Very expensive but the portion sizes are huge - Edit
(Long, detailed review)
Read moreI'm visiting my omni friend in Edinburgh and I thought it'd be nice to try here. It's a small restaurant so a reservation is essential. We paid £80 for a focaccia, two pasta dishes, one dessert and two soft drinks including the service charge and tax. It is definitely a treat to dine here and I'd love to visit again next time I'm here.
The garlic focaccia was perfect. I have never eaten a more delicious bread in my life! 10/10
I ordered the carbonara. I noticed in other review pictures that the sauce texture is inconsistent but this didn't bother me. The sauce was creamy and rich, the cheese and bacon were delicious in flavour, and the spaghetti was cooked consistently throughout. The portion was far too big for me I barely made it through half of this dish. What I did eat was extremely filling. The server didn't seem impressed that I had to leave so much food but that's not something that I can help. Despite this, they remained professional. As a completely personal preference, I would've loved some mushrooms in there and a little more salt. 8/10
My friend ordered the paccheri cacio e pepe. Whilst she enjoyed it, she found that the pasta was cooked inconsistently with some parts more cooked than others. She found the sauce excessively peppery even though it was a cheese and pepper sauce. She thought a nice addition to the dish would be aubergine and mushrooms. 7/10
My friend also ordered the pistachio cheesecake. As an omni she was very impressed by this! She found it indistinguishable from a dairy cheesecake with its creamy and rich flavour and perfect consistency. I was absolutely stuffed but I managed to try a little slither of this and I can confirm it was absolutely delightful and delicious. 9/10
We will visit again when I return next year but I think it would benefit us to share a main because the portions are just massive! Next time we'll share a focaccia and a pizza main then get a dessert each and I think that'll be perfect to ensure we can eat it all.

Must visit - Edit
Fantastic evening at Novapizza. Had rosemary focaccia to start (note this is a flat, crispy bread). Mains were Toscana pizza - lots of toppings and delicious roasted flavours - and Paccheri Alla Norma - creamy, tomato-y, aubergine-y comfort pasta, it was very good. House red was really nice, as was the raspberry fizz we started with. It was a special night out so did not mind that, yes, it's on the pricier side for us, and you can tell the ingredients and cooking are great quality. Lovely atmosphere and service.

Best vegan pizza - Edit
A very classy Italian restaurant. I had the caprese pizza with a rocket salad. The cheeses were amazing and the pizza was chewy (rather than crispy).

We tried lots of different places in the City which offered Pizza and this was by far the best one. Cheese substitute tasted so real, it was nearly scary.

Cutest restaurant ever!! - Edit
It is such a nice and cute little restaurant and the food is just amazing! We had the ricotta and the bruschetta as a starter, then one of the signature dishes (I forgot the name, but it was the one with the cheese cream) and the lasagne and as a dessert the pistacchio cheesecake (omg!!) and the tiramisu. We wanted to come again tomorrow to try the pizza which looked just great as well but unfortunately they are closed and then we are already on our way home to Vienna :-(

Great!! - Edit
Novapizza Vegan Kitchen, located in Edinburgh’s New Town, offers a fully vegan menu with Italian-inspired dishes. This cosy restaurant serves a variety of vegan pastas, pizzas, and desserts, with standouts like their vegan carbonara and tiramisu.

Highly recommended 👌🍕🍝🍰😋 - Edit
We visited last night as a pre birthday treat for hubby.
Read moreThe food is just amazing, so delicious, sumptuous, and fresh. Can't recommend this restaurant enough.
Whilst it is a bit pricey, it is defo worth a visit. They also do takeaway. It's not an option for us sadly as we live on the other side of the city... 😕
We had the Bruchetta Pomodoro and
Burrata to start, so light, fresh, and tasty, a perfect starter combination!
To follow, I had the Spaghettone Carbonara, rich, creamy, and indulgent. Hubby had the signature dish, Spaghettone Novapizza. Again, this was perfection, rich, and full of flavour.
The cheesecake here is to die for! 🤤 if I could've had it for all 3 courses, I would've 😋😍😆 so creamy, great texture, and absolutely spot on!
A fabulous wee place, staff are lovely, efficient, and professional. Booking is highly recommended as it is quite small but very popular.

A fully vegan pasta?? Wowee - Edit
First of all, the inside of the restaurant was super cute and felt very authentically Italian. There was garlic and risotto hanging from the walls!
Read moreTo start we shared some olives and bruschetta - both of which were good but we thought the bruschetta lacked a little flavour. This could have been because the tomatoes weren’t in season!
Then for mains I got the carbonara and my partner got the spaghettone novapizza (the restaurants special). My carbonara wasn’t as good as I thought it would be, the sauce was a little lumpy and not creamy like I expected. Looking at other people’s pictures it seems like it could have been a one off thing!
My partners pasta was incredible and I still think about it every day. The sauce was rich and the vegan cheese was incredible, the stracciatella cheese on top was creamy and worked wonderfully with the pasta.
Pros: Amazing pasta special, Friendly staff
Cons: Carbonara a little lumpy

Pizza, pasta, potatoes! - Edit
We devoured our meal here and highly recommend! The pizza dough was both chewy and crispy. The vegan burrata was unbelievable, without any weird or coconut aftertaste which tends to be the case with vegan cheeses elsewhere. They are at the top of the game when it comes to vegan pizza!

Best restaurant in Edinburgh - Edit
Truly blown away by the food here. You truly truly would not be able to tell any of it is vegan - the cheeses on the pizza and pasta (I think they are Julienne Bruno) are phenomenal and every single bite was exceptional! I really couldn’t recommend this place more - it is a bit on the spenny side but the food quality is worth it and the vibe is small and lovely. 10/10.

Amazing Italian food - Edit
As an American I thought this would be like a Boston or New York sub shop. Nope! This is the real deal Italian restaurant. We all had the pasta, including some gluten free, and it was amazing. Don't miss this place!

Fantastic Italian food in a safe, inclusive place! - Edit
The food here is phenomenal! My boyfriend had the spaghettone aglio olio and he told me it was the best pasta aglio olio he ever had!
Read moreI came here specifically for the pizza quattro formaggi and it was amazing too! You wouldn't be able to tell it apart from a 'real' one with non-vegan cheese. I wish I lived nearby so I could come here and have it all the time!
We also had the rosemary foccacia as a starter, and the panna cotta with red fruit sauce and torta mimosa as desserts. All were so freaking good!
The prosseco mixes we got (strawberry and peach) were delicious too.
Not only is the food fantastic, this place is incredibly inclusive aswell. The toilet has a specific sign that says "non-gendered" and there are pride flags and rainbows everywhere.
I highly recommend this place! Hope to come back during my next visit to Scotland.

Too salty for me - Edit
After reading all the good reviews my partner and I were expecting so much but unfortunately food(garlic focaccia , gnocchi with 4 cheese, even pitachio lemon cake) were too salty for us. I wish I could give 5 stars as a vegan to fully vegan restaurant. Food could be reaaally delicious if only it was less salty.
