Cheap eats - Edit
I wanted to have dinner near Hip Pun since there was a pop-up vegan thrift shop event hosted by Taiwan Vegan Frenzy that day. This place was a good find! The owner was super nice and cleared out five seats for us in the tiny seating area. I translated the Chinese-only menu for my friends who don’t read Chinese. The dumplings with soup were definitely the biggest bang for the buck: it comes with eight dumplings served on the side of a large bowl of soup filled with veggies and tofu skin, the lion’s mane mushroom soup with your choice of dumplings (either cabbage, salted mustard greens, kimchi, or fennel). I got the jajiang fried instant noodles, and a couple of friends got either the kimchi fried rice or shacha fried rice. All the dumplings, fried noodles, and fried rice were served on disposable paper plates. But the soup, the (cold) lemon vegan chicken pieces and the pan-fried vegan pork chop were served on reusable ceramic plates. How strange! They also only had disposable chopsticks and soup spoons, so bring your own to avoid generating trash. I loved the vegan pork chop, and I’d definitely switch to the soup with dumplings next time.

Cons: narrow seating area, disposable utensils and plates
