Good for our Meat-eating Family - Edit
We were trying to find a place that all of us could eat at, and Front Street Cafe seemed to have an interesting & diverse menu.
Read moreFirst, let me say that they accommodated my wishy-washy reservation numbers, plus special needs well. The space is really nice, and staff too. Rob served us, and couldn’t be more accommodating.
My gf and I both thought the FSC Benedict looked good, and got one with the Mushroom Bacon, and one with the Lentil, Mushroom Scrapple (patty). The ‘egg’ was a tofu scramble, served over an everything English Muffin. I really did’t care for the scramble part, and the mushroom bacon was sweet (ich). Really liked the scrapple patty, and ended up getting some olive oil for the toast & eating the patty open face on it.
Her breakfast potatoes were so spicy (heat), most everyone couldn’t eat them.
I got the loaded fries. Have to say, the fries themselves were great, but the ‘loaded’ part was way too spicy for me (Rob did say as much).
My animal-eating family liked everything they got (except for the spicy potatoes).
We got sides to share, vegan: Blueberry Pancakes with vegan vanilla cream sauce was tasty, though *sweet* — especially the candied walnuts … whoa, talk about SUGAR!
Non-vegans had the Banana Waffle Bites — which were bananas battered and fried — looked amazing.
My end of the table got iced coffee with oak milk — good!
As a b’day candle delivery: Rob brought out the Oreo Smores ‘cake’: RICH, dark chocolate (reminiscent of Famous Chocolate Wafers) outside, a gooey chocolatey inside, covered in a melty marshmallow top. Again, very sweet.
Pros: Space, Variety on mixed menu, Coffee
Cons: Too much heat & not indicated on menu, Sweets were too sweet

Interesting and tasty place - Edit
Wow! A nice place that has plant based as default and meat/dairy marked on items. A great change from the usual. As such, there were lots of options for food.
Read moreThe Brussels sprouts and the Buffalo cauliflower starters were delicious!! Amazing appetizers. The butternut squash risotto was a bit odd, kind of too sweet, but still good. The blood orange dessert was nice too.
One star off because my friends' entrees were not nearly as exciting... for some reason their pasta & sweet potato fries dishes tasted really weird, as did the dessert. So quality a bit inconsistent. Still, I enjoyed my own food a lot.

tasty and friendly service! - Edit
I had the delicious front street breakfast with tofu scramble, mushroom scrapple, and breakfast potato choices. It comes with smokey black beans and toast automatically. I thought the food was all very tasty. I do wish the scramble had some onion, pepper, or other veg in it. The scrapple was a bit oily but still good especially with some hot sauce. The toast came dry but my server asked if I wanted vegan butter or jam which was great. On top of the good food, our server was very friendly and attentive!

Just okay - Edit
I've been to Front Street several times as it's in my neighborhood. My experiences have been quite mixed with both the food and overall service. For example, portion sizes and even the taste of the same menu item can vary. In general I've also found some of the staff to be rude (this is a place that automatically adds a 20% tip so I'm not sure why).
Read moreAt times the cafe will do menu specials and it's great that they are inclusive of vegans. Although the one time I decided to try a special, the menu clearly specified the items included. When I politely asked after noticing that an item was missing, the server simply said "no, it's not included" (okay, but I can read, and you're still charging $35 plus a 20% tip for it). Personally, I've decided to skip Front Street in the future. There are plenty of other excellent places in the city accommodating vegans that won't make you regret spending your money.
Pros: Decor, Several vegan items on menu
Cons: Rude staff, Inconsistency , Expensive

Your brunch go to - Edit
Had a fabulous brunch here with friends! I got the vegan eggs Benedict with the scrapple it was so satisfying and the side salad was a fresh compliment to the heavy entree. Also got a turmeric latte very good! It was so hard to choose a drink because everything was sounding great. Also shared some loaded fries the cheese and fake bacon was so tasty!! Would love to come back another time especially with friends because there is something for everyone.

Not happy with brunch - Edit
Went and ordered the vegan eggs benedict with the mushroom scrapple. Ended up just picking at it and just eating the tofu scramble ontop of it and the potatoes, I wouldn't order it again

Great brunch - Edit
I had a really good experience here. We went for brunch (a mix of vegan, vegetarians and omnivores) and everyone was pleased. I got the tofu scramble breakfast, which was terrific. Very friendly staff too. Loved the mushroom "bacon," which thankfully still tasted like mushrooms, not fake meat. Fair prices.

