2 1/2 ⭐️ No charge for plant milk! 😉

Matto is a chain of coffee places; they have around 30 branches scattered around the NYC area. They have definitely improved in recent years: (1) They offer around 3-4 vegan sweets; (2) they have no surcharge plant milk for coffee🥛☕️ ! , and (3) the prices are great, especially if you order through the (free) Matto app on your phone 📲.

On the downside, (1) their stores have little or no seating; (2) there are no savory vegan items; and (3) the pastries are good, but not great--then again, considering the price, that is understandable.

Though Matto is certainly not a relaxing cafe where one goes to hang out with friends or for gourmet food, I often go here for a quick bite/coffee, knowing that they will have some vegan food. My sense is that most of their shops deserve between 2 or 3 stars. One negative for this particular branch is that for the past year or more, it is covered with building construction 👷🏼‍♂️🚧. When the construction is done with, there will be a pleasant courtyard in front of this Matto shop--and when that happens, I'll try to remember to raise my rating.

Quaint Italian Cafe with both vegan foods and drinks

There are a decent amount of vegan options. I had a hot chocolate with oat milk and an Oatmeal Superfood which both tasted good.

Pros: No plant milk surcharge , Friendly staff, Inexpensive

Cons: No vegan cheese
