Baked goods - Edit
The menu looked really interesting but I only had time to pick up a few of the baked goods. I got the pumpkin bite, a chocolate chip cookie, and a concha. I really enjoyed the first two. The pumpkin bite was lightly sweetened and the cookie had a good texture. I wasn’t a fan of the concha but I think that was just a taste preference.

Fantastic! - Edit
Lucky me! I was a little bit hungry for vegan food and saw Mr. Natural as I was driving by the restaurant. I almost missed it! I talked to the owners and learned about the lunch menu, buffet, and pastries. They gave me a sample from the salad bar and my taste buds were awakened to the fresh, natural, flavors. So they have both comfort food and fresh (healthier) items. Their fruit drinks are also awesome! I’m planning on making this a regular stop for weekday lunches.

Cons: Almost missed it-sign, Only one location , Limited parking

Heavenly - Edit
One of my favorite Austin restaurants. Everything you order will make you smile. I particularly favor their breakfasts, but the sandwiches are also good. The Vegan Tofu Migas Plate and the Vegan Crispy Taco... *chef's kiss*!

Delicious vegan food with great selection of baked goods - Edit
Loved the vegan garden veggie sandwich and the chips and queso. Loved the scenery and the relaxed pace of this place, reminding me of the “old Austin” ambience. Only thing that kept me from getting many many more things was the price.

I judge a place by their vegan breakfast burrito, and this one, the "Mother Of All Breakfast Burritos" lives up to its name! Huge menu and tons of vegan baked goods that looked delicious (but I had no room to try them).

Careful you go broke! - Edit
Went on my 2nd to last day in Austin for a week and a bit regretful not making this my first stop because there are soooo many goodies in here. On the bright side though I was able to discipline myself knowing I had no space in my carryon so just got a few things for lunch and breakfast. Taste wise I think they might also try to not use too much salt which is another plus.

Old school Austin, yummy vegan eats - Edit
One of my favorite places to eat out with a family. It’s a family run place, not fancy, and has super welcoming staff. I love their vegan migas (add the avocado and split the giant serving with a friend so you have room for vegan treats from the bakery case!). FYI the cafe is in one building and the natural food store is in the bigger building with the mural of famous vegans next door 😉 Some items are vegetarian (ovo:lacto) so read before ordering! My partner has a bad milk allergy and has never had a problem with the mixed use kitchen (he’s pretty sensitive to cross contamination and we eat here a lot 😂)

Tex Mex done right - Edit
Mr. Natural is an amazing place. Near wild heaven. They have been around 33 years and are family run. The family is from Monterey, Mexico. Everything here is vegetarian and most things can be made vegan.
Read moreThe food here is primarily Tex Mex. Friendly staff that gave me some useful tips on my stay in Austin. Everything looked good here.
They even have an all vegan bakery. I am more of a savory kind of guy than a sweet guy. I went with the Vegan Fish Wrap. It was amazing. Near perfect wrap that I have ever had. They have things dialed here. I am sure will be back again before going back to California. The local yellow bird hot sauces on the table aren't to be missed. Try the ghost pepper one if you dare.
Pros: Tex Mex done right

Extensive menu, love the mural! - Edit
Visiting from out of state, I stopped here for lunch with a small group. There were so many vegan options on the menu, it was hard to choose -- but I went for vegan "fish" tacos, which is hard to find back home. The food was exactly what I was hoping for -- though for some reason, I and one other group member who ordered vegan fish had to wait much longer than our friends did for other dishes. Fortunately I also ordered a delicious and nourishing spinach-pineapple beverage that tided me over while I was waiting. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is a bit drab, but I love the "Vegetarians of the World" mural outside.

Vegan Mexican Comfort Food - Edit
We visited Mr. Natural for breakfast and we’re blown away by the flavor! We ordered a breakfast taco, the vegan cowboy scramble, and vegan chilaquiles, none disappointed. Their juices are also very delicious and fresh, we ordered the carrot, apple, cranberry. The food was so good, we had to order lunch to go, can’t wait to see how the flautas and tamales taste 😋

The GOAT - Edit
While technically a vegetarian restaurant, most of their options are actually vegan and their bakery is entirely vegan. For my last birthday I got a cake to share with my friends who are not vegan and everybody raved how good it was. I love their food and would go there more often if they were open on Sundays.

Until next time... - Edit
I had the Saturday special: $11 macho nachos out on the patio. Service was great. Nachos were huge and felt "healthy." The vegan queso wasn't bad, but honestly, the beans didn't have much flavor. I'll have to come back and give another dish a try - the menu is huge. The cakes and pastries look wonderful in the window.

Best Selection of Vegan Tex-Mex - Edit
This is the best place for vegan tex-mex in Austin because you get a whole menu to choose from rather than looking for the one or two items on the menu at a non-vegan place. Their dinner menu has a lot of options including enchiladas (more than just one kind), tamales (rarely vegan elsewhere), flautas, fajitas, rellenos, and burritos. You can't go wrong with anything you choose. I like that they don't rely too heavily on faux meats, and there was a good selection of choices without that ingredient. Our party got two different enchilada plates and a tamale plate - everything was delicious and the portions were generous (3 enchiladas or three tamales per order, plus rice, beans, and salad). We also got chips and salsa for appetizer: it was medium spicy and we liked how it was served warm. There is an extensive bakery case with all kinds of treats, but we were too full from the meal and skipped dessert. Everything is vegan and many items are labeled gluten free. Definitely worth a trip back there just to try some baked goodies.