I used to love this place - Edit
My husband and I used to love this place. My go to was always the tostada grain bowl, but then they changed up the ingredients and messed it up (imo). The only saving grace is the buffalo cauliflower, its pretty damn good.

Unfriendly unhelpful & denied our reservation - Edit
Made a reservation directly on their website, showed up that evening 15 minutes early for our reservation and they said they were closed. The incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful manager/owner came out and was extremely rude to us and didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience. Just kept saying “I don’t know what to tell you we turned reservations off for tonight” when we had clearly made a reservation and then just rolled her eyes and walked away. Will not be returning.

Always a Great Meal! - Edit
Front Street simply never disappoints! The cashew mozz sticks are so good, as well as the buffalo cauliflower, and last night I had a cauliflower gnocchi with a creamy spinach sauce, acorn squash, and sunflower Parmesan. It was a perfect fall dish with tons of flavor. For dessert was a (huge) piping hot apple crumble with berries on top.

10/10 - the food, service and atmosphere are all wonderful. Our server, Irma, was friendly and knowledgeable about vegan options. The fried mozzarella appetizer was my favorite. Wish I could give it 5 stars!

Best meal I’ve ever had - Edit
The best restaurant meal I’ve ever had—vegan or not! Each time I go, the food is rich and complex in flavor. There’s lots of meal options and all in big portions. The experience proved how delicious veg food can to my doubtful meal-eater friends! Wait staff is friendly, atmosphere is hip, and prices are high but on par with the quality/quantity.

FSC is one of the most under rated vegan restaurants in the city. - Edit
I eat at FSC often. My daughter goes there often with her friends.
Read moreThe Tofu Benedict is delicious. I personally like the tofu scramble breakfast sandwich. They have a wonderful mushroom bacon. Right now they have peach topped vegan pancakes and today they had a pull apart cinnamon loaf with vanilla cream.
The FSC vegan burger is one of the best homemade burgers I have ever had. My daughter loves the Mac-cheese. The buffalo cauliflower is the best I have ever had. They also have several flavors of Dottie's Donuts during breakfast.
The atmosphere is cozy and spacious. Outside eating is during the nice weather is a nice treat. Frequently FSC holds live entertainment in the upstairs room. I have been to one of the shows and my daughter was just at one of these shows a few weeks ago. It is convent to have a good meal and go up to a show.
In the front of the restaurant is a coffee bar and they have a full bar in the dining area. I have never had a bad meal here.
On a side note not food related, but may be important is that FSC has a well maintained bathroom.
Pros: Great variety of vegan food, Nice atmosphere , Decent prices for lunch and dinner
Cons: Parking is close, but $20 in the evening, Street parking is hard to find at peak times, Some of the tables are a little too close together

FAVORITE. PLACE. EVER. - Edit
If it were completely vegan, this would get 50000/5 stars. But, sadly, I can only give it 4.
Read moreI have lived in the Philly area for my entire life and I have tried nearly all of the vegan-specific places in the NJ/Philly area. Although I am all for supporting vegan businesses—and I prefer to do this—Front Street Cafe is always my undoing. They have an amazing staff, their location is large and roomy, and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. There are plenty of delicious options for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert.
Some of my favorites that I highly recommend are:
-tofu benedict, mushroom bacon, or acai bowl for breakfast. (They used to have green pancakes that were out of this world but they are sadly off of the menu)
-VEGAN French onion soup (please get this), buffalo cauliflower (an FSC classic—the best I have ever had), and the kale caesar salad with grilled tofu (best salad you will ever eat. Vegans, fall into the stereotype one time and try a this salad!) for lunch.
-Mac and Cheese for dinner. Other things are great, too, but I love their Mac.
-VEGAN TRUFFLES. VEGAN CHEESECAKE. VEGAN MOUSSE. VEGAN BROWNIE. great vegan desserts, basically.
Pros: DELICIOUS, amazing ambiance, roomy
Cons: a little pricey

Delicious breakfast - Edit
The tofu scramble with side of potatoes was very, very good. The decaf Americano with soy milk was less good (their soy milk separates 😢). Lovely decor, nice employees.
