Pricey and Unclear

Please take this review with a grain of salt. This was my first time experiencing what could be considered a somewhat authentic Italian pizza so this very likely is a "me" thing and not a restaurant thing. I do feel like this place was overpriced and that their offerings are a bit unclear, not about whether or not they are vegan, but what is included. When I initially saw they had a "white" pizza, I assumed they had made a vegan white sauce, however, their vegan pizza actually comes with no sauce and no vegan cheese. You have to add the cheese and then tomato sauce separately which is not noted on the menu. The pizza alone is $20 and then $6.00 to add the cheese and $2.50 for the sauce. The pizza is a great size, but I didn't love the flavor which I found lacking. I probably should have also altered the toppings as I don't love olives or artichokes on my pizza. Overall, this just wasn't for me.

Good, not mind-blowing

The vegan cheese is good and they have a vegan “white” pie that comes with just vegetables (how it’s a white pie without cheese is beyond me!) or a build-your-own option. Food is good and not overly salty like some pizza places can be. Nice salads and good cocktails, but it’s just not really as good as it should be for the price.

Great pizza, shame about the restaurant

Four of us went to Ribalta this evening, 2 omnivores, 1 vegan, and 1 gluten free. Everyone really enjoyed their pizza and it’s great that both vegan and gluten free need could be met without issue. However, even with a reservation we had a 30 min wait for a table and the music was so loud we couldn’t hear each other over the table. Towards the end of meal the music was turned up even further to ‘nightclub volume’ and the idea of conversation over food had to be completely abandoned. I’d get takeout from there again in a heartbeat but since I like to chat over my meals, we won’t be eating there anytime soon.

Classic

Ribalta had been my go-to nice dinner spot in New York for years before going vegan and was so happy to see that they made the menu more vegan accessible. Having been to Naples many times, Ribalta has been the closest thing to it I've had outside of Naples. For a while, I had been getting a marinara pizza (no cheese, added many vegetables) which was delicious, but now they offer a vegan cheese option for $2 extra, as well as a vegan "white" pizza, which brought it right back home for me. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the vegan options and were more than happy to accommodate. Excellent service.

Pros: Clearly labeled, Knowledgeable + kind staff

Cons: Serves meat and dairy

Best Neapolitan Pizza in NYC - now with Vegan Options

I have been going to this place for years and having marinara pizzas with toppings (arugula etc.). Finally they have added a vegan cheese option ($2 more to replace dairy mozzarella with vegan version) and even have introduced a pizza that is named the Vegan. This place is vera pizza napoletana, which means it uses traditional methods. They have a wood-fired brick oven, and the crust is as good as anything I ever ate in Naples. We asked them which brand of vegan cheese they use, and they said they import it themselves from Italy. The manager said that since they are importing their vegan mozzarella, they sometimes run out and have to wait a week for another shipment from Italy, so probably best to call beforehand to check that it is available. Highly recommended!
