This meal was amazing - so well thought out and a lovely experience. Definitely some of the best food I’ve had. On the expensive side but in my opinion worth it!

Mind blowing experience - Edit
What a great find Omakaseed was. The restaurant is located inside the Sanctuary hotel just off Times Square in a beautifully curated room that looks like a library. The chef prepares all dishes in front of you, which makes the experience even more special. I was blown away by the depth of flavours and the texture of the courses we tried - I struggled to find anything I didn't like! The plantain, watermelon and aubergine sushi were probably my favourite, but everything was utterly outstanding.

Wonderful! - Edit
We had the vegan 15 course Omakase. It was creative and tasty. I like the small bar/library space with just 10 seats overlooking the chef making each piece though I’d go for a bit quieter relaxing music instead of their playlists. The staff was professional and cordial. Great for a special occasion.

Wow wow wow!!!! This is clearly the best meal I ever had! I took the regular menu, but I will be back to try the boogie version. So worth the money, this experience was out of this world! There is 2 chefs and 10 guests which made a very unique and intimate ambiance. The service was excellent (around 3-4 waitors for 10 guests). Make a reservation a few weeks before your NY trip!

Take my money - Edit
The omakase was so delicious I don’t think I can really do it justice with a review. Every bite was mind blowing. I recommend getting the bougie full version. The flavors and textures were all so good—the king oyster mushroom with truffle might have been my favorite. The staff are very friendly as well.
Read moreOne thing to note that this place is not obvious to find. The address as a few restaurant signs out front. You’re looking for the O. Go through the doors and go straight to the back. You can also ask someone and they can let you know where to go.
Run, don’t walk. This place was amazing, might even be better than Bloom in Paris / Montreal? We’ll have to go back to compare!

Sublime - Edit
My first experience with Omakaseed was at their pop-up several months ago. This new version - is a much better experience. Let’s begin with the location: hidden away in the rear lobby of a Midtown hotel, it feels like a secret. All diners sit at a bar on surprisingly comfortable stools in a small, chicly decorated room.

Just had an amazing dinner at Omakaseed. If you can, I’d really recommend the “bougie” 15 course experience - some dishes like the jackfruit and the oyster nigiri were very special. Really enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend.

underwhelming and somewhat disappointing - Edit
the best way i can describe the experience is that it was less that the sum of individual dishes served. we tried the standard set and to our taste maybe 1 or 2 dishes stood out, 3 to 4 left almost no impression and the rest was in between. this is probably explained by most of them being served as sushi and nigiri, so there is not that much difference between most individual pieces. we could not help but compare it with the experience of dining at now closed Kajitsu, which was a vastly superior experience.
Read moreyou can select an occasion for you visit when making a reservation - which i did as we were celebrating a birthday. i take that this went nowhere since the chef asked if anyone is celebrating. the person i was with hesitated to say 'yes, it is my birthday today' as it would necessarily (and awkwardly for us) draw attention of the patrons sitting next to us and being served by the chef together with our party. after all, there's a reason why this information is conveyed in advance in such circumstances.
a glass of still water costs 6$ - we failed to ask to tap in assuming that a glass of water would be covered by the price. i take this to be our mistake, but it left a bad taste.
ultimately it comes down to how much you'd value the cost (>60$ for one) of the experience: if you're operating at a margin where it is not significant, this might well be worth it; i know i would not recommend to anyone, vegan or otherwise.

I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed this meal. Truly intense and interesting flavors and textures in each course, with perfect presentation. It’s an expensive experience, but it sure is worth it.

The chef made it great! - Edit
It's so fun to be chatting with the chef while she makes your meal, explaining the flavors and talking about the whole NYC scene. Our chef was Desjeunais (spelling? Day Je Nais) who was terrific. At the end they asked "what was your favorite" but since each item was so unique I had to go back and look at the pictures we took to remember. This is an experience, not a "feel full" meal, which actually was nice as we were able to enjoy our Broadway show without feeling bloated. Have fun with this!

Great review! I had reservations to come here last night but cancelled our trip earlier this week after getting sick. Can't wait to try this place out. Did you order the 6 or 11 omakase?

Sensational food/ambience! A must! - Edit
Absolutely amazing in every way! Super trendy cool ambience (looks like a library whiskey bar), food was incredible, and service was great! The menu changes every 4 weeks so can’t wait to keep going back! Great for date night, special occasion or nice dinner out with friends! Worth every penny- like dinner and a show! We need more vegan fine dining like this!!

Life changing meal - Edit
This is the kind of meal you will never forget. An absolute artwork of an eleven course meal. Each item is bite sized or close to it but you feel full by the end. The dishes range from udon noodles to bananas to eggplant. It’s a tapestry of unique plant flavors. The new location is great. Very cozy and intimate. The staff is also wonderful and enthusiastic. This is a must visit!!

Terrific experience! - Edit
Went to Omakaseed for the Valentine tasting menu and it was better than expected!! Loved the intimate experience and talking with the chef and other guests. Great variety of ingredients and presentation but each course was consistently great. This rivaled Kajitsu as one of the best vegan dining experiences I’ve had. The only complaints I had is that it was a bit rushed - 1 hour is not enough for omakase IMO. And I left not entirely full, would recommend going for dessert afterwards!

Wild ride of a meal - Edit
Started off on a bad foot after being seated 30 min late to our reservation. We were waiting for the previous tasting group to finish. It’s a restaurant within a restaurant (new concept/ghost kitchen out of plant bar NYC). Relatively small venue but you are seated at the bar and get a full view of the chef making your food, as well as a full schpiel of each piece of food. The chefs are super friendly and hand make everything right in front of you. However, this was more a distraction as the 15 course menu turned out to be 14 (clearly forgot one dish - the pineapple nigiri, which I was actually looking forward too) and a modified version of another dish after a slight miscommunication between partnering chefs (got a deconstructed mushroom hand roll - minus the nori). Even with all that, the food was actually delicious. I was very impressed with the flavors, 7 were incredible, the other were tasty but forgettable. The watermelon tartare was the star of the meal, with the eggplant, truffle avocado, and tomato not far behind. I got to the end of the meal and was still pretty hungry. Almost everything was a small single bite (especially for $90 out the door per person) I know it’s tough to be a restaurant in NYC, you have to be amazing to just get by and if I am truly honest, for the similar cost, I’d rather go to planta queen.
