Good vegan ramen - Edit
Ramen places have been trendy for several years now. When I'm brought to a ramen place I'm almost always underwhelmed. And not only that but I end up spending a lot of money for noodles with a few veggies thrown in. Iro Izakaya is definitely an exception. It's not cheap, but not too expensive, and the portions are quite sizeable. And the flavor is super nice! The outdoor seating on a warm night is a good place to converse while surrounded by Friedrichshain vibes.

The fried gyozas are awesome, they're crunchy and flavorful. The ramen we ordered was delicious, so was the sake, the Japanese curry was just alright though so I'd recommend another dish. Lots of outdoor seating, and they serve sushi as well. Cash only!

This place had it all. Fully vegan. Great food presented in a beautiful way, friendly service and nice locals. We were very happy with everything and just wish to be able to come back again to explore more of the very interesting menu!

Not so much the Japanese izakaya flair as I hoped, where you can order loads of small snacks while getting smashed, but they had an interesting variety of Japanese and Korean dishes. The mixed starter plate was good but a bit small (great for 2 but not for 3 people), the Japanese curry was super duper delicious and very authentic and I loved the crispy "tonkatsu" a lot. My friend's ramen were nice, too, but I've been to iimori yesterday so I found them to be a bit boring (iimori was a bit cheaper, too). My friend was missing the gobo (burdock) in her ramen. The cocktails sounded very interesting, they were out of ingredients for that shiitake soy sauce cocktail, so I ordered Matcha Alexander which was very strong, creamy and yummy.

A definite 5 stars. We had a great meal here on a Friday night. Our starters and mains were delicious. The portions are generous and didn't leave us room for a desert. The food is beautifully presented, flavourful and authentic. The place was really busy and appears to be a really popular choice. Highly recommended.

As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly.
To start, I decided to have a portion of Edamame, which was perfectly prepared and deliciously seasoned. The soybeans were fresh, crunchy, and a wonderful introduction to my culinary journey at this restaurant.
For my main course, I chose the Ramen soup, which was rich, aromatic, and incredibly flavorful. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the combination of vegetables, mushrooms, and spices created a tasty and well-balanced composition.
As a sushi lover, I couldn't resist trying the Avocado Maki. The rolls were beautifully presented, and the taste was simply stunning.
What impressed me the most was the exceptional friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They were always there to answer questions and make sure my visit at IRO Izakaya Vegan was even more enjoyable.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend IRO Izakaya Vegan. The combination of delicious food, a pleasant atmosphere, and extremely friendly staff makes it a great place for vegan Japanese cuisine.

Wir hatten die Ramen Nr. 12 und 14, beide sehr lecker! Außerdem die dumplings. Das einzige, was uns nicht überzeugt hatte war das Sushi, es war okay aber für den Preis jetzt nicht so special wie erwartet. Hier kann man übrigens nur Bar bezahlen. 😄

I'm not usually one to wax-lyrical about food; it usually just gets the job done. But I had the ramen here and it was amazing. Certainly the most memorable meal I've had in the last 3+ months of travelling!
