Restaurant est. 2018 serving vegan food and drinks in a casual-intimate setting. On the menu are classic Spanish dishes as well as other rotating dishes. Dessert and beverage choices are aplenty. Relocated from Calle de Alejandro Rodríguez.

I wasn't super impressed by this restaurant. The price is quite high, especially for drinks. The portions are OK, but not big. We had the "ribs", which were really nothing special (especially for the price) and the cachopo, which was good instead! I would've been curious to try the calamari, but it was too expensive for me to get that too.

Veganized Spanish food - Edit
The all vegan restaurant offers typical Spanish dishes veganized, which is a challenge in itself. It wasn’t the best vegan food I ever had, but it was okay and very nicely presented. The staff was super friendly and the place looks really nice and modern. Considering that you order several things to share it is a bit more on the expensive side although comparable to other regular non-vegan Spanish places.

This restaurant has always been pretty good. From its origins as a small Barrio restaurant, to its now fully fledged iteration as a fancier restaurant in Central Madrid.
Read moreSome of its charm was lost in translation, and I kinda miss the old barrio pride, non-profit initiatives and charity support of the old venue, but the food has gotten even better.
This is not a cheap restaurant, there ain't even a daily menu. But you can get true delicacies like Pastela (Moroccan sweet chicken pastry), Oxtail or truffled ravioli. Deserts also offer scrumptious options such as a the White Chocolate Cream or the Passion fruit Cheesecake.
If price is not an issue, every dish I've ever had here was excellent.

The food is delicious. They have a lot of options too and nice deserts. It's a little bit more on the expensive range, but nothing too crazy, generally plates range around 10€, but you usually order a couple of them, plus drinks. I love this place for more special occasions like birthdays, and it's nice food for non-vegans too, so they can explore new foods.

Llevábamos tiempo queriendo probar este restaurante, pero la verdad es que me ha decepcionado. Lo mejor fueron los calamares, aunque alguno estaba poco hecho y se notaba la harina en el rebozado. Pedimos patatas bravas y estaban ok (patata casera confitada y con una última fritura, la salsa también bien). El cachopo: not my cup of tea. Ni me gusta el falso bacon ni los procesados, así que me sabía a una mezcla de sabores que no suelo tomar.
Read moreA la hora de pagar, nos metieron una ración que no habíamos tomado y pusieron el cachopo 4 € más caro de lo que aparecía en la carta. En total 16 € extra, cuando se lo dijimos al camarero ni se inmutó, fue a cambiar el ticket y al volver tampoco se disculpó. Nos quedamos flipando bastante y sentimos que nos habían querido timar. Si al menos se hubieran disculpado no me quedaría con esta sensación, pero así, difícilmente volveré a este sitio.

Comí fuera, en una terraza muy agradable y bonita. El camarero fue muy atento. Pedí la morcilla y realmente dudé de si no era “real” ya que estaba buenísima!!! Y el tartar e de aguacate y quinoa. La tarta fue carísima aunque muy buena.

Si fueras zero waste te podrías llevar tu botella contigo. Nosotros no obligamos a consumir bebida. Lo que obligamos es a no consumir bebida por la cara ya que ese servicio de agua “gratis” requiere tiempo tanto para servirlo como para mantener la limpieza de los vasos y jarras.Si quieres puedes venir a decirle a los trabajadores que ese tiempo no se lo puedo pagar en nombre del supuesto zerowaste (las botellas son de cristal y se reutilizan).

The best vegan restaurant with terrace in Madrid - Edit
Good quality, big sizes, nice presentation, beautiful crokery, nice attention, warm decoration inside, good terrace, many options in the menu (you can go many times and order different dishes every time). For me, the best restaurant in Madrid with terrace, as, because of the Covid, I have not tried the ones with no terrace yet. I have gone different times with different friends and will go on enjoying its menu. Congrats for such a good restaurant. Best dishes for me: pastela, berenjena mozárabe, tartar de aguacate, rabo que no es de toro, ravaioli de beyond meat, risotto de boletus. The ones wich could improve or just not interesting: heura asada sobre wok de verduras, "bacalao" con tomate y espárragos (I don't need to have "bacalao" and the preparation even doesn't remember bacalao).

Flipamos con el sabor de los langostinos y los chopitos. Platos muy bien imitados en general. Carta bastante amplia, tanto de entrantes como de principales. Algunos platos son un poco caros, aunque están muy elaborados. Uno de los camareros fue bastante pasota y muy poco profesional.

Hakuna Matata veggie is definitely in the top 3 of the best vegan restaurants in Madrid. They have a very versatile and creative menu, you can go for more healthy or heavy options, depending on what you crave. I had the “fake rabbit” and really liked it. My dad, who unfortunately still eats fish, was absolutely delighted be the calamares. I also loved the design of the restaurant, it is a nice plan for a fine dinner. And what also needs to be mentioned, this was the best pina colada cocktail I ever had since I turned vegan!
