Mid Carne Asada Tacos - Edit
It took a while to get our water. The tacos had so much lettuce it took away from the flavor of the vegan carne asada. The carne asada was forgettable. Ranchos Cocina is way better.

Extensive Vegan Menu - Edit
We had a delicious dinner and had so many options to choose from. They were also very happy to work with dietary restrictions, change the menu around, and offer suggestions for gluten free/gain free options.

I had the enchilada combination plate, and had one soy chorizo enchilada and one with nopales. Both were great!
Also, went back the next morning for breakfast and had the tofu rancheros. Also delicious! The breakfast vegan menu is also extensive- I wish I could try more of their offerings!

More options than most Mexican restaurants - Edit
I was so happy with the vegan options here. I'm used to going to eat at a Mexican food restaurant and having only bean options. I had a fish taco and Apollo asada taco and they were both delicious. Margarita was great too.

Lots of vegan options beautiful interior nice patio great place to go when you’re in San Diego  they have the best salsa that they just put on the table with your chips of anywhere I’ve ever been ever ever. It is spicy and flavorful every time I have it I get to think how thankful I am that it’s in my mouth.

We love coming grrr for great Mexican food. The enchiladas and tostadas are our go to but you can get vegan chicken or vegan chorizo on anything. Highly recommend!

I haven't come here for years - not sure why - an amazing extensive vegan menu. Margaritas were great! Prices are very fair and the service could not be any more friendly! Forgot to take a picture of the vegan fish taco, which is a 10 out of 10! And free parking in the back!

It’s so silly that places can’t receive 5 starts unless they are fully vegan. Hugo’s has a fully vegan menu with every vegan substitution available. The California burrito is great and the tortas are very large.

A whole page of the menu dedicated to vegan/vegetarian options. They have vegan horchata; not listed on the menu but it's available. The vegan fish tacos were excellent. The birra taco was okay but the shiitake tacos was bland and rubbery. Very friendly staff and the food came out quickly

Hugo’s is your typical heavily Americanized Mexican food. To me, it’s nostalgic, but it’s also on the side of bland and ultimately nothing amazing. The menu is huge (per usual for these kinds of restaurants), but their unique feature is the abundance of vegan options. We ordered carne asada nachos, a trio of veggie enchiladas, a bean and cheese burrito (I added nopalas), and a strawberry margarita. The food itself was good, but nothing extraordinary, and in general, it was missing some flavor. The rice, surprisingly, was the best part of the night and had a bit more flavor than anything else. The produce was fresh. The strawberry margarita was yummy.

I the food is delicious! Very authentic Mexican cuisine in the vegan version. I had sweet potato burrito (it came with the whole west fresh tortilla), tofu enchilada ( it had a tomato sauce made with the fresh tomatoes) and veggie tamale (so good!). Cons - they serve animal products as well and their to go containers are plastic.

Large vegan selection, while the food was good it was lacking a bit. The carne was tasty but overall I felt the California burrito as a whole was a bit bland. The chips were meh, and the salsa tasted like their was tequila in it. My 4yo really enjoyed her carne taco.

I was so excited to come back to San Diego literally just to eat here again! My boyfriend, sister, and I who are all vegan ate here more times than we would like to admit lol! Anyways this place is by far the best vegan Mexican food I have had and I cannot get enough, wish they had one near where I live! Cannot recommend this place enough!!!
