delicious but cold

I got the vegan tempeh lovers meal - delicious and good value at $16. It was basically cold, would be better hotter. Good variety of different tempeh. Staff was friendly and helpful, knew what was vegan including sauces.

Pros: Vegan options clearly labelled, Variety of tempeh in the dish, Delicious flavours

Cons: The utensils aren't really up to the task, Cold meal

Nutrient rich meat substitute

Was looking for somewhere else and came across this place by accident.

I was looking and did not really recognise what it was and the lady explained there was a vegan set meal option, vegetarian set menu with egg, and the meat set meal. All the sauces and condiments are vegan.

You can buy the separate components though I recommend the set meal for the balance of flavours - $16. Good value for money.

Tempeh (Javanese témpé) is a fermented soy product originating in Indonesia.

Well-known as a real and super food due to its simple manufacturing process, the use-benefits of fermentation and using a very few ingredients. It is also popular among vegan and healthy-diet people as a meat substitute with rich-nutrients.

Indo Tempeh House is a family-owned NZ business, originally from Indonesia, dedicated to producing authentic and delicious tempeh.

It is located inside Riverside Market, 96 Oxford Terrace - Ground Floor (Close to Lichfield St. Entry). As it is an indoor food court you can take away or sit at table next to stall.

Pros: Most of menu is vegan.

Cons: is a food stall in inside food hall: limited menu

Tempeh for tempeh lovers

I had the vegan meal. It was delicious for tempeh lovers like me, and it was very nice to try a variety of tempeh offerings. The only downside is that the one fried in batter was so hard today that trying to cut it broke my wood cutlery. But that was just a tiny portion of my meal.

I tried to stop in here repeatedly when I was in Christchurch about a month ago but they were always closed with no sign with an explanation. I’m so glad I finally got to try them today.

Pros: Lovely tempeh sample platter

Delicious tempeh

It was so good!! The pandang rice was delicious and the lady working there was very sweet and friendly. I don’t even like tempeh that much, but the way they made it was so flavorful. Don’t miss it!!

Great vegan food options

It’s nice to see a couple of different vegan meal options and different tempeh types to eat. The tempeh tastes fresh and flavoursome. All sauces are vegan too. You have to try the sambal oelek if you like some heat your food. It’s different from the Sambal oelek that you can buy in the supermarket. You can almost feel like you are in Java if you close your eyes and eat the food.

Pros: A few vegan options. , Inexpensive , All sauces are vegan

Delicious vegan meal

I think at this stage Ramen Ria and this one are the only stalls listed on Happy Cow, but as we walked around the Riverside Markets I noticed many places with vegan options - burgers, cookies, and more. The markets are like a big indoor pavilion, cool place. So definitely worth checking out!

Got the vegan meal from here was it was so good. A large portion for $14 and very satisfying, with 4 kinds of tempeh, 2 kinds of rice, salad, sambal, and peanut sauce. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: great value, delicious tempeh

Best tempeh ever!

Small place inside food court, offering three or four vegan meals, three or four vegetarian and one or two meat options. I had the vegan tempeh lovers meal. Only $12 and really generous portion. Turmeric rice, pandan and spinach rice, four types of tempeh, salad, curry and something else that I’ve forgotten! Peanut sauce to die for!
Environmentally friendly, served in cardboard container with wooden fork.

Pros: Good selection of vegan meals, Can customise what you have, Cheap

Cons: Doesn’t need meat - vegan options are lovely

Delicious tempeh

Indo Tempeh House are a staple at markets around Christchurch, including the Vegan Night Mākete, ir can be found daily at Riverside Market. They offer a $10 meal deal and sell tempeh in various forms that’s really cheap. The fried tempeh and yellow rice in particular are both incredibly delicious. If you haven’t tried this place yet go find them now!

Pros: Delicious food, Cheap prices, At all the markets

Cons: Also sells meat (except at Vegan Night Mākete)
