Not vegetarian, they serve seafood - Edit
This place is not vegan or even vegetarian.
Read moreWhen ordering I confirmed everything is vegan. But we were given a bowl of bamboo curry that contained dried shrimp with shells on and everything. We had ordered too much, so only noticed this upon finishing our left overs we had taken away to our hotel.
The lady responded to our Google Maps question that it was intended for “the pescatarian client”. But there was no one else there. Also how does a vegan or vegetarian resturant suddenly serve pescatarian dishes?
Owner tried to blame it on us for not immediately noticing it. I’ve been vegan for 10 years, never had dried shrimp. When it’s mostly ground up anyway, how am I supposed to notice? It’s not the customers job to check if there’s seafood in a supposedly vegan meal, I’d never expect it in what’s labelled here as a vegetarian restaurant! This doesn’t happen by accident. You don’t crush up dried shrimps in a vegan kitchen without noticing it.
The restaurant also smells like dog piss.

Delicious proper vegan food - Edit
I had a delicious bamboo curry with rice. The other special was tofu and mushroom curry. There were many other choices on the menu but I'm not sure what was available. I assume the other items would need to be made to order?
Read moreThe owner was lovely and chatty and definitely understands what is vegan and what is not.
The place is small and authentic and cash / qr code only. Personally, I've not been able to use QR codes with my UK banks.
My two top tips are:
1. Don't wear a fresh white t-shirt
2. The white 'plate' that the food bowls arrive on is actually a tray! I was only a little embarrassed 😆
With a lovely, refreshing ice passion fruit drink, the total was 20 ringgits. Astounding value for such high quality food and drink.

We had the bamboo curry a few weeks after this... It contained dried shrimp with tails and all, which the owner now claims was “for the pescatarian client”. Even if there was no one else there and we had confirmed everything should be vegan. Wonder if you noticed anything wrong with the dish or did they do it just for us?

Lecker und sehr freundlich! - Edit

Sweet little place - Edit
We had a very warm welcome and even better food. Also it was very cheap.
Read moreWhat's confusing is, that the lady told me, that everything was plantbased but she uses eggs and butter!

Some vegetarian came in and they do request butter or cheese, so I have to have something on standby. Next time I will ask if the customers are from Happy Cow or whatever cow, so will not get them confused. Thanks for reminding.

Amazing food and lovely person - Edit
This place is a hidden gem in Kuching! Fern is a lovely lady, understands the concept of veganism and happy to make all the dishes vegan. I forgot to take a picture but the food and drinks were amazing. Fern sat with us and offered lots of tips and stories from her life. Made it a lovely experience

Friendly, personal and the freshest food - Edit
I don't know how this little place survives, it was so quiet but an absolute gem of a place. The menu was limited to pasta and a tofu "dish of the day". The pastas all sounded amazing and it's all prepared and cooked freshly to order by Fren. Really good value for money and delicious.

The laksa was simply delicious. Fren is so kind and sweet, such a lovable personality. It's easily the best vegetarian restaurant we've tried in Kuching!

Delicious food and drinks, lovely owner - Edit
Really nice little place run by a lovely owner. The food we tried was amazing; I had the laksa pasta which was very tasty. My partner had the sambal tempeh which was equally as good. Nice drinks too, although I forget what I had. All very inexpensive too.

Affordable Vegan Meals - Edit
Entirely vegetarian with multiple vegan options. Nothing specifically gluten free, but the woman running the shop understood what it meant and was able to make it work. Small/friendly place. If you go, give Chloe (the dog) a good petting.

Cozy - Edit

Vegan fusion menu - Edit
The menu is vegan except for one page that includes fish and a few items that include egg. The opening hours are not always consistent and the there are only 3 tables. Dishes are western cuisine with a Sarawakian twist and some items on the menu may not be available (Fren will tell you what she’s serving that day). It’s one of two restaurants in the tourist area that understand veganism so it’s a great option on the waterfront. Plus Fren has a very cute dog.

Cons: Items are not clearly labelled vegan
