Cozy Comfort Food - Edit
I love to visit green cuisine. The atmosphere is really nice and peacefull here. There are nice sheltered benches outside to have a meal on even if its raining. So many food options. Every time I stop by GC there is always something new in the buffet style food trays. I especially love the unique ways they cook up their tempeh with. Do not miss out on visiting GC you will not be disappointed.

Updating from 9 years ago - Edit
There is definitely a market for this place as it was packed full when we visited. However, the price makes it off limits to those on a tight budget and better quality is offered for the same price around town. It has not seemed to change since I visited 9 years ago. There are a lot of options for food, and a lot of options to nickle and dime you for items (ten cents per squirt of liquid aminos for example). I took my omni partner who is always quite open to vegan options and he was not impressed. The two plates shown in the picture were about $20, and as you can see, it isn't much food. I am really interested in finding out the background of what keeps this restaurant a happening place in Victoria.

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We also really love your question! We are the first vegan restaurant, cafe, and bakery on the island and have been operating for nearly 30 years with a strong following that is continuing to grow. Our customers love our commitment to making fresh, healthy, and delicious food available almost every day of the year and at an affordable price. For those of us on a tight budget, we are one of the few places that you can get a piece of focaccia bread and a bowl of soup for around $5. We support many local and global non profits doing important work for animals and our environment, through initiatives such as our Climate Action Discount Card.
Read morePlease note that since we are a pay by weight restaurant, if you put the heaviest and densest items on your plate you are going to pay more. You can check out our menu online every day to see if the flavour profiles and dishes you like are available that day before you come in.
Please let us know if you have any suggestions on how we can improve in the future, we would love to hear your ideas!

Even more expensive than vegan food in lower mainland Vancouver - Edit
The buffet was charged by weight. I doubt me and my boyfriend actually ate 1.6kg of food which worths $38 in total (we didn’t pick up that much food). The plate alone was so heavy and I don’t know if it was deducted from the total food weight. $3 for just a small bowl of soup which tastes bland, other food tastes weird as well, either too spicy or too sweet or no taste at all. Though, the cakes taste really good, we like the deserts. I hate complaining but I think they need to improve the taste of the food to match with the price.

Hello Ichigo, thanks for leaving us a review. Since we are a pay by weight restaurant, we never charge for the weight of the plates themselves -- the weights of each plate is deducted. If you are taking the densest and heaviest items and filling your plate with them, naturally it will be a higher cost. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience as we hoped you would! Please note that you can check out our menu online every day, so you can see if the flavour profiles and ingredients that you like will be available that day.

AMAZING!!! - Edit
This place is so amazing! Fully vegan buffet style - pay by weight. I think it was about $2.30/ 100g. We got big plates of dinner for 5 people and it was only $60! They have amazing looking deserts and ice cream as well. Nice location in the square with lots of space for dining in. 100% recommend going here!!!

Amazing + varied vegan buffet - Edit
Green Cuisine *only* has a large vegan buffet, where you pay by the pound (sorry, gram). There are always lots of amazing options, ranging from Chinese to Indian to middle eastern, Japanese, Russian, whatever. Salads, tofu, tempeh, rice, sushi, beans, potatoes galore. AND the most insane array of vegan DESSERTS you’ve ever seen in your life: ice cream, pies, cookies, brownies, holy moly. A vegan could have a panic attack thinking about all the amazing options here - but that’s the best part: it’s a buffet, so you can have a little bit of EVERYTHING. Looking forward to our next trip to Victoria just to come back!

Very good healthful food! - Edit
Stopped here for lunch with my partner, was amazed at the variety of foods! What I thought was most surprising, was that made deserts had no nuts/tree nuts in them, which is ideal for me because of my allergy. I didn't try everything, all of it looked delicious! Highly recommend coming here.
Read moreThe only downside for me was the cost, I'm happy overall to pay for good food but it's hard to gauge the weight of the plate and therefore the price before getting to the register.

Whether you’re vegan, plant based and oil free, or even an omni, you will find food you love here! I started with a large plate of mixed greens and piled it high with hot and cold veggies, rice and beans, tempeh and 3 types of dressing - I chose all oil free (except one dressing). It was so filling and delicious!! All for $12. Love this place!

Quick, Convenient & Very Good - Edit
We enjoyed it. Some people said the food was bland or too spicy but we didn’t find either to be true. My husband and I each filled a plate and got a dessert for a little over $30 and we were both full (me a little too full)! We thought the food was great and it was nice to have something quick and easy. We will go back for sure.

Expensive and meh - Edit
This place is priced by weight. My boyfriend and I each got a plate and a cup of soup. We didnt even have that large of a plate each and for both of us it came to $52! This was for lunch. While we were stuffed after this meal it's definitely not for people on a budget or anyone that eats more than a small bird. The taste of the food was just okay, pretty bland. I definitely wouldn't go back.

Cons: Very expensive, Food was just okay, Only paid street parking is available

Hi! Thank you for your feedback. We have a wide variety of dishes and many additional sauces and dressings that can be added on, so we are sorry that you didn't find the flavours you were looking for. Yes we are priced by weight, so the heaviest and densest items all over the plate will make for a higher than usual cost. Let us know if there is anything you think we can do to improve!

Expensive, bland or incredibly spicy - Edit
We paid a fortune for a single plate of food and a smaller plate with desserts. The tofu marinara had hot peppers in it. The curry rice was flaming with hot curry. The falafel had added cayenne. The aloo gobi was flaming. All I could find that was not spicy was the dilled potato wedges, fresh tofu roll, and some disgustingly bland yellow lentil dal. They were out of both soups at 6:45pm( close at😄and the salad greens were wilted. Don’t waste your money unless you like expensive, fiery hot or bland food. $30 for one person and I did not fill up my plate. I would give them no stars but happy cow is rating them a two.

Green Cuisine is by far my favourite vegan restaurant in Victoria, BC. Everything here is made from scratch and several menu items rotate daily. Okay but not amazing - Edit
Buffet style which is nice so you can get as much or as little as you like (charged by weight) and lots of variety and things to choose from. But to be honest found everything I tried pretty bland and uninspiring. The coconut curry tasted of just coconut milk and not much else and the terriaki tofu was also pretty tasteless. The Mac and cheese style pasta and noodle salad were nice but not great. Seem to have lots of drink options too, juices, coffee etc and desserts but I didn’t try any. Seems popular so maybe I got them on a bad day I don’t know. Lots of seating.
