Lots of options - Edit
Most things on the buffet were vegan when I went. The food was all pretty good and pretty cheap.

Yummy Hare Krishna food - Edit
We had the buffet style pay by plate meal, and there were plenty of yummy whole foods for me too choose from. I'm not used to paying $17 for Hare Krishna food so felt kind of pricey but I'd probably have paid that much for it anyway especially post covid and I do want to support them.

Went there on Saturday for lunch, they had buffet only in a counter with a sticker saying”Vegan counter”,

Tiny buffet with only one vegan option - Edit
I went here because I read great reviews about a separate vegan buffet but was very disappointed when I got there.
Read moreThe "buffet" consisted of 3 currys, plain rice, roast potatoes and vegetables. Only one curry was vegan and pretty bland for my taste. Sorry to say I will not be back

Love Love Love this place - Edit
Gotta love a place where all you have to ask is "is it vegan?" without having to explain beyond that. Food is basic Indian, nicely flavored, plentiful, and fresh as buffets go. People are super nice, prices are very reasonable, dining room is spacious. Great place to bring a group of folks for lunch. A definite go-to in Wellington.

Decent buffet food - Edit
For the price ($17 for medium plate, $20 large plate) there are other places in Wellington I'd prefer more, but it's still very, tasty and filling food. Note, there are two sections, one for vege food, one for vegan. So don't waste your time in the wrong queue!

Quite alright - Edit
I always like the Hare Krishnas for their vegan food, and also this one didn't disappoint. They could have had a bit of a bigger selection, but for about $12 you get a full plate of food, which is reasonable for New Zealand prices. The food itself tastes good, not spectacular, bot not bad either. Would go back here if I lived here.

Rather disappointing - Edit
This centrally located eating place is below-ground (I didn't see any accessible entry). The decor is generally dreary and the furniture a bit random. We ate from an extensive menu but were not impressed with the range of vegetables in the chow mein which turned out to be mostly a lot of noodles and a bit of cabbage. The food in the buffet on an early Saturday evening had more variety but the puris were rather dry and the poppadums rubbery. Did we just pick a bad time to visit?

Higher Taste is probably one of my favourite restaurants. The BEST food with pretty good prices. Sometimes I can't fathom how delicious the food I eat there is. Whenever I am in the area I try to go eat there.

Good simple food, not much atmosphere though - Edit
This place is great for a quick, filling and easy buffet-style plant-based meal in central Wellington. We took small children there and they felt welcome. There are lots of different areas so we could sit away from other groups and not feel like our little ones were bothering them. We filled up two large plates and was fine to ask for a smaller (empty) plate to scoop some onto for the little ones. Water jugs and glasses everywhere to help yourselves. Nice clean bathrooms out the back.

I frequently visit here for lunch and for a $10.50 small plate, I can get rice, dhal, delicious roast potatoes, 2 puris & a couple of vegan curries, along with salads.

Good food - Handy Location... - Edit
I was in the city for work meetings and between appointments I only had time for a quick lunch. Higher Taste is located at a centrally located area of the city CBD in the Old Bank Arcade.
Read moreAlmost everything in the buffet was Vegan (1 cottage cheese based dish) & for $6.50, I got a selection of dahl, spicy potato, some fritters and rice. All very fresh and tasty and served quickly by friendly staff. Perfect for a short time frame!
It's a no-frills restaurant but it's clean and tidy and was busy and lively when I visited.
Other lunch items in the heated cabinet looked good too! ....Pakoras, samosas, etc.....I need to return with more time next visit so I can try more options! Recommended.
Pros: Tasty food., Good lunch time selection., Very reasonable prices.

Don't wonder about it, just do yourself a favour and go try this place! Lots of different options, good prices and tasty food! So good I visited twice on my two days in Wellington. My only advice would be to take some headphones so you can drown out the repetitive music (no offence)!

Delicious! - Edit
The staff is helpful and will guide you through the menu, especially if you're vegan. My favorite vegan items are A) Masala dosa - huge and filled with curried potatoes, comes with sambar, tomato chutney and coconut chutney. It's amazing and very satisfying, plus very reasonable for the portion size. B) Veggie Pakoras - go in the morning around 10AM when they're fresh. Trust me, they will be crispy outside and soft and fluffy inside. Don't forget to use the sweet sauce available at the counter. Pakoras make a delicious breakfast! C) Their daal is delicious. I get it whenever I opt for the buffet bar. Vegan items in the bar are usually daal, mixed vegetables, papadum (they fry it to perfection so it's always light and crispy, yum!), poori, red cabbage slaw, and pickles. The bar is a good deal when I'm in the mood for daal, especially because you're allowed to pile your plate as high as you want. It's a single visit bar, not all-you-can-eat, so make the most of it and use the rice to create a pond for the daal.
