Mixed experience - Edit
Quirky venue and interior, an independent restaurant that seemed popular.
Read moreThey have quite a decent number of vegan options.
Some dishes were very good (tofu in broth; delicate miso flavour with a hint of sweetness). The katsu curry was a crime against pallettes. Bland flavour, gloopy texture. There are supermarket sachet sauces that exceed this.
Staff are friendly and attentive.

Delicious food, shame about the live animals - Edit
A friend recommended I come here because of its good vegan options and I was not disappointed. I had a tofu steak box and it was very tasty and I left in a very worthy food coma. Unfortunately they did keep coy fish in a very small fish pond in the middle of the restaurant for decoration purposes, this made me very uncomfortable.

Excellent! - Edit
Visited from Scarborough and had this place pinned down for a meal, absolutely beautiful atmosphere and felt very authentic. The bento box was absolutely delicious and the experience was relaxing. The staff were attentive and friendly. Vegan duck with mango sauce was tasty, rice was the best I've had, tempura vegetables were cooked great. I have no complaints whatsoever

Mixed Experience - Edit
Very welcoming restaurant, with an excellent selection of vegan options and beautiful decor.
Read moreThe 3 of us shared the vegetarian starter platter, a vegetable yaki soba and Japanese style curry, but our experience was mixed.
The sharing platter was excellent, particularly the skewers, sushi buttons and the teriyaki dipping sauce. We also loved the homemade raspberry lemonade and lychee juices.
The yaki soba and curry were cooked well, but just lacked depth of flavour. In total we spent just over £70.

Great vegan menu - Edit
Lovely little independent restaurant. The vegan menu is extensive, about one third of the whole menu. I opted for the tofu steak bento box which was delicious and really filling. I was intrigued to try the coffee jelly served with vegan whipped cream but I was so full I couldn't fit it in but I'll definitely try it next time. #Veganuary

A must have! - Edit
Staff were amazing! We arrived just before the kitchen was due to close (so annoying I know) food came out fast and was absolutely delicious! If I lived in Leeds I would eat here every week.

"Chicken legs" are lush - Edit
Clearly labelled vegan menu with plenty of options.
Read moreLove the bento boxes and noodle stir fries here, plus all the sides like chicken legs, chicken skewers and tofu steak. You don't have to miss out on vegan protein here! Haven't been in a while but always found the service very polite and the interior very charming. (Beautiful relaxing fish pond and the koi look very well cared for.)
Honestly was a little underwhelmed by their ramen and my friend who had it agreed it wasn't their best dish. Shame but plenty of other items to choose from!
Definitely recommend here or Bento on the other side of town for authentic Japanese food.

Amazing food and atmosphere - Edit
Super impressed with Little Tokyo!! Had such a wide range of different options, which are clearly labelled on the menu.
Read moreWe had the vegan mixed starter which was incredible, the skewer tofu was to die for🤤
We also had some gyozas which weren't as good as they looked, the skin was less dumpling like and more boa bun.
We also had some tofu noodles which were 10/10, the fried tofu in it was incredible!!!
Definitely will go again
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Good portions, Tasty food

Been a Regular For Years - Edit
Little Tokyo has always been relatively consistent with its quality of food, especially the vegan options, the only thing that I find it lacking in is their management and service at times.
Read moreEven when it isn't busy, you can find yourself trying to get service while the staff just kind of awkwardly ignore you sometimes and that can be a bit frustrating.
I have ordered from them a few times and I feel like the food greatly suffers from it and they've gotten my order wrong on multiple occasions, so it's best to eat in if you can.
The food has always been nice though, especially the sushi and curries. I feel like the miso that they use in the ramen has dropped in quality over the years, but that could just be me nitpicking.
All in all, I like the place and go there quite a lot.
Pros: Good Vegan Options, Fair Pricing
Cons: Service Can Be Poor, Bad Experience With Delivery

Appauling customer service and service. - Edit
We visited today at around 12.30 hrs.
Read moreWe didn't have a table booked, but it wasn't full.
The server/waitress, a thin girl, found us a table and we sat at the table. We found what we wanted to order and we were just about to order, when suddenly the server/waitress came over and initially just stood there for a few seconds, looking at us and then said "I am going to have to move you to another table!" No reason why or any apology, she just asked us to move. Bearing in mind, she said another table.
She then said it will be the bar area you will have to sit at. The bar area was a thin wooden type plank/wood surface and the chairs were stools. The bar area was right next to the entrance/exit to the food preparation area and staff were in and out all the time, right next to where we were sat. What made it worse was the fact that it was also right next to the entrance/exit to the toilets and lots of people going in and out!
Why give us a table and then say you are moving us to another table, then move us to the bar/servery/food preparation area?
I can see why this place has not achieved a five star food hygiene rating. The steel fly net at the back kitchen door was tied back at both sides and the back door to the rear of the property was wide open, not very good hygiene practice. This should be down to stop flies/insects entering the kitchen.
This was an all round bad experience and spoilt our visit to Leeds. Poor customer service and poor service!
If I could have given zero stars, I would have done so.
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Maybe make a reservation next time ☺️ Also why did you make the effort the comment on the body type of the server? Bit weird Dave.

Very cute little restaurant made up to resemble somewhere in Japan. Things weren't labelled vegan on the menu but it was easy to work out and ask for help if needed.
