Great location, delicious food - Edit
We ate here twice on our recent trip to LA. We had the garlic ramen (they're not joking about the garlic!!) and the OG ramen, spicey tater tots and the cucumber and avocado salad. Really speedy and efficient service, such tasty food in a cool environment. Highly recommended.

They offer a few Ramen variations. The OG has an amazing flavourful broth and is by far my favourite but the others are also very tasty.

Rich broth, good avocado toast - Edit
Note that I think if you eat at the bar, they’ll give you reusable stuff but if you choose another table it’ll be plastic. Ordered the OG ramen, spicy garlic tofu ramen, and avocado toast. The ramen broth was delicious, made with sunflower seeds, vegan egg is salty and doesn’t taste much like an egg but it’s not bad either. The avocado toast was made of deep fried rice topped with avocado and some sort of sour/limed avocado sauce, it was unique and delicious.

Subpar ramen - Edit
Reasonable portions at reasonable prices. Broth is decent but not great. Very unique flavor with the vegan egg. Better vegan ramen options elsewhere in CA though.

Too Notch Ramen in LA - Edit
Hands down my favorite vegan ramen spot in LA and that is saying a lot. I've had my fair share of vegan ramen in the last few years and coming to Ramen Hood just brought a huge smile to my face.
Read moreLocated inside Grand Central Market, Ramen Hood offers a fully plant-based menu and utilizes predominantly a sunflower seed broth which is very unique. Each bowl was around $15 and you can either eat at the counter (recommended) or ask for takeout and they'll put everything into a nice little package to rebuild wherever you go.
During my first visit, I tried their Spicy Garlic Katsu Ramen. The broth was extremely flavorful and packed with umami, and includes OmniPork katsu, bok choy, king oyster mushrooms, and chili threads. The noodles themselves were excellent quality and I gulped down my bowl in what felt like an instant.
I loved them so much that I ended up coming back here a second time during my most recent trip in LA. Getting downtown can be a challenge, but it's well worth it for this bowl of ramen itself.
Whether you're vegan or not, this bowl is not to be passed up. I've had mediocre non-vegan ramen in my life and this blows all of those bowls out of the park.
Pros: Counter seating, Easy takeout option

Amazing vegan ramen, sunflower seed broth♡ - Edit
We did not go to the LA location, but the pop up in NYC in 2019. The broth from the sunflower seeds were so rich, umami, and had a nice mouth feel. I have tried making sunflower seed broths at home and not quite the same. If in LA, I will def add Ramen Hood as a place to go.

The best vegan ramen- ever! - Edit
The best vegan ramen- ever! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Also, the avocado toast is incredible because it’s not bread toast it’s crispy rice as toast and the sauce on it is to die for and you’ll just have to try it to see what I mean.

Exceptional sunflower seed broth, the pork katsu was amazing, a good amount of veggies in a large ramen bowl. The mushroom topping was also brilliant. The food was quite filling at a very reasonable price

I thought the basic ramen option was pretty great. Fun environment in the market. The vegan egg was less exciting than I thought it would be though.

I didn't try the ramen, just stopped by for a quick lunch. I ordered the avocado toast because someone told me it was very tasty - indeed it was, but the kitchen is not so clean, so I'll give this experence only 3 stars.

Yummy Sunflower Broth - Edit
Super delicious ramen — I had the Omnipork Luncheon Ramen. Perfect combinations of textures and tastes, not to mention the amazing sunflower broth. Definitely one of my favorite V places I’ve been too. The ‘egg’ is ok, not too bad, but mostly just a novelty (though definitely nothing wrong with that :))
