Creative Veggie Rolls - Edit
While walking around Old Town, we decided to stop by for lunch. The menu has a vegetarian section, and our waiter was vegan-aware. I tried two rolls and liked them both. They were creative, which I appreciate. They were not more expensive than vegan sushi at other places, but I am always flabbergasted by how much they cost compared to their sea life counterparts… it is all veggies. I personally would rather spend the money at all-vegan sushi spots such as Gorilla Eats or Vegan Mirai, but with non-veg people, it is a decent choice.

The service was goad nd the sushi hit the spot, with fresh ingredients and reasonably well-prepared rolls!
Read moreI found the flavors to be a bit restrained, although the addition of wasabi and soy sauce did help. While the sushi wasn't particularly spicy, it lacked the depth and complexity I've experienced at other sushi restaurants.

We arrived at 12:15pm on a Monday and even though their hours start at 11:30, they were closed and did not answer the phone. It was a huge bummer so we will be checking in with them before driving out there again.

Love Harney sushi!!!! - Edit
I have loved this place since I moved to San Diego 17 years ago! They have a separate plant based sushi menu. Whenever I go out for sushi at a non-vegan spot, I always end up ordering something boring like avocado or cucumber rolls but at Harney, I get to have the fancy and inventive rolls like the omnivores get! Proof that sushi doesn’t need seafood to be absolutely delicious!

Ok sushi, be vigilant for vegan - Edit
They have a “vegetarian” menu that can be made vegan. BUT....! Do not talk to the young hosts. They have no clue what the word Vegan means. Must talk to a manager or chef. We had to check our order and asked them to make a sushi roll again without cream cheese, even though the roll we picked didn’t have cream cheese in it. Be careful and vigilant and you can get vegan sushi. Their vegan ponzu sauce is very good.
