Let them eat vegan

So far, this is our favorite place for food in New Zealand. We had two burritos that tasted really good and then some donuts. You can get really great food here for little money.

Awesome Place!!!

My partner and I went there today and got two burritos (breakfast burrito and mac n cheese burrito) which were fantastic, tasty and generous portions! We also got choc chip biscoff cookies were so delightful we had to get some more for the road ( a coffee cream donut YUM)!

Recommend 100% if you are in Dunedin!

Legendary Dunedin vegan food

Excellent tiny vegan outlet in the middle of Dunedin. Great choice every day, always hot food (burritos) and baguettes plus various pies and excellent doughnuts. Wide range of fake meats and cheeses too. Tofu banh mi baguette especially good.

Pros: Great choice of savoury and sweet items, Friendly staff

Cons: Dunedin weather not always great for sitting out!

Very small, worth it!

Great offerings and staff. Small space with only outdoor seating, so account for that when visiting, but highly recommend taking a takeaway to a park or one of many other picturesque spots nearby.

Deserving of it's top restaurant title!

It was closed when we passed through Dunedin so we went back again the next day to try it out. SO worth it! Staff are awesome, menu changes each day... Generously filled burritos, baguettes and subs. Free coffee if you spend over $10 (bring your own keep cup), delicious donuts and a fridge full of delicious sounding cheeses and deli meats. Can't wait to try our selection. Highly recommend!

Pros: Everything! , Fantastic staff , A bargain for the quality and portion size

Cons: Nothing at all!

Absolute best little place

I found the best donuts I've ever eaten and - cheese! It's very difficult to find a good DF cheese! I will definitely be coming back time and again

Pros: Absolutely best donuts ever, So many food options, Cheese!

Cons: More of a takeaway than a dine in

Adorable, earth conscious, tasty

I got two jalapeño toasties and a selection of cream filled doughnuts to share - custard, crème caramel, and coffee cream. Gorgeous texture on the doughnuts and the creams were good too. The coffee one was a perfect 10/10, the caramel was nice, 7/10, but the vanilla taste in the custard on was very synthetic, 3/10. The person working gave me a little sample of the cheddar cheese spread which was delicious, but I think it was too liquidy for the toasty and ended up being more like a sauce than a cheese. Maybe the block cheese would work better. If I lived in the area I would pick up a few cheeses, spreads, and fake meats to try at home. My favorite thing about this place is their to-go containers: repurposed alternative milk boxes! They can’t be recycled here in NZ, so might as well make them useful again. Super cool.

Yum

Cute little spot, my only complaint is that I wish they were bigger. There is a bit of seating outside that is nice, but everything is great for takeaway as well. The fried Camembert balls were so yummy, the burritos and sandwiches change daily, but they use their house made cheeses and meats that are also available to buy! Super yum. I wish there was one of these in every city

Good food, wish there was more variety

I wish the menu was a bit more extensive. I was hoping to have dinner here but they seemed to only have junk food. I just got a cupcake to go. That being said, the cupcake was very very good. The frosting wasn't too sweet, the flavors were very well balanced. And they gave it to me in a reused soy milk container which I've never seen before and very much appreciate. 'reuse' comes before 'recycle' after all

Belter burrito

Sought this place out based on good reviews and they weren't wrong! Had delicious mac and cheese 'burritos', I didn't have a doughnut as I was saving myself for vegan gelato elsewhere but they looked tasty! The staff member that served us was very kind, the location is cool and hidden away and the outside seating was grand for a sunny day (be aware there's no inside seating!). Definitely worth a visit if you are in Dunedin.

Pros: Big portions, Fun menu , Nice staff

Small but Loved it!

The food was really good, filling and satisfying. We loved the "cheese balls" and the "baguette sandwich" (can't remember the name though...)
Loved the fact that you can have coffee with soy milk if you spend 10$ there.
We tried also the donuts and it was yummy!

Too bad they don't have seats inside but if you're lucky you can seat outside under the sun!

Pros: Affordable , Free coffee

Cons: Not may spaces

Really nice place

The place is really small (only outside) but really nice on a sunny day ! The 'cheese' was sooo good (mac n cheese wrap), but I was less keen on the fake chicken. A free filter coffee when you pay more than 10$, which is really nice !
Prices are on the average for NZ, maybe the wraps were little bit small ?
I didn't try their deserts but they looked really good.

Pros: Cheese, Free coffee !, Outdoor tables

Cons: Fake meat

A bit above average

They make nice fake meats, but not as good as what you get in Europe. Some flavours are too strong (the fennel seed), but otherwise the texture is pretty good.

Pros: Faux meats, Fair pricing

Cons: Looks a little run down

Great food and groceries

They have a very limited offer every day, two or three items, but it changes daily and portions are big. You also get a free coffee with a purchase of minimum 10 dollars.
I had their mac'n'cheese burrito and salami and cheddar baguette, both were fabulous, inexpensive and big portions (specially the baguette). I also tried their sweets, cupcake was fine, chocolate and strawberry cake a bit disappointing. They sell their own deli brand, which is top rated!

Pros: Central location , Inexpensive , Great food

Cons: Limited offer, Not much seating (and only outdoor), Not open every day

Not my cup of tea

I’m gonna have to go against everyone else here… but my Kiwi husband gives it a 5/5 “because you know what it is”.

IMO toast roll was the best thing we tried, but I would’ve preferred an actual tostie because I love them. Cheese was good, but the squirts of butter on top wasn’t.

We also had the breakfast burrito, which again was good, but tasted too much like fast food for my liking. Husband quote “it taste like they’ve bought all the ingredients pre made, put them in a burrito and heated them together”. Sure, yummy combinations, but it was a bit too processed for me.

Cake… this was by far what let me down. The banana cake did not taste of banana, again, Kiwi husband says it’s 100% the same as his school cake sales or something. But the frosting was not properly made, you could taste the sugar crystals in it. It tasted funky, and not like chocolate at all. The lady at the farmers market however, her “simple” cake was amazing!

We also had to wait about 15 minutes to be served, since the man seemed to prepare for the lunch rush before serving us and one other customer - who was waiting so patiently, but in the end got really confused but couldn’t say anything because he’d already said he was happy waiting. And we were both there at opening. So a bit random…

We won’t be going back, but if you like this kind of NZ/junk food it’s great!
