We can't wait to return - Edit
Lovely, lovely stay at Green Tiger House.
Read moreThere's a relaxing, laid back feel to this hotel but this doesn't diminish the outstanding service and accomodation.
I do believe our room was upgraded - we paid for a standard room but the room we had was huge with a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. No-one said anything but I can't believe what we had was standard!
There's an effort to reduce plastic here and we appreciated things like the cotton buds being cardboard tubes and contained in thick paper bags.
The bedlinen and towels were spotlessly clean and the towels were incredibly soft.
Despite thinking it was a little firm to start with, the huge bed provided the best sleep of the trip so far. Lovely soft lighting added to the relaxed feel of the place.
Reception staff were very patient in helping us book tours, organise laundry washing, store our cases and so on.
The hotel itself is well located, just inside the old city and back from the main road, so it's quiet. Taxi's and tuk tuks travel along the main road all the time so it's easy to get cheap transport.
We didn't use the pool but it looked nice and plenty of people were using it.
The breakfasts are fantastic - we loved the fresh fruit and yoghurt. Even hot food is served very quickly here.
We didn't see everything we wanted to in Thailand and we'll definitely come back to Green Tiger House when we book trips to Thailand again.
Pros: Lovely staff, great service , Relaxed vibe, Breakfast

So special - Edit
Reform Kafé is our long-time favourite restaurant, so it only made sense to spend our tenth year anniversary there and FINALLY stay at the hotel.
Read moreThe room was a bright, modern take on traditional Thai style, with stunning views over the golden-topped pagodas and planes flying low past the mountains in the distance. The AC was a bit loud but otherwise worked well, the shower pressure was perfect and the doors and windows were well insulated from bugs. The mattress was also Thai style—on the firm side—but that’s what we prefer, and the bedding felt really good quality. Everything is indeed vegan, down to the organic soaps and non-feather pillows.
The food is (obviously) incredible. The unlimited à la carte breakfast menu felt really luxurious and we tried almost all the savoury items available. The whole wheat bagel and scrambled tofu with sourdough were highlights.
The first night we were there it poured down with rain and it was so cosy sitting in the lobby area drinking smoothies. If you stay here during monsoon season and you get hit by a storm, you know you have a comfy vegan food haven to retreat to.
I can recommend Green Tiger House wholeheartedly. The location is ideal, the staff are always very smiley, and with that lovely breakfast included it’s decent value for money. Knowing everything is vegan allows you to just relax and hopefully have as special a time as we did!

Beautiful Stay - Edit
I stayed at Green Tiger House for three nights in Chiang Mai. The place is very pretty and in a great location within the old town. My stay included breakfast which I’m glad it did, it was absolutely worth it and amazing selection. All tasted really great. Their bath products are all cruelty free and natural. My room was on the last floor with a balcony. You get to see an amazing view from the common terrace on that floor.

Lovely hotel but a few significant issues - Edit
We chose to stay at GTH because it was promoted as a fully vegan hotel. It is nicely located in a soi in Old Town, walking distance from many temples, attractions, interesting shops and cafes. The atrium is beautiful opening out into a garden, with indoor seating, reserved for guests, and outdoor seating and tables for Reform Cafe patrons. Our room, while not cheap at ฿2,650 a night, was pleasant, a decent size, air-conditioned with a nice view over buildings and temples. The lock on the door, the safe and the lighting weren’t amazing and the door scraped along the floor when opened. While there was a balcony with a great view, the door to it was raised above the ground so you had to step over a wooden panel to walk through it. On the first occasion I bumped my shin on this and bruised and cut it quite badly. There may be reasons why the door is positioned like this, perhaps to reduce the number of small creatures crawling under it, but to me it was a hazard that put a damper on my experience and will reduce my rating of the hotel. Overall this is a nice place to stay, but not a budget option. #Veganuary

Heaven - Edit
I stayed at Green Tiger House for a week, it was a treat to be able to be able to order breakfast, lunch, and dinner from the vegetarian menu (they’ve since gone all vegan), in a tropical garden with cat friends. The staff is nice, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the pool is tiny but tranquil.

