they were friendly.

Inconsistencies - Edit
We went with the 5 course meal and one of us with a non-alcoholic pairing. The amuse bouche was interesting enough to get me excited about FREA. The first course had great plating. Things were building. The second course, potato and parsley, was delicious and creative! The third course, the gnocchi, was even better! Then we were asked if we were getting dessert, and the waitress was confused on if we had ordered 3, 4, or 5 courses.
Read moreThen what happened? We were randomly left for 30 minutes with no food. Not even water check-ins. Throughout the meal, some of the drink pairings were forgotten, too. Then, when the main course did finally come, it was very underwhelming. The whole menu up until the main was very lovely and complementary, then suddenly, there was a poorly executed mole paired with a non alcoholic "margarita" that tasted purely like salt.
We were both given a pre dessert with blood orange flavor. One of ours tasted like pith, and the other tasted like blood orange. Then we were asked if we wanted a coffee/tea intermission before dessert, and we said yes, we did want coffee. Well, that never happened. They forgot completely. Then the real dessert came, and it was way too sweet to the point of being unappetizing.
Service was mixed. We had many different servers, and it was very disorganized. The guy who seated us had the most charisma and customer service skills out of anyone. But we never saw him after the first 5 minutes of being there. I was most disappointed by another guy who was responsible for bringing out two of the dishes. When he did so, he ignored my existence and only explained the ingredients and dishes to my dining partner. Didn't even look at me even though it was my reservation. I observed this server doing similar things at other tables, like only explaining dishes to whoever "looked like" they'd be the one paying or something? It felt awful. Various other service mishaps happened throughout the night, but I should stop here before it gets too long to read!

The food was amazing. Lots of complex flavours and interesting textures. Unusual combinations. Great drinks list - I had the non-alcoholic dill aquafaba drink which as I type sounds not very nice but was absolutely delicious.

Perfect food... but still overpriced - Edit
You must order a menu of between 3 and 5 courses. If you take the 3-course menu with food and wine pairing, it’s €96/person. All the plates were delicious but small. The service was warm and perfect. They offered some really nice extras. Amazing place, but designed for a higher social class, we didn't fit in.

Super nice - Edit
I heard about this place from friends and thought I would give it a try. The atmosphere is fancy but in a chill way, a little more relaxed than Ark(vegan Michelin)in Copenhagen, but similar vibes. We had a hangover from clubbing so we just went with 3 courses and the non-alcoholic pairing.
Read moreI went in with Ark as a reference for vegan diner dining, and even though FREA isn’t quite at the same level, they still deserve the 5 stars. This especially because of the value for money. We paid around 200€ for two which is cheap compared to the quality of the experience, for reference ark was 200€ per person, and the food wasn’t far off their quality.
Pros: Atmosphere , Service, Price
