Disappointment on many levels - Edit
Wow! What a disappointment since Thai is usually a go-to. Be advised there is a 20% surcharge on all orders! Even for crappy service.
Read moreFood was ok. Veggie addition featured very few pieces of brocoli. Spice of one is hot! Which they seemed entertained by after talking you into adding spice.
Printed menu is not inclusive of all options. So you need to use QR code on phone on a crappy navigating menu.
Food was brought out and we had to wait for cutlery (which was dirty) and plates.
I guess we should have gone with our first instinct when we entered and loud rap music was playing. When we asked if they could turn down the music they did and the genre improved.
When we questioned surcharge waitress said it goes directly to staff....don't all tips????
When we pushed back we were met with attitude and someone who missed hospitality 101; customer is always right. It is printed on menu bottom which we saw later but obviously negotiating online menu is not in plain view.
So many other options in area. Best find another place in our opinion.

Delicious food and outdoor seating! - Edit
We really enjoyed our dinner at Kaosamai! There are a few clearly labeled vegan options. We ordered the fried rice and yellow curry and both were very very good! We also loved the plentiful outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade. It was such a nice Spring dinner!

Will definitely be back - Edit
I would give this 5 stars if I could. This spot was so good. It's in a very walkable area too. I accidentally ordered something vegetarian instead of vegan and one of the people in the kitchen came out to tell me and offered different options (I ordered the Mama Noodles which contain egg). That was just so unexpected and kind. The food is genuinely so good too. The heat levels of their dishes are real, be warned. I can handle spicy very well and the 2 was perfect for me.

I’ve lived in Fremont a long time and honestly this place doesn’t let me down - Edit
They go out of their way to ask if you want vegan when ordering non meat options which is really nice to know and less work to have to check for fish sauce and egg etc… my fav is the curry fried rice ask for fried tofu and add veg! Super hearty. I usually order tofu as meat and then add veg for extra price and my meal is just as I want. Best Thai for vegans in this area hands down. Have ordered from here probably 100 times and glad they didn’t close.

Lots of vegan options! - Edit
Kaosamai is my go-to restaurant when I’m too lazy to make dinner. Most dishes can be made vegan, and the staff are really accommodating of that request. Last time I went, our server made sure to ask whether I was okay with egg on my dish - when I said no, she asked if I’d like it to be made vegan, and confirmed it when reviewing the order. It’s really reassuring that I won’t find egg in my food. Kaosamai’s food is consistently delicious: we’ve gotten phad see iew, phad kee mao, phad thai, curries, papaya salad, tom kha, and mango sticky rice (when in season).

Yummy food, with a few clearly marked vegan items, and easy to modify others - Edit
Ordered takeout lunch of fresh rolls with tofu (vegan by default), and phad thai with a “vegan/no egg” note. Food was delicious and I’ll have plenty of leftovers.
