Amazing flavors and presentation - Edit
We have been going to Millennium since they were located in San Francisco. For us, this is primarily a special occasion restaurant because the inventive dishes are truly worthy of birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations. The flavors are incredible and memorable. We cannot do this at home. We look forward to the appetizers the most, and always share a dessert as well. Like everything here, the entrees shift with the seasons and take inspiration from many cultures. They almost always offer a uniquely prepared tempeh dish, a curry type dish, and a vegan burger, among other mains.

Fancy and pricey vegan food - Edit
Gave Millennium another chance and it is still pricey! But it is delicious!
Read moreWe came back on a Thursday night to avoid the mandatory prix fixe. Much more affordable Tuesday-Thursday. I still maintain do not come on a day like New Years Eve or Valentines Day and really think about if a Friday or Saturday works.
2022 review
Used to be one of our favs but now is just expensive. Do not come on any special occasion- price will be approx $125 per person plus service charges and fees! Keep an eye out for prix fixe menu on Fridays/Saturdays too is good but pricey!

stellar innovative vegan cuisine - Edit
I last reviewed Millennium way back in 2016. Fast forward nearly a decade later. My uncle and I have birthdays a few days apart separated by several generations. We each learn from each other.
Read moreHe is a vegetarian longer than I am alive. I am a longtime vegan. Birthdays only happen once every 365 days or 366 days on a leap year so we decided to come to Millennium to mark the occasion.
It was Friday January 31, 2025. We each decided to splurge on the tasting menu. Four courses on the menu.
We started with splitting the first course. Homemade focaccia with dips and olives. For the second course I went with the Scallion Griddle Cake. This was my pick half a dozen appetizers to choose from. For the main I went with the Red Wine and Miso Glazed Lions Mane Mushroom with Creole inspired Fresno Chili Hot Sauce and Toasted Pecans. There were seven mains to choose from.
To finish it off the fourth course was one of three desserts. I went with the Cherry Hazelnut Brownie.
All in all solid meal. Great flavors and presentation. Friendly service especially from the front of the house. Ambiance was just fine. I especially loved that it was fully booked and so many folks were enjoying vegan cuisine.
My uncle did enjoy his meal paired with a glass of wine. I think he gave it three stars yet he is a tough critic. He did appreciate the service and we did mix it up since the bill was over $100 each.
We don't normally more than a Franklin note a dinner yet again special occasion. Bummed we both missed Chef Eric Tucker who has been at it for many decades now. I once met Chef Eric Tucker way back in 2002 during my first trip to San Francisco when Millennium was in the Tenderloin in San Francisco getting to speak to him then for a hot minute.
Chef Eric Tucker, Sous Chef Tyler Jaye, and Pastry Chef Lilly Quintana work with the fabulous staff here to continue to dish up amazing fine dining vegan cuisine. Check them out!

Delicious four course meal with unique flavor combinations. Good atmosphere and fun cocktails. Our favorites were the rice cakes and tandoori tofu on the night we went. Both desserts were amazing.

Above and beyond delicious! - Edit
How do they pack so much flavor into each bite? This place is amazing - I visited twenty years ago when they were in San Fran and I was so glad to find that they are still so wonderful. We went to a special winter feast thing and everything was delicious - especially the soup and salad.

Best Vegan Restaurant in the Bay area - Edit
We had dinner here on November 20, 2024. As usual everything was delicious. We started with the crusted oyster mushrooms and little gem salad. Then we had the Korean Barbecue Glazed Tempeh and the Cornmeal Crusted Maitake Mushroom for entrees. For dessert we shared the Mexican Chocolate Torte.

I really believe that this is the best vegan fine dining restaurant in the entire Bay area. Everything is creative and delicious without the use of fake meat or egg products.

The food is delicious, and the fine dining experience and service is great! I enjoyed the Coriander & Arborio Crusted Oyster Mushrooms and the Sweet Potato Masa Dumplings. So grateful to have found this gem and will return whenever I’m in the area.

Great - Edit
First time:
Read more* pre fixe 4 course meal - amazing
* crusted oyster mushrooms - great
* burger - amazing
* sope - excellent
* tempeh - by far best tempeh ever had, probably the best item, so many incredible things on the plate
* cheesecake - very good
* citrus cake - excellent
Second time:
Equally as good
Only qualm was the added 5% 'rising costs /sustainable wages / food releif' on top of the bill, which wasn't explained. It wasn't clear if that should go towards the service tip. I absolutely love it when places include all employee living wages into the cost of the meal and that it's made clear tips are no longer necessary, but when it's an unclear halfway measure like this, it makes people feel like they are being taken advantage of, on top of the already high prices of the food.

