A spacious vegetarian restaurant that features Japanese cuisine with a few western dishes as well. Menu offers a selection of vegan sashimi and sushi rolls (with mock salmon, eel, avocado...) plus other choices like vegan ramen, tempura, gyoza, hand rolls, katsu curry, and bento sets. Dishes can be made vegan upon request if they're not already. No alcohol, egg, or the five pungents used. Moved to this busy locale on the ground floor in 2011. Open Mon-Sun 11:30am-2:30pm, 5:00pm-9:00pm. Last order 2.30pm and 8.30pm.

Katsu curry & Ramen are bomb! - Edit
This isn't a particularly cheap place but the food is excellent, and the portion sizes are big! The ramen was tasty with deep umami flavours although I felt the noodles were slightly overdone. The katsu curry set was excellent. Loved the fresh salad and the little jelly dessert too. Looking forward to trying other menu items next time cos the sushi looks amazing too.

Amazing Japanese food! - Edit
We’ve been there for dinner twice and it was amazing! Fully vegetarian, many vegan options. The Sushi was a 10/10, would highly recommend the „meat roll“. Also very delicious Ramen & Udon noodles

Delicious - Edit
Allergens are clearly labeled and there's loads of vegan friendly dishes. The yakitori skewers were amazing and the sushi was so tasty. I tried the "sashimi" but it wasn't really for me. I've never had real sashimi so can't compare but it looked very similar! Ordering is easy via the tablet but if you want miso soup you have to order from a staff member as it's not on the tablet menu. Definitely recommend, great food and quick service.

Excellent vegetarian Japanese food - Edit
Been here for the second time. Tried the chilli crab and avocado maki. Both were good, but chilli crab one was delicious.
Read moreTried the hot spicy noodles, though they said it will be spicy, for my taste it felt flat. However broth was rich and flavourful.
Quite expensive dinner but worth it.
Pros: Vegetarian food, Quality with quantity , Ambience
Cons: Expensive

Incredibly good food, nice atmosphere - Edit
Oh yeah! so far, 7 days in Singapore trying different veggie restaurants for all meals, this place is truly a stand out.
Read moreI got one of the bento box dinners so I could try multiple items and it was huge and each item was fantastic. Yes, it's a bit pricey for the area but, it was totally worth it and back home it would have been a total steal at this price. Bento and a nice drink, I paid 40SG and I'd totally do it again.
They don't post the menu outside and I normally don't walk into a place not knowing what the general price point will be (I can be cheap) but, I was feeling adventurous and it looked comfortable so I gave it a try.
You order on a iPad, the staff was nice but they were not talkative at all.
Pros: Bento Box!!

Kid approved vegan noodles - Edit
The kids loved this place. Despite the humid weather outside, once we walked in here, all they wanted was hot Udon soup! We had the spicy ramen, the tempura udon, and two types of sushi. All of it was tasty (but not really spicy). The ambience is also nice to be able to sit and eat in the dining room . It’s probably tourist prices, but we were tourists, so it was fine.

Fab meal - Edit
We found this great veg restaurant … place was full as soon as it opened. Delicious veg sushi, cold soba noodles, tempura veg was light and flaky, avocado salad was perfectly dressed and grilled mushrooms cooked to perfection. Highly recommend and great price.

Herbivore, Singapore - Edit
The server stated the only non-vegan item they use is dairy, and that each item is marked on the menu as to whether or not it contains dairy, is dairy free or can be made dairy free. It'd be better if the menu specified which dishes are vegan by default or can be made vegan on request. Food was tasty. Bad form they charge money for tap water.

Pros: Tasty food

Just delicious ! - Edit
We ordered sushi and a chicken teriyaki bento box. Everything was so fresh and each item had its own individual texture & flavour. It was hard to believe the food was vegan especially the teriyaki. A wonderful meal.

Fantastic sushi and ramen - Edit
I think we’ve tried all the vegan options they have, both sushi and ramen (there’s a lot). It’s all wonderful! Have eaten here several times and will no doubt be back next time we’re in Singapore.
Read moreOnly slight negative is that they decorate all the sushi with the same sauce, which makes everything taste a bit similar.

Vegan Options Clearly Labelled - Edit
Allium-free and eggless vegetarian eatery, vegan / non-dairy options are clearly labelled. Quite pricey but it's one of the few Japanese veg eateries in Singapore. Would recommend the unagi maki, shiitake maki, and katsu curry don! Located within Fortune Centre, few minutes' walk from Bencoolen MRT or Bugis MRT.

Incredible food but lots of dairy used - Edit
This is a beautiful Japanese restaurant with outstanding food and good service. Only downside is how much dairy there is, particularly as you can't order a coffee or hot drink with plant milk. Otherwise it would 5 stars!
Read moreFOOD: Got two kinds of sushi - the crispy floss maki and tempura maki. The crispy floss is incredible. They used mock crab in both which was delicious, never had it before and I loved it. Also ordered the yakitori skewers which were nicely cooked, and the deep fried fish which was excellent. 5 stars for the food!
SERVICE: Excellent - no sooner had I dropped my chopstick, than the waiter was by my side giving me a new one - thanks!
Pros: Great range, Impeccable food
Cons: Don't offer plant milk for hot drinks

Food still good - Edit
Not my first visit here to fix my ramen cravings. Ordered the spicy ramen and gyoza this time. Almost finishing my ramen, my gyoza hasn’t been served and so I asked the staff; she checked and advised it’s being prepared (but I guessed they have missed out my gyoza order). Not sure why the staff here always don’t make you feel welcome, they are not the enthusiastic kind when serving you, it has always been like this since the many times I’ve visited. But then if you need something they are still quite prompt.

Seriously overpriced, bland food. - Edit
We had sushi, sashimi, teriyaki fish and teriyaki mushrooms. Te sushi and sashimi were good, but overall the food was very bland, and we wished we had gone to one of the other vegetarian restaurants in the building which probably would have been better, and certainly would have been less expensive.

Good sushi - Edit
Second time dining at Herbivore. Didn’t have a reservation, & they were busy, but got seated quickly & enjoyed edamame, seaweed salad, & the avocado salad with yuzu dressing which was a big enough portion to share. Ordering using the tablet at the table was easy.

Best vegan Japanese in Singapore - Edit
Been coming to Herbivore for years and it has never been anything less than stellar. Almost all the vegetarian options can be made vegan and is all delicious. Though pricey, portions are big and the quality of ingridients is great. Go to dishes are the California Rolls and the Katsu Curry bento box.

Decadent sushi but then vegan - Edit
It’s like western decadent sushi but fully veganised. I thought the prices were relatively okay but you could get cheaper food in Singapore. Still, highly recommend!!!
