Tasty and fun - Edit
From a cat cafe franchise, which I’ve heard about but never visited before in any German city, I expected an overpriced, overly greasy fast food. I was pleasantly surprised! Besides breakfasts. burgers and sandwiches (which all looked appetising!) there was variety of other foods, such as bowls, goulash or even knedles. We settled for two bowls and they were both very tasty and felt on the healthier side.

I wasn’t too focused on hanging out with cats, as I know from other cat cafe-like places it’s often hard to “connect” with them, especially on a busy day and one shouldn’t bother them too much. I still enjoyed the view of few kitties while eating and felt some funny sense of unity with other clients. Everyone was there because cats are cool.

Great Variety and Taste - Edit
I recently stayed in Freiburg for business and ordered three items from Katzentempel for delivery. I had the Banh Miau Sandwich, the Happy Piggy Burger and the Tempelsandwich. All three were very good. Quantity was OK. This place seemed to be one of the only all-vegan restaurants in the area, so it is a good choice for delivery if you are in Freiburg and limited with time and mobility.

Reasonably priced and very tasty, this is a real find in Freiburg. The coffee is good as well so if you need a sit down and restorative pick me up, plus cats, I'd recommend the Cat Temple!

Read moreI had the Tiger Bowl (16€) which was a large, colourful bowl containing all manner of interesting and tasty things, including mango. Service was quick but my friend went inside to order and to pay, as we were the only people sitting outside and the server had not seen us.
I also had an extremely refreshing homemade lemonade with mint (5.50€).
This is definitely a flavoursome, relatively healthy option, in a great central location. On a warm Friday early evening at the end of August there was plenty of room and no need to reserve.

We went here for lunch. It was hard to choose from the menu, simply because there were so many good options. We ended up ordering a sandwich and bowl. The food came realy quick. It looked and tasted very good. The portion was on the big side, which was a big advantage for us hungry travelers. We were so full, that there was no room for dessert (unfortunately, because I was hoping to taste the tiramisu and snickers dessert). The staff was nice (they even came to me to check if I was oke, since I was feeling a bit dizzy).

The food was delicious and not too expensive. The service was quick as well. We did not see the cats until we left. Overall as a vegan restaurant I can only recommend it. I loved the decor with the cat highways.

Good meal, seems like a good place for deserts/lunch, and that's probably what I would recommend the place mostly for. Appreciate the work to make the meals sustainable. A little on the pricey side for taste but hopefully that's going the right places. Cute cats, the atmosphere was a little too 'fast food chain' but then again it's a lot of burgers and fries.

Good food in a beautiful city, with friendly staff. I see reports here of it being expensive (I don't think it's too expensive), but if that goes into the care of the rescue cats, I'll happily pay my part. Had a lovely burger with great fries and great lemonade. Definitely recommended when in Freiburg.

C'est notre deuxième repas au Katzentempel, salle très calme, peu de monde, donc en plus d'avoir très bien mangé, nous étions tranquilles. De délicieux burgers et un Chili avec des frites tout autant délicieux. Banilla dream en dessert, banana bread avec coulis de chocolat et chantilly. Le tout 100 % vegan. On adore le concept avec les chats.

Super friendly staff. I ordered a hot chocolate and cake. Everything was delicious, the service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. The cats have a room where no guests go and they use it. I didn't have the feeling that the animals were stressed by the guests. I will definitely go there more often

die katzen, die durch den raum tigern, sind einfach ein highlight beim essen. es scheint ihnen hier gut zu gehen, sie können sich zurückziehen, halten sich auch gern zurück, also nicht zu viel erwarten. das essen ist lecker, für den preis, auch wenn die kosten natürlich total verständlich sind, manchmal jedoch nicht so sättigend. ein besuch lohnt sich dennoch absolut!

My second Katzentempel (tried the one in Hamburg, too. The Freiburg branch is smaller, with fewer cats). It seems to me the dishes on the menu in this chain vary a bit in quality. Some are really good, others a bit less so but still decent.

This place has absolutely delicious, divine fries, especially the " chili sin carne fritten". the cats are cute, they are not around every time but i feel like you can't expect that because they can get overwhelmed and need to retreat sometimes.
Read moreHOWEVER I've tried so many drinks at this cafe and they were all so watered down, flawourless and overly expensive as well. Really wouldn't recommend the house made lemonades or the matcha latte. The only drink i found somewhat enjoyable was the elder limo and the not house made limos ofc.

I loved this cafe. If you’re there for the cats you will be disappointed. The menu shows 5 cats but we only saw 2. My husband and grandson played with one using a toy provided but the cat did not want to be pet. The other cat was not playful and also only wanted to be admired from a distance. We got there shortly after they opened and once more people arrived those 2 cats also disappeared leaving not a cat in sight.
Read moreThe food was delicious. My daughter got the croissant breakfast and loved it. I got the Burger Del Gatto which was so delicious. And my husband who is not vegan, got the happy piggy burger which he said was good. We shared some fries. Excellent. We also all shared some desserts—don’t call it snickers and the apple pie. Both were delicious. The non-vegan loved the apple pie, too.
Over all a delicious and fun experience. Would have liked more cat action but you have to respect the cats and their boundaries.

Honestly, we were seated upstairs and haven’t seen any cat. We only saw one downstairs before leaving. Not a big deal for us because we more here to enjoy a snack and drink, but I guess some people might be disappointed !
