In the back of a strip mall either free parking. We ordered two to-go orders. A lot of food and freshly made. Had to wait about 25 minutes, because it is not a fast food option and prices reflect that.
As others mention, they add $1 to each entrée to be made vegan. Not sure why, but we’re glad they at least had vegan options.
Watch out for spice. We did medium and it was actually too hot (and we’re not wimps). Nice that they offer brown rice as an option at no additional charge. Portions large. Had to wait about 25 minutes. $16 for lunch special.
Inside seating only, but we are able to sit at some tables out front because my mom ordered food from another restaurant (not vegan). Only bummer is that had homeless guys going through garbage and approaching table. Suggest eating inside or taking to-go orders to a local beach you eat.
If I am going to be completely honest, I used to love eating here. Their food was some of our favorite in kona.
It costs $1 any time you make something vegan, which is confusing, but we still ate here occasionally.
Last night my partner and I ordered a couple dishes and as I was eating the yellow curry I started tasting something chewy in my mouth. It was a strange texture so I spit it out.
And sure enough, yes, the last review was right. There was a chunk of meat in my dish as well.
IT WAS DISGUSTING.
After not eating animal flesh in 7 years, I almost wanted to throw up.
But I remained calm as I understand we all make mistakes.
But the thing that upset me the most, which is why I will never go back there again, was when I brought it up to the “manager’s” attention, she had absolutely no sympathy towards me and what just happened. IN FACT, she denied that it was meat.................
She thought I was lying...........
WHAT????????????
Why would I do such a thing???????
Yes, I have eaten meat before and knows what it tastes like and I know the texture as well. THAT WAS 100% a piece of meat.
It was a terrible terrible experience and she asked if I wanted to have it remade..... why would I want to eat from that same kitchen that happened in?
I asked for a refund and she gave me a PARTIAL refund. Not even the full cost of the dish... We left over 20% tip and she didn’t refund any of the tip.....
We stayed at a “mega resort” 25 miles away from here where there is nothing vegan and everything costs $$$$$. This place was totally worth the drive for us. The service was great, the food was very good and they know what vegan means. They have a huge menu and can veganize tons of items. The annoying thing was that we were charged an extra dollar per meal for them to use the vegan sauces.
Vegan menu on request. I don't remember the name, but ask for the special flower that changes the water color to bright blue right before your eyes when you squeeze a lemon into it . My vegan favorites are Summer Rolls, Green Papaya Salad, and Vegetable Curry.
On a side note: they don't serve alcohol, but allow you to bring your own with no corkage fee.
