Aesthetic location - Edit
Our first time trying house of fu after seeing it on the head row for a few years!
Read moreWhen we arrived they didn’t have a table for us even though we booked a week in advance. We arrived at 6:15 (our booking time) and were finally seated at 6:48. This was a little frustrating but thankfully we didn’t have anything planned for after. They seated us upstairs where we bought some drinks. For starters we got the vegan dumplings, whipped tofu with beetroot and kimchi.
They were all good but my favourite was the whipped tofu because it was so creamy and worked so well with the toppings!
I got the tofu tonkotsu which was okay, I wasn’t wowed because I felt like it lacked a little bit of flavour. My partner got spicy miso tantanmen which was much better, it was a little spicy and the vegan mince worked really well!
Pros: Good spicy miso ramen
Cons: A long wait to be seated, Tonkotsu lacked flavour

Fun venue, flavorsome food - Edit
This restaurant has a separate cocktail lounge, along with karate rooms. The restaurant has a nice fun vibe. The menu has a number of both vegetarian and vegan options. To start I had the Fu shiitake and kale gyoza, followed by the spicy tofu rice bowl, both were a good portion and full of flavour. Will be eating here again!

Wish I could give this 5* - Edit
The food, service and ambiance were fantastic. Lovely staff very happy to give recommendations and were very knowledgeable about vegan options/ substitutions that could make other dishes vegan. Highly recommend.

Great vegan options - Edit
We tried the ramen and the cauliflower bowl, both were very tasty. Some vegan starters and a vegan dessert. On the day they had an extra vegan starter as well, so fair choices

Mediocre ramen spot - Edit
Had a few suggestions for this place from others but I wasn't blown away.
Read moreRamen was ok. It was tasty but nothing special compared to other independent Asian restaurants. It's an ok spot for you to go with non vegans.
My glass was also chipped and cracked. The service was meh. Then they added on a 9 pound service charge for 4 people which I was very shocked about. Don't usually think too much to it but definitely didn't think it deserved that. But paid non the less.
Don't think I'd personally visit again.

Yum! - Edit
I'm not very knowledgeable on ramen so can't say what makes good ramen, all I know is that I thoroughly enjoyed these. My friend and I both ordered vegan ramen (I added extra tofu to mine) and we shared a cauliflower in hot sauce starter.

Style over substance - Edit
There's nothing WRONG with the food from here but their vegan options are limited and not particularly impressive. Just can be a bit bland (some of the dishes compensate with spiciness). Still not bad taste wise and prices are fair for portion size.
Read moreIt's very cool and on-trend, love the neon signage etc, it's super instagrammable. Apparently they have karaoke rooms which sounds fun.
If you want the best ramen in Leeds - go to Bento Merrion St, it's only a short walk and they have a full vegan menu.

More about the ambience than the food - Edit
I’ve eaten here a few times, mainly because it appeals to my two teenage boys who still prefer style over substance. The place looks great and has a buzz but the food isn’t that great. The ramen is the best thing I’ve had on the menu so far but the broth and noodles aren’t made in-house so it really lacks flavour, which sadly they try and make up for by drenching food in sweet chilli sauce or mayo.
