Organizes a weekly free buffet/meal which is always vegan as of 2021. Food is from products that markets would have thrown away, in an attempt to reduce food waste. Helping out in the kitchen, bringing your own leftovers from work, or helping with some of the dishes after is a welcomed but not obligatory. Best to reserve via the forms on its website. Open Wed 19:00-21:00.

Like a second home - Edit
I’ve been volunteering and organizing at GZG for almost 6 years. It was fundamental for me when I moved to Rotterdam and a great way to connect with other vegans in the city. I love the goals of the project: preventing food from going to waste, promote a plant based diet and create community. Please come by, I’m pretty sure you’ll have a good time!

Super Supper Club - Edit
Baskets of bread and dip were distributed to each table. Shortly after, we were served chestnut mushroom soup, which was tasty. Then they set up a self-serve buffet with a few dishes like curry, white rice, and stir-fried vegetables. I'm not sure what everything was since there were no signs, but I enjoyed what I tried. Later, they set out banana bread. A full-course dinner for free!

Pros: all vegan, free meal, reduces food waste, feeds the community, all volunteers
Cons: dish names not labeled

Amazing social place - Edit
Lovely place with very good, healthy food and a cosy atmosphere. Guests come from all sorts of backgrounds and ages. Nice conversations, music and singing. Lovely!
Read moreThe buffet is free but donating shelf-stable foods is much appreciated, such as coconut milk, olive oil and dried herbs, from their “grocery list” on the website.

Love this place - Edit
Went here and loved it. You have to make reservations because a lot of people are coming back regularly. The food is delicious, there is no menu because the ingredients differ every time.

Good food and nice atmosphere - Edit
Disclaimer: biased review since I've helped to set up this project.
Read moreWith a group of fantastic volunteers all passionate for healthy sustainable eating we're running an initiative against food waste. We collect food from (super)markets on Tuesdays, and cook a creative full buffet on Wednesdays. We have space for approximately 45 guests, and the atmosphere is casual and welcoming to all. Our meals are free of charge and aimed at bringing people together and introducing them to the delicacy that are vegan dishes.
We are looking forward to meeting all of you at one of our weekly dinner parties. You can reserve a spot via the website.
Since we depend on voluntary working hours and donated ingredients, there's also a possibility to help us collect food, cook or wash after if you want to give something back to our planet. If you are interested in helping out (thank you!!), even if just for one evening, you can sign up via our website :)

A happy place to be a cow :) - Edit
I've followed this initiative from the start and have been really impressed how it has developed and grown without any financial assistance.
Read moreThe creative and dedicated atmosphere in the open kitchen goes some way to explain this and you can quickly tell that the chefs helping out enjoy making good food and believe in the vegan cause.
Coming to GZG is a rewarding experience on many different levels and I highly recommend anyone in the neighbourhood to stop by!
Pros: Unique concept to tackle and expose food waste, Delicious food without spending a penny, Young and friendly group of volunteers
Cons: Ambience lighting could be improved, Had to ring the doorbell to get in
