Food was good, mocktail disappointing - Edit
Booked a table for our last night in Auckland. It’s a lovely restaurant inside. I wasn’t sure what to order but I ordered the watermelon vanilla mocktail which although tasted fine was like a soft drink poured into a wine glass. We shared the moneybags for our entree.
Read moreI ordered the drunken duck noodles. The “duck” was delicious and it was a good sized main meal. Not gluggy either. My partner ordered the green curry which didn’t come until I’d well and truly started my drunken noodles. They might have thought we were sharing. The roti that my partner ordered with the green curry was a lot smaller than we were expecting but he said it was the nicest green curry he’d eaten.
The staff were nice and the restaurant was nice.

I love this is available in Ponsonby amid all the other meat options. We had the chicken bites and pork stir-fry takeout. It was lovely but a little pricier than I thought it was going to be.

Food that just makes you feel better - Edit
We stepped in after tromping through the rain and we were greeted by the most friendly staff. We got the couples sharing entree with fried daikon radish as a starter, amazing curry and wonderful rice. We got the PB&J ice cream to finish. We were asked so many times if anything could be better and it simply couldn't! We got everything spicy and the flavors were amazing, it had the right amount of kick without being overpowering. The dishes showcased how delicious vegan food can be without trying to make it like meat.

We loved visiting this place. The food was good, attentive staff and super busy - which is always a good sign!

Great at asking for spice levels and brought additional chilli to add.
We found that the ingredients for the drinks didn’t match the quality of the food.
The papaya salad was too sweet without the fresh herbs and chunks of chilli to help balance it.

Tastes delicious but really not a fan of the new plating. They’re trying to make it fancy which is fine but it truly feels like it’s taking away from the dish, and that the portions are smaller but for the same price.

Despite intending to go here, I've only ever been once briefly and tried some starters. At the time, I thought they were OK, but coming back for Valentine's Day I was really impressed.

The only thing I wasn't that impressed with was the novelty desert, but I'll let the slide.

Khukhu offers fantastic hospitality, the owner himself as well as his service staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Next to their great food they make sure that you have everything that you need. Their menu offers a lot of meals with meat alternative such as vegan duck or even pork belly.

I think they’re very overpriced which is a shame as it’s great to have an all vegan place in the area. The food is decent but the high price sets very high expectations that they don’t meet. I hope they work on the food though!