Great food, Odd approach - Edit
Its the bay area, so people just seem to go along with it - but requiring a vaccine passport to eat inside just feels dystopian. They were nice here and the food was good though. We made reservations and only found out when we got there that they were only doing a set 4 course menu for $60 (because of omicron they said????) and my girlfriend could only eat 2 of the courses because she has food intolerances and cannot eat almonds, gluten, cashews, etc. The dessert was the best ice cream i have ever had. The burger was good but a litte mushy. The portions were ok. The atmosphere was nice for a date.

What can be said about Millenium that hasn't already been said?
Read moreA magnificent and innovative vegan restaurant that has been around for 30 years now. It's about the closest thing the Bay Area has to a farm to table vegan restaurant and wow does it show when you take a bite into every dish. Friday's and Saturday's are prie fix menus days, which I've had before and loved but came on a Wednesday to try the a la carte menu.
The heirloom salad and tamale were absolutely wonderful along with the milk chocolate tart. My wish to eat that again during my visit is high but they're constantly switching up the menu to reflect vegetables and fruits that are currently in season (a big positive).
Don't be seduced by the $$$ pricepoint either because it's likely you'd pay the same amount of money eating here than another subpar restaurant.

Gluten Free & Great Service - Edit
Our awesome experience started with a phone call from Imani. She was following up about a request I made on Open Table for a quiet spot because I’m highly sensitive. She was so understanding and kind. When we arrived, we had a great place on the patio. The food met all expectations and the N/A cocktails were sophisticated. There were lots of gluten free options with a GF vanilla cheesecake to die for. The service was impeccable. The restaurant is located in a great neighborhood and we walked off the wonderful dinner we had.

Superb Upscale Fixed Price Dinner - Edit
We have been to Millennium several times and have never been disappointed. Their 4 course fixed price meals on Friday and Saturday are incredible. You have a large selection of each course. At $70 per head this is expensive but it is well worth it! It is important to make reservations. They also have a pizza night on Mondays and we celebrated a going away party their for the Rancho Compasion Sanctuary manager that was wonderful!

Tiramasu. Hadn't had a Tiramasu in a long time. Sweet, but not overly. Spongy, moist with the right compliment of mascarpone mousse.

Exquisite vegan fine dining! - Edit
First of all the service is so delightful. The ambiance was just gorgeous! Now let’s get into the food.
Read moreEvery flavor paired so well with one another. From citrus to spicy to sweet all in one bite. We started out with the corn ribblets and my goodness the cheesy tasting topping was delicious and the butter flavoring was impeccable. We were scraping the bottom of the plate. We had a delicious rosé paring from Santa Cruz.
The main course we shared the Aloo Tiki and wow it was great! The potato was crisp on the outside and the perfect amount of soft on the inside. And the broccoli it came with was cooked to perfection. There was a balsamic tasting glaze on it that was tasty! Now for the dessert…. The pear tart was an enlightening. Especially with the chocolatey coco crumble and the ice cream which was so creamy!

Cons: Very Expensive

Innovative, Delicious, Destination Vegan - Edit
It's no secret - this is the best place to go for a vegan meal. A date, a special occasion, a prix fixe special - and also, the Monday night Above Ground Pizza pop-up. Chef Eric & co-owner Alison have the best, freshest, locally sourced ingredients and the seasonal menu is amazing. The desserts are indisputably the best vegan desserts anywhere. They have an excellent outdoor dining area - covered in the winter and watertight. Friendly staff - excellent mixed drinks that evolve with the seasons.

I love this place and have been enjoying it for many years going back to the original location in SF. It's definitely my go to spot for special occasions, holidays, birthdays, date nights, and well any time. The menu is seasonal and Chef Eric and his team consistently create some of the finest dishes in all of California and quite possibly worldwide. Alison and her team are amazing and always make me feel special. This place has a permanent very special place in my heart and I always look forward to dining here. The ambiance is beautiful as well. I cannot say enough about Millennium it's hands down the absolute best restaurant in all of Northern California. Go there and see for yourself!
