A 100% plant-based all-day brunch restaurant since 2020 specializing in eggs Benedict, açaí bowls, burgers, assorted pastries, specialty coffee, juices, smoothies, more. Everything is made from scratch in the Frutas Prohibidas workshop including vegan meats, eggs, cheeses, breads, and more. No reservations but has a booking system at busy times where a table can be requested and a wait time is given. Open Wed-Sun 10:00-18:00.

Stunningly Great Brunch/Breakfast - Edit
For Vegans, Breakfast and lunch get left behind or stripped down to basics; We get avocado toast or the occasional tofu scramble. Frutas Prohibidas has decided to provide something more and provide it at an extremely high level.
Read moreThe Eggs Benedict (no matter the style you choose) is a marvel of vegan ingenuity. I was stunned by the texture of the outside. I was stunned again when I cut through it to find the gooey yoke. I've never had anything like it in my life. Paired with the hollandaise sauce, truffle pearls, and parmesan cheese, It becomes the perfectly concocted dish.
We also ordered two drinks: the Red velvet latte (Beet and chocolate) and the blue latte (Spirulina). The red velvet latte has a delicate taste, but the Spirulina was wonderfully sweet and full of flavor.
The sleek, modern decor is comforting and cool. Get there early because the place fills up quickly, watching as multiple groups were turned away within the first half an hour of opening. You will not be disappointed.

A great find in a good location. Worth a visit! We had the Benedict and it was so realistic, the ‘egg’ split perfectly - all the flavour, none of the exploitation! Win win! Friendly staff and a great atmosphere inside. Juices also delicious!

Fui porque decía que era de los mejores recomendados pero la verdad es que se me hizo muy salado y para nada me gustaron los sabores. El sándwich de huevo no me lo pude comer ni a la mitad del sabor, no me gustó para nada. Pedí también una golden milk y esa si estuvo buena. Se ve muy instagrameable eso si, pero a los que nos gusta comer sí que nos decepcionan estas cosas. Prefiero que se vea feo pero que esté delicioso y no al revés.

Love the food there! Super inventive spin on brunch classics. Also some unique food items you would never expect to be vegan like realistic eggs! I have taken non vegan/vegetarian friends and they have been very impressed.

Service is always friendly and food is quite quick. Love going here it’s always the nicest brunch and best way to spend a weekend morning.
If you go on the weekend for brunch often you need to wait for the table but if you sign up for the wait list the system texts you when your table is ready so it’s nice to sit in a nearby park

Amazing vegan eggs! - Edit
I went to Fruta Prohibidas on a Sunday morning at 10AM (when they opened) for breakfast. I got the eggs benedict and a soya latte. The eggs benedict was unlike any vegan egg dish I had before, it was amazing! It came with bacon slices and avocado on a thick fluffy broiche bread. The staff were lovely, and I liked that in addition to the bill they also provide a "carbon bill" letting you know how carbon emission you have saved with your meal.
Read moreThis cafe doesn't take reservations, so I would recommend getting there early on a weekend morning, like I did. Seats were filling up by 10:30AM! The nearest Metro station is Plaza España, and it is walking distance from the Gran Via.

Read moreI landed in Madrid around 9:45am and got to my hotel for a quick nap before going out. Last time I came to Madrid the restaurants I went to didn't open until late in the evening and after my nap I was so hungry. I opened the happy cow app and found this place.
I almost walked by it because it doesn't have a protruding sign, but luckily my GPS was spot on and buzzed at me when I walked past the door.
Inside I was greeted immediately and seated without a reservation (November around 4pm on a Sunday). The menu is a QR code and the website is really beautiful. It has pictures with descriptions and allergy information. It also has videos of the dishes being prepared and plated. It's really fun!
The staff all spoke English to me and I appreciate that. Although I am trying to learn Spanish and I'm only going to get better by trying to speak it - I didn't force it here.
I really liked that all the food had names that referenced the Bible in different ways. I also felt very glutinous after the amount of food I ate, but it also was the only meal I ate for the whole day.
I ordered the Tumeric Latte, Eggs Benedict, fries, water, and carrot cake.
The turmeric latte was a little too sweet and I wonder if I had gotten a different milk if it would have been less sweet. I chose soy milk because I like the taste (usually) and nutrition.
The water was bottled and tasted great.
The eggs Benedict was perfect. If I didn't know it was vegan I would not have been able to tell the difference. The brioche bread was thick and soft and absorbed the "egg" and sauce. I also really liked getting the salad in my bites. Everything about it was enjoyable and tasty. I was very impressed.
The fries were a perfect consistency - a little crunchy, but definitely not overdone. And they had the right amount of salt.
The carrot cake was perfect and too much after all of that food. I couldn't finish it. It was moist and soft. The flavor was incredible and the frosting wasn't too sweet.
Overall I had a wonderful experience and highly recommend checking this place out if you are in Madrid.

I had gone to Frutas prohibidas a loooong time ago and the place was so packed I could only get a cake to take away which was not super convincing. Went again today and I was finally able to try their famous eggs Benedict. I was blown away…! I don’t know how they make that egg but it’s incredible, there’s literally a yolk and everything. Music was a bit too loud for me but other than that it was great

Wow! The Benedict eggs are mind blowing and understandably one of the chef's recommendations. I'd say that the flavours are extremely close to the original ones, even way better, as my tastebuds and mind are disgusted by anything that fakes an animal product so much, making me feel I'm eating something not plant-based. Also the brioche was unbelievably buttery, but again; in a good way. The homemade lemonade with charcoal was delightful as well. Everything is offered in a cozy and very welcoming setting with perfect service. Add to me to the list of people who are in love with this spot.
