Vegan Japanese food in London - Edit
This restaurant combines three of my favourite things: veganism, Japanese food, and London. It's amazing to be able to have vegan karaage and non-alcoholic Asahi beer. I've been there twice and am looking forward to many more visits.

Vera cucina giapponese! - Edit

My favourite - Edit
This has been my favourite restaurant in London since I discovered it more than 10 years ago. Simple, almost understated flavours, perfectly balanced. Filling but easy on the digestion. Perfect in every way.

We’ve been a few times now. The tastes are quite special. Great service in a small exclusive restaurant. You feel like you’ve stepped off a noisy London street into a charming quiet quarter in a small Japanese town.

very yummy traditional japanese food - Edit
It was absolutely a delight to eat at Itadakizen. The lunch set (£15) made us try side dishes and we were not disappointed !! The spring rolls were sooo good (we almost ordered a 2nd round). The broth in the Udon with tempura was AMAZING. The spicy ramen were also something !!

The whole restaurant is vegan and the menu has some amazing dishes. It's tapas style, so you choose lots of smaller dishes. We ordered loads from sushi to curry and tofu to ramen.
Everything was absolutely delicious.
Totally worth the train ride up to London and we can't wait to go back!
Pros: Delicious food, Amazing menu, Authentic Japanese cuisine

Too delicious! - Edit
So good. Deep, spicy and flavourful broth and tasty toppings. The only problem is, now my homemade ramen will never taste so good. Damn you, Itadakizen!

Great range of vegan Japanese food, with quite a few gluten free options. Great lunch deal, £14 for main and side! I ordered the gyoza and tofu udon, both were delicious.

Great food - Edit
Fully vegan place which means you don’t have to worry about what you can’t have, and feast on all the yummy options that you can! Portions aren’t overly filling but means you can try plenty out where a group of us has a ramen each and 5 tapas/ small dish options to share, then might have pushed out to try a second ramen before calling it a day and letting pudding go.. worth going to for sure.

A warm welcome, good service and wonderful Japanese vegetarian food. Easier to find a Japanese veggie restaurant in London than in Japan itself! 🙂

Cosy Japanese Vegan Restaurant - Edit
I was just passing on the other side of the road this lunchtime and happened to notice it, and that it was completely vegan. I then discovered it has a wine list as well. I think they said they have been open 12 years fully vegan, so they are well-established and I hope they won't disappear. I can't imagine they will.
Read moreI was a bit shocked by the prices at first - I've been used to Itsu! But I think for what it is, its service and its ambience, it is more than worth it. It is relaxing, the service is discreet and friendly. They also sell a few jars and packets.
It has a set lunchtime menu, starter and main for £14. But I had all starters - tofu steak, cucumber kimchi, miso soup and white rice, with a bottle of Fentimans sparkling elderflower.
There is an eclectic mix of calm and interesting music. I don't know what is on now but the lyrics are intelligent.
Pros: Nice food, service and decor, Good location on Kings Cross Road near station, Intimate
Cons: None I can think of

Birthday Meal - Edit
Went for my birthday with a number of friends. Tried different ways to contact them about the booking because I had a question. In the end we just had to turn up. Very friendly service. All Japanese staff, at least front of house. Lots of delicious choices. Though the people who had donburi said theirs was a little plain

Not as good as I had hoped - Edit
I have to be honest, I was a little more than underwhelmed by my experience here. On paper an all Vegan Japanese restaurant should be a total winner but the small portions, cheap veg, bland tasting spices, and stingy amount of tofu made this place disappointing, especially since London is full of places to eat. I could mention the price too but I was expecting it to be a lot due to its location. Overall even I could have cooked better than this at home.

Excellent Japanese food - Edit
I have been to Itadakizen various time s over the years and it never disappoints. Delicious, fresh japanese food with great ingredients. The staff are always very friendly and the service quite quick. The only thing I’d say is that the lunch menu can be a bit limiting sometimes but I think the dinner menu is bigger. Also , they don’t seem to have natto (fermented soya beans) , my favourite Japanese dish!

Tasty Japanese Tapas - Edit
I went here on my London trip a few months back. The place was small and only had indoor seating for about 20 people. We shared the white rice (2£), nanbanzuke (6£), vegan kaarage (8£), harumaki (6£), tofu & mushroom croquette (9£) and chapche (10£). Everything tasted great.

Turning Japanese - Edit
Really enjoyed our recent visit to Itadakizen, where we shared the spicy ramen, japanese curry and rice, gyozas and tofu steak from the set lunch menu (£14 pp).
Read moreThe ramen was packed full of flavour and perfectly spiced, whilst the gyozas and tofu steaks were excellent, with each accompanied by a delectable sauce. The curry was also very flavourful and made from more than 10 vegetables and spices, although the texture may divide opinion. Personally, I liked it but my partner wasn't too keen.
We also got a lovely glass of red wine, a smoothie and a sasou tea, with the latter very refreshing indeed. Staff and atmosphere were lovely and I will definitely visit again.
