Cute spot for vegan food in Nara! (Got take-out) - Edit
I went here May 21st 2024. I got to Nara early, so went to Ramuna for opening. About 3 people were lined up before opening outside. Our plan was always to get take-out, so once everyone else was seated we let the owner know we wanted to do take-out & she gave us the take-out menu. We got 2 soy meat kaarage bowls & 2 soymilk ice-creams.
Read moreSince everyone else was being seated and given menus, we were able to order first for take-out and only waited about 10-15 minutes for our order to be ready! She was super fast!
Since it's a small place and only 1 person is preparing the meals and running the show, once around 5-6 people are seated and ordering the wait becomes an hour long, so it's really good to get there for opening, or be ready for some waiting (It's a cute place and in a cute neighbourhood so there's no worries - but I do think it would be helpful to the owner to have a reservation system) But for anyone worried about having a waiting time, you should know ordering take-out is very easy at Ramuna and that is a secondary option!
As for the food, it was very yummy. My sister and I both really enjoy the kaarage bowl, it was a perfect meal to end our Nara trip. On the way back from Ramuna to the station we got to eat the soymilk icecream which had a nice flavour and was very creamy & smooth as well, so I'm rating Ramuna 5/5 stars! It was an enjoyable experience.
Pros: Yummy vegan food, Decent prices, Take-out friendly
Cons: Opens really late at 1PM, No reservation system, 1 hour wait times

Very cute restaurant located right outside of Nara Park. It is operated by only one person, so there might be waiting times. But they are with it, as the food is super delicious!

Delightful stop to add to my Nara day 🦌 - Edit
Food was delicious, I had the Dan Dan Noodles. I love that there was some consciousness raising literature in the shop, I haven't really seen much of that anywhere else. The person running the shop was doing an amazing job considering how busy it was and they were by themselves!

Cozy and tasty - Edit
The cafe has a cozy atmosphere and is run by only one person - don’t come here if you are in a hurry! When we arrived, the place was almost full so we expected s long wait and the owner also told us that it will take a long time. We were positively suprised when it took only 20 minutes or so after we arrived to get our food!

Cute and cozy little place run by one woman. Luckily, we were the only ones there and ordered first. The food came out quickly, and it looked like the two orders after us came out quickly too.

Beautiful restaurant - Edit
One of the best vegan burger I ever had. The vegan banana muffin and the soy ice cream were amazing too. The owner is very kind and you can feel her passion inside and outside of the whole restaurant!

Cute, tasty, kind…. But slow - Edit
This is a nice place if you feel like you have time to linger. We did, so we got there right at opening and were the third table seated. It took about 20 minutes to get our tea and about a half hour for the food to come out. Since we were at the end of our half-day trip to Nara and had seen the attractions we came for, we didn’t mind waiting and relaxing. Fortunately water is self-service. This place is cute and has a gentle vibe. The owner works hard and does everything by herself.
Read moreMy partner and I both got the soy meat karaage bento box and enjoyed it. The miso soup and sides of veggies were really nice. The soy meat had a better texture than some other places I’ve had a similar dish (it wasn’t over cooked) and the fermented brown rice was awesome. We also got the soy milk soft serve for dessert and while it was really good it wasn’t worth the extra time it took (when we asked about it, the owner turned on the ice cream machine, at which point it felt too late to say never mind).
I enjoyed my meal here a lot and would eat there again on a return trip to Nara.

i really wanted to like it - Edit
i saw all the previous reviews about how there’s only one woman cooking it all and the food is amazing, so i went in with an open mind and time to spare.
Read morewhen i got there, there was already a line which i got in. i was thinking there would be a waiting list or something , but no. nothing from the owner about the process either. after waiting around 20-30 mins, people seated outside started to leave (out of frustration i guess), so i was going to sit down. i asked the people outside if they had ordered yet, and they said yes they did and i had to wait to be seated. i continued to stand in line, even though many tables were free. the people in front of me had no idea about the process either.
all in all i waited around an hour and a half to two hours to be seated, order, and get my food. i got the dan dan noodles and the broth was okay but really not what i had expected. it was pretty bland.
perhaps the other dishes are better, but for me i don’t think i would go back unless i was the first one in line.
the owner looked stressed and didn’t talk much the whole time. seems like she could do with a part timer

Cozy place with delicious food - Edit
It was really nice to eat here! The place is really cozy and has a lot of cat things around. The food was really delicious and fresh (forgot to take pictures of all that we had, we also had ice cream in such a long time!). The lady was really kind! You need to have time and be patient with being served because she does everything by herself.

A very special experience - Edit
A five minute walk from the Deer Park entrance, this place was on my list to visit. I knew what to expect so didn’t mind the wait. We had to wait to be seated. Wait to be served and wait for our meals. Still well worth it. The one woman does everything and she doesn’t get flustered no matter what is happening around her. While we waited I took in all the cute cat paraphernalia. We ordered the brown rice falafel set and the hamburger set. Also a slice of mushroom pizza and soy soft serve with mango for dessert. Everything was yummy.

An adorable little cafe in Nara! - Edit
The vibe of this place is just so sweet & comforting and it’s owned by an amazing woman. It’s pretty small and we went not too long after opening but the place was already full so we ended up sitting outside which wasn’t ideal since it was cold 😅 but we had our winter coats and I ordered hot tea so we survived lol but definitely plan on getting there a bit early! The bento was soo yummy and warmed my soul.

The cutest place - Edit
Super cute little restaurant run by an amazing old lady. Great food for dine in or take-out. Everything is lovingly and hand-made upon request. Also has a small shop with things like instant ramen, chocolate and vegan tuna tins. Very handy for a vegan westerner lost in the Japanese supermarkets. ^_^'
