Lovely veggie Italian experience! - Edit
Veggie menu with several vegan options. Had an antipasti dish and shared a few primi dishes. All were delicious and were great vegan alternatives to classic Italian dishes. It is a more upscale place so dishes were on the smaller side with a fairly expensive bill.

Some vegan options - Edit
Some vegan options but mostly vegetarian. Gluten free too.
Read moreI don’t think I ordered very well. The dish seemed quite confused and wasn’t sure what it was trying to be. It was some sort of patty, with potatoes, guacamole and mayo. The menu is different on the website so maybe this dish has been added recently. The individual bits all tasted fine it just didn’t really come together as a dish.
My partner had the ‘meat’balls which came without a carb and seemed incomplete.
(I’m potentially missing the point if it’s supposed to be a fusion restaurant but it didn’t quite work for us).
Pros: Lovely restaurant setting
Cons: Could have had more vegan options, Fusion food didn’t quite come together

Tasty & cosy but didn’t hit expectations - Edit
Enjoyed the atmosphere here a lot, it was a super cosy place with nice decor. The menu was a good size that you’re not overwhelmed with options. We had a bottle of wine, an antipasti to share and then two meals. The food was lovely, but I did have higher expectations after the reviews on here! Also the portion sizes were seemingly small for the cost, but maybe they seemed smaller because of the beautiful huge bowls. All the starters and mains were vegan, but also have of the dolce were vegan, which was a shame. Also the vegan wines were labelled which was a great touch.

Reasonable vegan option in Florence - Edit
This is a nice restaurant that serves a modest range of vegan food. We ate a salad for starter, followed by an aubergine-based main course. Both tasted great and the food was super fresh. Nothing too complex, but it was an enjoyable meal.
Read moreThe reviews elsewhere on this page are mixed, so I’ll provide some context. If you are expecting a large meal then the portions will seem small. I found it to be appropriate but it is on the smaller end.
It is also worth bearing in mind that Italy is clearly behind when it comes to vegan food. For context, this would be a 3 star restaurant in a city like London, Berlin, Vienna - but I’d say it’s a 4 star restaurant for Florence. So I would happily recommend L’OV if you’re in Florence and want a reasonable vegan meal.
Pros: Fresh food, Nice ambience

Quality decline - Edit
L’OV used to be my favorite place to celebrate special events over the years, but the quality and service have sharply declined. The vegan charcuterie board we had was over priced and offered vegan cold cuts I had bought in the grocery store on sale that same day. The vegan cheeses were also store bought and a bit chalky. My main course was grilled eggplant with unseasoned canned chickpeas, cold tomato sauce and vegan aioli — discordant, difficult to eat. The vegan creme brûlé was anemic and had a piece of masking tape on the side of the dish indicating the date prior. The waiters were kind, but clearly stretched thin by management, resulting in long wait times. There are so many better places to get a vegan meal in Florence with creative food made by people who care about the ingredients and the sustainability of the product.

Risotto was savory and unique - Edit
Loved the blackberry risotto, very interesting and unique. They did have some issues with labeling on their menu which they should get fixed though. Staff was friendly and helped figure out the menu mistakes.

Good for Florence - Edit
The vegan food we had was tasty and well presented. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food is not something to shout about but it is refreshing to find clearly labelled vegan food in Florence.

Also ok, aber wirklich nichts Besonderes.

The 5-star reviews make little sense - Edit
Very confused by all the 5 star reviews. I’m unsure if it’s standards have slipped in recent times or if the breadth of choice is what makes it attractive. There were few vegan options despite the number of vegetarian ones and the blanket gluten-free decision does feel detrimental across the board, especially for its Italian options. The gluten free options don’t feel well-thought out and seem to just be there. Given the 4.5 stars average across 120 reviewers, I was expecting far better and there are a number of better options available that are far better priced.

A great local recommendation - Edit
We were recommended this restaurant by our villa hosts and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Great service, lovely clean and inviting environment and of course excellent food! Great options for both vegetarian and vegans. We visited with omni family members who raved about the experience as much as we did

Disappointing - Edit
Less than half of the choices are vegan (versus vegetarian). For instance, they listed a vegan cheeseburger, but when it came it had neither cheese nor bun. Everything was just okay. The vegan tartar was super bland guacamole with nothing to eat it with. Very confused about the good reviews this place has from vegans.

Deludente - Edit

Best vegan meal in Florence - Edit
Very creative, unusual flavor and texture combinations. Lots of Italian dishes you won’t find on menus in other vegan restaurants, like spinach gnudi or fresh asparagus pate with orange sauce. Amazing pannacotta with fruits of the forest!

Unbelievably good! - Edit
Look no further for mind blowing and unique Italian vegan food! The cheese plate is far and away the greatest vegan cheese I’ve ever tried, and is worth every euro. We also ordered the ribollita to try a local classic, which was also quite nice. I believe their menu changes seasonally, so we had the gnocchetti with blue cheese sauce and radicchio and the gnudi with chicory and sundried tomatoes. Both were thoroughly enjoyed and nice, the portions are a little small but they are primis and it left us with room for dessert, which is the best part of the meal. We tried their Colombina (seasonal offering for Easter) and their chocolate cheesecake, which our whole party (four vegans and one vegetarian) agreed were the best vegan desserts we’d ever had, especially the cheesecake. The menu did note that the offerings are 100% plant based, but I’m not sure if that’s just the current menu or if it’s permanent. It is a little pricy, but not crazy compared to slightly upscale omnivore restaurants. I would recommend this spot 100 times over, and will be dreaming of returning.

Delicious food and great atmosphere - Edit
We had a great 4-course vegan dinner. We started off with a selection of vegan cheeses, followed by pasta with a ragu made of seaweed and lemon, the main course was a vegan pulled “pork” sandwich with potatoes and as a desert we ate chocolate cake. All the courses were delicious. The atmosphere was really good the restaurant looks cozy and the staff is friendly. Would absolutely recommend.

Da provare - Edit
Il tagliere di formaggi vegani era delizioso. Altrettanto non si può dire dei primi che abbiamo provato, il risotto era salatissimo. Torta veg al cioccolato e arancia buona ma niente di eccezionale.

Nice food but small expensive portions - Edit
Food was good, but in spite of spending nearly €30 I left as hungry as when I came. I asked about the wine, apparently non of them are vegan. Also all the food cane out separately, some of the table were finished before others got food.

Nice, but a bit expensive - Edit
The food was really nice, but a bit expensive for the portion size. The staff was very friendly. In principle, I liked the decorations inside, but the messaging seemed a bit out of place because there was also vegetarian food, which is still bad for the animals.

L'OV were truly astounding. They seemed to have a second sense for when you were ready to move from piatti primi to desserts, caffé, and digestif. The food was delicious from start to finish and we would recommend them to vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters alike.