A dream! - Edit
One of the best stays ever, the hotel is beautiful, staff is lovely, and the food is amazing! If you stay in the hotel, the breakfast is to die for, huge portions, all vegan, delicious food! You can also order it from the menu. We ate there almost every day, loved it! I wish there were more hotels like this.

We absolutely loved this place. We stayed for several nights and ate several breakfasts and dinners in the restaurant. The massaman curry, kao soi, and spring rolls were all memorable, and so were the decadent breakfasts.

Best Restaurant i've ever been to - Edit
Every evening we spend in chiang Mai we went to that Restaurant. The food is super delicious. It's a bit more expensive compared to other Thai Restaurants, but it's worth the price and the portions are really big. The whole atmosphere is so nice. Although i've been there 10 months ago i think about it at least once a week 😂

Wonderful magical place! - Edit
This hotel has a commitment to the environment that feels like a reimagining of what a hotel can be, from the vegan food to the solar heated water and other small gestures that add up. For instance, a dumbwaiter brings luggage to the rooms and there is no elevator (first floor guest rooms are available). Guests are encouraged to fill up their reusable bottles from a filtered water dispenser in the lobby. Rooms are well appointed and super comfy. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Best of all, the food is unbelievably delicious!!! The incredible breakfast is huge and the choices on the menu are plentiful, including Northern Thai specialties as well as more “western” choices like pancakes. Coconut yogurt and fruit started each morning before the main chow. If you are vegan and traveling, you know that breakfast can often be the most challenging meal of the day, and it was such a relaxing treat to enjoy such wonderful and abundant food. Lunch and dinner are also delicious, with many choices. Toast, coffee and tea are available throughout the day. And the four cats who call the hotel home are delightful.

Vegan oasis in Chiang Mai - Edit
My wife and I stayed here in the spring of 2019 when visiting her family in Thailand. The restaurant and hotel were perfect for our needs. The staff is pleasant and accommodating, they really made us feel at home. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. I loved being able to wake up in the morning and go downstairs to a menu full of vegan food. Not having to dissect the menu for vegan options made dining a stress free experience. I could simply order anything on the menu. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant and hotel.

Read moreThe green curry is outstanding and the Massaman (which I don’t usually get) was very nice.
Although more expensive than your average Thai restaurant, it’s well worth it and is probably the best value and tasting food for any of the restaurants I’ve been to in this price range.

My home away from home - Edit
Living in Bangkok, I often come up to Chiang Mai for long weekends and holidays. There have been two occasions where I went to Chiang Mai and the Green Tiger was booked full so I had to stay somewhere else. Both times were such a disappointment that I now refuse to go to Chiang Mai if I can't stay at the Green Tiger. It is perfect in every way and I feel so at home here!

Green Tiger Home - Edit
The owner must change the name of his ho(s)tel to Green Tiger Home, because that's what it feels to me. I intended to stay only some days but now I'm already three weeks here. Very friendly employees, good beds, calm atmosphere (if you want to play beerpong look for another place). And the rooftopbar you can lay out your yogamat.
Read moreEDIT: this year I stayed here for the third time in this place. Maybe they should change the name in Green Tiger Love. The staff is still wonderful, food delicious and the energy of the place is so warm and positive. It's getting better every year, now they have a Trash Hero water point and yoga mats to borrow and soon they will be 100% vegan!

Hotel not hostel - Edit
I booked to stay in the dorm room with eight beds. It was very quiet which was nice but lacking any kind of hostel vibe (there wasn’t really any kind of communal area or hang out space)

Staying here was really THE BEST choice. The hotel is adorable and the staff is very nice. What about the food? They have a great breakfast with vegan options (scrambled tofu, muesli with rice milk...) and a menu for the restaurant during the day with other vegan options. Everything was great here.
